is this compatible with an Apple laptop ? null

I use it with a 13" MacBook Pro and Mac Mini server all the time. Works great.

What it doesn't explain in much detail is that you must use an Apple/Mac to transfer the data you obtained by the device. Apple to Apple only. So I used it to download data from my Apple harddrive then plugged it into another Mac ( used the University's Mac) then saved it to a USB. Hope this helps

Yes if your hard drive is formated for mac otherwise it wont read it.

Well, there's no software. Whatever drive you put in is recognised as an external drive like a flash drive.
