Q: QuestionMy Windows 7 laptop crashed. Will this transfer ALL the data and programs (including favorites,etc) from the old (removable) hard drive to my new Windows 10 laptop easily and without other software or eqmt being purchased or messing up W10?

• A:Answer Yes it will, but the programs you transfer will not work. They need to be installed on your new machine. Your files will be fine and work.

Q: QuestionI removed a hard drive from a WD enclosure because it stopped working. The HD powers up but is not recognized by my computer. Will this enclosure do anything to help recognized the hard drive. If not how can I get my computer to recognize the WD Drive?

• A:Answer No eSata port. It is USB 3.0 only (backward compatible to USB 2.0). Compatible with 2.5" HDD, 3.5" HDD, and SSDs. SATA Compatability: SATA III, SATA II, SATA I on the internal interface. The external interface is USB 3.0.

Q: QuestionCan I plug a SATA drive removed from an old desktop into this and then connect it to my new desktop via USB or do I need to connect it to my new PC via an SATA cable somehow ? I assumed the former, but someone at best buy told me it's the later.

• A:Answer Yes this is supported with a USB connection. A 3.0 connection works the best but it will also work slower with a 2.0. It also supports 2.5 sata laptop hard drives. Well worth the money.

• A:Answer This only works with SATA hard drives. SATA I,II,and III. So any SATA drive will work. Not sure about the new M.2 sata drives, but i would assume those are also backwards compatible. I just purchased this from the store, but it only had the USB 3.0 connection for the PC. Online it says eSATA and USB 3.0. Same SKU and model number. So if you are looking for something with eSATA connection for the PC as well, it looks like the description is incorrect.

• A:Answer Looks like this unit (UPC 841163061114) is what you need. It has USB 3.0 interface. There is no USB 2.0 on it.
