Yes this is supported with a USB connection. A 3.0 connection works the best but it will also work slower with a 2.0. It also supports 2.5 sata laptop hard drives. Well worth the money.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will save the hassle of reconnecting a hard drive to a pc.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to connect to o my laptop via USB and recover files off of my broken desktop
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends upon what you want to do with the drive. If you just want to be able to read the drive, perhaps to copy data from it, then you can connect it to your new PC via usb cable. If you want to put the drive into a different pc and boot from it, then you may have to connect it via Sata cable. I'm not sure how well external usb hard drives do as a boot drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can plug the old SATA into the Thermaltake unit and plug it into a USB port (preferably a USB3). I suspect the best buy person was thinking you were going to either add to you new system or just copy the contents to the new desktop, then a SATA cable is all you would need. There should be extra power connectors in a new desktop. Also note (NTFS windows disk format assumed) you may have to "assume ownership" of the user folders before you can copy them to your new system.
