A:AnswerNo... you can NOT connect to the headphone jack because the TV sound goes out.
That sound is restored once the headphone jack is removed.
However if you use a digital out jack on the side of the TV to your stereo receiver's digital input (or available digital to RCA cords).
That will work in allowing stereo use and TV volume on a independent basis
