No it will not It allows you to turn device on and of without the need to plug and unplug the device all the time.

No, you need electricity to power whatever you intend on plugging in. Power does not travel through wifi.

No, it needs the electricity for power. It would be the equivalent of a smart light bulb in a lamp that wasn’t plugged in.

Of course you need electricity on the socket where you want to plug it. But if you want to control a light get a bulb and then control it with your home assistant. No need to use a socket, can use a wifi bulb.
