Hi! The extender, once set up in Range Extender Mode, will use the same Wi-Fi network encryption and password as your main router. As long as your router's Wi-Fi is secured, the extender's network will be also.

You set your own WiFi name and password for the extender, however it does need to connect to a primary WiFi to extend the range so if the network if unprotected your still vulnerable to cyber attacks and open information because it has to go through the primary WiFi.
