“Are either the digital or analog audio outputs variable? Specifically do they change volume of that output with the TV remote volume.”

• Only the analog will do that. It is such a shame too as I have seen cheaper brands have the TV audio control for soundbars with a digital connection.

• You can change volume on the remote. The remote has very few functions though.
