yes, you will have to take it down, and follow the provided instructions to do the venting procedure. You may also, search on-line for the instructions for this model.

yes, it can be installed without using the metal damper/ducts. Fan will vent out the top above the door. You may have to take the unit down at a later date to duct out the top and using the provided duct cover. Or you can vent out the back side of unit. Keep all the hardware and the instructions for later use. You may also, have to purchase additional ducting hardware to cover the ducted distance.

I think you can. The hardest part will be that you need to remove the microwave from its position to access the ventilation port. 
This is from I saw when the technician came to install the microwave for us.
