The inability to alter the sound of the chimes is a major flaw. Virtually all telephones have many choices regarding their ring tones and volumes. Furthermore, this microwave model has two light brightness settings and three fan settings. I cannot hear the chime unless I am about two feet away. Surely in these days of ADA and other considerations of the various physical abilities vendors must accommodate, Whirlpool fell short in considering its customer base. Except for the need of the low profile that this device offers (rare), I would have returned it for another model--it's that bad...
