“We have had the unit for 8 days - now the door plunger that kicks the door open with the auto button is deployed and won’t retract. The door will no longer closes because of this. Any ideas???”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had the same problem. I tried unplugging the unit and just letting it sit for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, I was able to shut the door. However, if I press the "open" button again, the door plunger will deploy again and will not retract. I have to unplug it again for ten minutes and then ALWAYS open the door manually. The "open" button is not working as it should. Very disappointing as I have only owned this microwave for 9 and 1/2 months and have treated it very gently.
