Yes - there are four or five loose grilles and covers about 2 inches by 5 inches with screws that are fastened in one of two ways to make the unit direct vented or recirculating. One forward discharging grille cools the microwave's magnetron. There is a noticeable upward warm air discharge at the front of the unit but that air is not in contact with food vapors or grease laden air.

You will need to follow the "Install Damper Assembly" instructions if you plan on venting unit at the wall or roof. The Charcoal Filter will need to be removed if you are going to vent the unit at the wall or roof.
