No, I just scrap the heavy debris off before placing the dishes in the Dishwasher

No. I was surprised by this, as I always pre-rinsed mine. I scrap the big pieces off, run them once under the water, (even that isn't necessary) and put them in the dishwasher. The detergent you use makes a difference. I use the Cascade Platinum Pods. They are have enzymes that break away the food. Dishes come out spotless.
