• Yes you use your phone. However, you can purchase a physical controller that also comes with first person glasses separately.

• The phone as a controller works fine, but it's not ideal. There is a controller offered (that comes with first-person-view goggles to slide your phone in or a bracket to attach it to the controller). The controller is comparable to a third-party Xbox 360 or Wii U pro controller. It makes flying much easier. With the phone, it's a tad tough to control multiple movement directions at once. The controller alleviates all of this. I don't know that Best Buy has them, but Vertigo Drones website is where we bought ours.
