The Legion Pro 7i is one of the best gaming laptops on the market, minus a few niggles. DISPLAY: The 16" 240hz OLED is one of the best I've seen or used, its inky blacks, almost 1000nit HDR performance, and near instant response time makes for one of the best gaming/viewing experiences I've ever used. KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD: The Legion offers the same Thinkpad style keyboard experience as its business and flagship laptops. The slightly concave smile shaped keys make for one of the best typing experiences this side of a Macbook. The trackpad is responsive and precise, but is of the plastic variety with a cheaper feel compare to the rest of the laptop. AUDIO: The four speaker system offers excellent audio for a laptop, it doesn't have the Soundscape of something like an Asus Zephyrus G14/16 or the Macbook Pro 16, but it's not too far off. BUILD: Mostly aluminum the lid is solid with little flex and the stamped aluminum keyboard is solid as well. THERMALS: Setting the laptop in its performance mode had CPU temps in the mid to high 80s (Celsius) with the GPU seldom hitting 80c during games. The 3 fan design paired with a Vapor Chamber made for a cool and quiet gaming experience. BATTERY: For gaming you're looking at 1-2 hours depending on how graphhicslly intensive the game is. As far as normal usage goes I was getting between 5-7 hours while on the web/docs/streaming music. While not Lunar lake, Zen 5 or Apple M series laptop battery life... For a gaming laptop this size it's about as good as it gets. There were very few cons on the device, but the few I had may be an issue. The backlight on my laptop stopped working behind several keys and while attempting to add storage, the metal heatsink cover over the ram and storage had one screw head snap and one stripped out. The metal these screws are made of seems to be pretty soft, so be careful removing the cover. I would highly recommend this laptop, but be aware of the issues I had. The backlight in the keyboard could have just been badluck, but the upgrade design requiring the removal of an additional heatsink cover to access storage and ram could be handled better next gen. Just look at the Strix G16/18 and Scar 16/18 from Asus with its toolless design.

[Employee of bestbuy] I’ve been using the Legion Pro 7i with the RTX 5080, and it has exceeded my expectations in both performance and reliability. Everything from gaming to heavy multitasking runs incredibly smooth, with fast load times and no noticeable slowdowns. The RTX 5080 delivers excellent graphics performance, especially at higher resolutions, making games look sharp and immersive. The display is bright, color-accurate, and has a high refresh rate that really enhances the overall experience. Build quality feels premium, and the laptop has a solid, well-designed chassis that doesn’t feel cheap. The keyboard is comfortable to use for long sessions, whether I’m gaming or working. Thermals are handled impressively well, keeping the system cool without getting overly loud under pressure. Overall, this is a powerful and well-rounded machine that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a high-end gaming laptop.

Been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i for a while now and it’s honestly one of the best performance laptops I’ve owned. The cooling is surprisingly solid even under heavy gaming or rendering loads, and the screen looks amazing for both work and entertainment. I mainly use it for gaming, simulations, and 3D modeling, and it handles everything smoothly without noticeable lag. Build quality also feels premium without looking overly “gamer.” Definitely heavy and not the best for battery life, but if you want desktop-level performance in a laptop, this machine is absolutely worth it.

I’ve tested a lot of powerful laptops over the years, and every once in a while, one surprises you. The Lenovo Legion 7i with the RTX 5080 didn’t just impress me — it genuinely made me rethink how much you really need to spend to get top-tier performance. Let’s talk about the real headline here: efficiency. Lenovo clearly focused on thermals this generation, and it shows. The redesigned airflow system isn’t just marketing — it actually allows the RTX 5080 to stretch its legs properly. Under heavy gaming loads and rendering tasks, the laptop stays remarkably composed. Temperatures remain controlled, and more importantly, performance remains consistent. What that means in real-world terms is simple: it performs closer to some RTX 5090 laptops than you would expect — and those machines cost significantly more. That’s where the Legion 7i becomes extremely interesting. Instead of chasing the absolute highest GPU tier, Lenovo optimized what they had. The 5080 in this chassis feels unleashed. Stable frame rates. Minimal throttling. Strong sustained performance. It’s the kind of tuning that makes you appreciate engineering over spec-sheet hype. In AAA games at high settings with ray tracing enabled, the Legion 7i delivers smooth, confident performance. Competitive titles feel incredibly fluid thanks to the high refresh display, and creative workloads like video editing and 3D rendering move fast and reliably. What stood out to me wasn’t just peak FPS — it was consistency over time. No sudden dips. No thermal panic. Just steady power. That’s something even more expensive laptops sometimes struggle with. Premium Feel Without the Overpriced Tag The design is clean and mature. It doesn’t scream “gaming laptop,” which I personally appreciate. You could take this into a professional setting and it would fit right in. The keyboard feels fantastic, the display is sharp and vibrant, and the overall build quality gives you that reassuring sense that you invested in something serious. But the biggest win? Value. Competing Above Its Class There are RTX 5090 laptops out there that technically sit above this machine in the lineup. But when you factor in thermal efficiency, power delivery, and price-to-performance ratio, the Legion 7i becomes a very real competitor. You’re getting near-flagship performance without paying flagship premiums. That’s rare. Final Thoughts The Lenovo Legion 7i with RTX 5080 is not just powerful — it’s intelligently designed. The improved airflow system allows it to extract more performance from its hardware, putting it in the conversation with much more expensive machines. If you’re looking for a laptop that feels future-ready, runs cool under pressure, and delivers serious performance without crossing into absurd pricing territory, this is it. It’s not about buying the most expensive GPU. It’s about buying the smartest machine. And the Legion 7i might be exactly that.

Amazing gaming machine. I actually use for portable gaming as well as my living room pc for gaming. Handles anything I throw at it and the fan noise is surprisingly tame for having a 400W power brick. The OLED is top tier!

An excellent laptop for the money! I am able to use it for the latest games and is an excellent performer when it comes to running AI locally on the machine. Definitely worth the price if you want performance like the 5090 but dont feel like spending 4k$ just to do so. And with a little bit of outside external battery help, the laptop can maintain a decent battery life if paired with one of the ankermake larger external batteries!

This computer handles every game like a beast! Maxed out settings, HDR, ultra high graphics, RTX shaders on the new AC black flag resync and still getting a solid 70-90fps. I bought this about 6 months ago and I’ve loved it everyday since then! I do wish it had more than 1tb storage but I’ll add that later when (HOPEFULLY) storage prices go down (will they ever? :/). Anyways, i love my computer so much.

Medium heavy machine beautiful design oled screen is amazing keyboard feels nice and smooth

I got it on sale during memorial day to upgrade from a severely aged ganing laptop. This thing made the games i was playing look completely different in the best way possible, i can run everything on epic graphic settings.

This laptop is pretty beast. I use it for video editing and playing AAA games. When the workload is high for cpu & gpu it does not freeze and the cpu and gpu does not overheat, however it does get high in temps but lower temps then any other laptop i have owned. I bought a good cooling pad to keep temps really low under heavy loads when im pushing the laptop to the max & my average temps when doing so is cpu- 85c gpu-75 Btw Gamers, you get full raw 240 fps

It’s so good I love it the screen is so smooth when I play genshien impact or do engineering homework this was one of the most important purchases iv ever made I will definitely say it’s worth it

An absolute beast of a laptop. The first gaming laptop I owned and bought with my hard working money and it’s totally worth it. Was trying to get RTX 5090 GPU but glad I did not, no need to spend more for better performance as RTX 5080 is more than enough for most games and is one of the highest for a gaming laptop. Not just the performance but the aesthetics of the build. Such a marvelous beast.

Great laptop, beautiful display, very capable gpu. Fans keep it cool without being too loud.

Absolute beast of a laptop, using balanced mode in Lenovo software I run cyberpunk no frame generation, max settings with path tracing & modded with additional textures and get no frame skips. The ultimate 5080 laptop and it came with borderlands 4 & battlefield 6 on release. Got it on sale for 2775.00 at a retail price of $3000.00 +. This machine is amazing and Best Buy did great with the same day pickup. Couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase, it exceeds my expectations

I am very happy with this purchase; it is a powerful laptop with a beautiful and sharp OLED screen, it barely takes any time to turn on, with a good design and a good keyboard, and the keyboard and back lights enhance the gamer design.

Amazing laptop, it performs as well as a Desktop, looks well, has tons of RGB and has the best screen on its class
