Wonderful mashup of visual novel and real time strategy gameplay

Developed by Vanillaware Ltd., a studio known for its use of 2D artwork. They are developer of such games as OdinSphere and Dragon’s Crown. 13 Sentinels is like 2 games in one, the first part being a Visual Novel style narrative, where you alternate between the 13 characters to learn the story that is taking place. The second part is a tower defense style where you choose 6 of the characters at any time to defend a point on the map against waves of incoming enemies. The characters have a limit to the amount they can fight before requiring you to rest them. Learn the secrets of this engaging world and save mankind from annihilation.

The game story it’s good, the flights it’s a little weird. In overall a good game

This game is a masterpiece. I picked it up on Playstation when it first came out and ultimately didnt get that far due to the nature of the game and the time commitment. When it came to the Switch I picked it up again and popped in some head phones while my s/o used the TV. Everything from the story, the art style, the music, and the game play is wonderful. Vanillaware doesn't miss. I hope to see them drag more of their classics on to the Switch in the near future.

This is a game full of twists and turns. The story and characters is great. There is so much fun in trying to piece together the mysteries of the world at the same time as the characters. The real time strategy gameplay is fine, nothing special. The real draw is in the story. If you’re not a fan of heavily story-centered games then this one might not be the game for you.

Awesome game if you like jrpg and visual novels. A must-have for the switch imo.

This is definitely a sleeper hit. If you like tactical games this will definitely get your blood flowing. It’s got amazing voice acting, plot is solid, characters are unique, art style by Vanillaware, it’s got most of the boxes checked. This is actually my second time buying this game, first was for my PS4.

I read about this game when it was only available on PS4. I waited patiently until he finally appeared on Switch. The Nintendo console in handheld mode is perfect for this game. The game is divided into tactical mode in which we run our large robots to fight the invaders and on visual novel mode. The story is very interesting and intriguing. The fight, despite the specific graphics, is a lot of fun. Between fights, we improve our robots and the base for points scored during the mission. Tried this game out on ps4 a while back and it caught my interest but after playing the switch version I gotta say it definitely fits way better for this system. It’s more visual novel and light tactical rpg so I think portability works well for it and it looks absolutely stunning on an OLED. This art is really well done and I love taking screenshots of the characters and such. Worth a play through for sure! Honestly though those bonus art cards are kind of a joke. Other than though pretty solid re-release.

Great story. Gameplay is almost non existent. Plays more like a point and click adventure or visual novel than other Vanillaware games. And it's still a 10/10

Vanillaware is good at making unique titles worth a try. While I haven't gotten too far, what I have played is enjoyable as it has a decent story and some pretty graphics. While some things in the storied elements are a tad odd, I never felt it was below expectations. Overall I felt this game did a good job providing a good time.

It’s a bit hrs to label this game. It’s like an RPG, but the story elements are pretty unique. Vanilla ware comes through again with a beautiful game.

If you are a fan of jrpg this one is a must try. Interesting artwork and takes a while to build up but the storylines, action and design give some variety to the game.

Vanillaware has yet to disappoint me. With 13 Sentinels Aegis: Rim they deliver a gorgeous adventure game/visual novel with a dozen or so characters involved in a really cool story, with some giant robot mech RPG segments to break things up. The game runs great on the Switch and is a nice change of pace from other games out there. Worth a look for sure, especially if you tend to favor anime-style stories/designs.

For any chess , strategy type of players. This with its unique graphics and gameplay will hold your for hours

This is my first time playing 13 Sentinels, as I did not play it on PS4. The game looks beautiful, as most Vanillaware games do and the story is engaging. Combat can get hectic at times, but is an interesting combination to the visual novel theme. I would definitely recommend this is either RTS or visual novels appeal to you.

Aegis Rim is unlike any game I've played before. It mixes a few different genres and yet manages to have a captivating story. Visually unique, too. really enjoying this gem. Definitely for folk looking for a weaving, detailed story (where you always need to pay attention) alongside strategy gameplay that can challenge.
