I bought this for friend on a budget who needed a laptop for work and to help me with my business. Pro's: Nice display. Powerful Processor. Touch (if you like that) Screen. Integrated graphics aren't awful. Muti-tasks well. Con's: No SSD or M2 so boot speed is slow, big updates drag, and applications are noticeably slower opening. I'd have paid extra for the speed increase. With SSD's and M2 drives becoming more reasonably priced HP could have built it with one and really made this thing fly. When it's out of warranty I'll update it to an SSD. It's a good machine that is so close to being a very good machine. If you update to an ssd you'll have a machine that will last quite a few years.

I purchased two of these laptops for a photo booth business I was starting. I did research and found that a lot of features that are offered with laptops nowadays were not going to be included in this laptop, such as backlit keyboard, colored or upgraded casing/shell and a better quality screen. With that said I was looking. More towards the internals of the pc. So with that said, I must say this was a great buy! The laptop is super responsive thanks to the great processor. The touchscreen is also an awesome feature although I did wonder how long it would going to last me. So far the screen has held up quite well. 9 months in and I have definitely gotten my $$ worth. If you are in the market for a practical laptop and can live without the backlit keyboard and the no-so-flashy plastic shell, I would definitely recommend this HP laptop. For school I would probably seek a different model, something with a backlit keyboard and a better quality keyboard.

I was looking for a new laptop, as my last laptop was 7 years old. The sales clerk showed me this model after viewing a few others. The price was great for a touchscreen and included everything I needed. I would purchase again.

My laptop that I previously had went kaput after over 5 years. When I found this one, I was looking for a touchscreen laptop that was easily compact and yet affordable. This met all my specifications and more.

I was looking for a laptop that was light and small, but had enough kick to be up to date for as long as possible. I am starting back to school for my BSN and I needed something portable. This computer fit the bill. So very light, but with a good size screen. Lots of memory, lots of power. I could not be happier.

Pros (for a $500 laptop): fast CPU (4 physical cores plus 4 logical cores); the 8th-generation i5 Intel processor compares to many i7 out there (see i5-8250U at cpubenchmark.net); 8 GB RAM (up to 16); 1 TB HDD; Cons: screen resolution a little low (not a problem for me, btw); battery could be better (lasts about 5 hours, much less than the 8-9 hours of a similar Dell laptop (same price range) I also have); I also experienced some problems to install the WiFi module on Debian Linux (there is a simple solution now btw, just look for lwfinger/rtlwifi_new in case you need); The bluetooth is still not working on my Debian distro, but had no time to look carefully into this. The wired network connection and the touch-screen work fine on Debian. Overall, I am very satisfied. I compared a lot of different laptops before deciding on this one. I almost bought a Dell, but changed my mind at the last minute. A good decision so far.

Needed a laptop with a touch screen, fast processor, burn DVDs with lots of memory space. So far this was a great choice. I stream movies to my tv with it as well. So far I'm very pleased with this HP Laptop.

Good balance between price and performance. Nice features and performance for the price. The touch screen works well. The number of USB ports, HDMI output, and DVD drive gave me the features I needed.

I made a huge leap from my old desktop with Windows Vista, which I loved, to a laptop with Windows 10 I don't like. I like the laptop, it is lighter, no wires( except when charging). It was easy to connect to my wifi and printer. I can take it anywhere, not that I need to. Things I don't like: the keyboard is much smaller and I'm having a problem transferring my old bookmarks to Windows 10. I'm still trying to find my way around all the new settings on this new laptop and Windows 10.

This laptop is okay for the price. Nothing about it is exceptional and I have no major problems. I will say I am not too impressed with the battery life. It seems to drain quickly when not plugged in. It also seems to lose its charge quickly when the screen is closed. Past laptops would retain a charge for a week if it just sat somewhere not being used. This one needs to be plugged back in. I wouldn't have a problem recommending it to a friend for basic needs.

It's a peppy laptop, that can be upgraded. The RAM can be upgraded to 16 Gig, and I had a SSD installed by the Geek Squad to replace the older 1TB slower Hard Drive. Touch screen works great, and the size is deal-able. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT 5 STARS, but you need to know the only monitor output is HDMI. So if your like me and you still have an older monitor, you will have to by a converter / adapter to use is on the laptop's HDMI port output. I did not see that advertised when researching the unit. But hey, you can also use it on your flat screen TV, WITHOUT a convertor.

I didn't really want to buy a new computer but your staff was wonderful. They found me this great HP laptop right within my price range and then added in a compatible printer. The price was very fair and the staff was informative but never pushy.

This unit replaces an older Xp unit that was a workhorse that is unfortunately no longer supported. The windows 10 software is a bit different, especially for us iOS users. The unit is rather fast and seems to do the data crunching we do from time to time. This bottom of the price range unit is doing the work of more expensive units and presents a great value for someone who is not loading it up. We complement this unit with other devices but do like the options provided by this. Due to youthful users also being on this unit we also have it set up with different log ins and accesses.

This is by far the best laptop ive ever used. The ability to jump from touchscreen to the keys is my favorite. It does so much and the price was great.

I am really impressed with this laptops speed and ability to run multiple programs. I like the Intel core Processors much better than the AMD processors too.

We wanted a touch screen computer but didn't have much money to spend. This was a great pick for us. Has done everything we needed and didn't break the bank.
