We had our laptop die on us so we waited a few months before finding a great deal on this computer. We are more than satisfied with it. I mainly do internet work and email checking, etc. Over the past years I have been clouding all my pictures, documents, etc on Google Drive, also using Google Voice to make calls. This computer is perfect for me and my husband because we can type up documents, save pictures and make calls easily with the saved apps. When we get more into graphic design and editing videos we plan on purchasing a computer capable of those things. This is all you need to do your internet stuff and anything regarding Google Play. The only down side is not having access to iTunes for my music. I like the Hdmi port so we can link it to our tv to watch Amazon Prime movies. I highly recommend this computer! It boots super fast and makes absolutely no sound like a fan running, etc. Really impressed! Works great with our 1TB external hard drive, since it only has 16GB built it. Picture is crisp and videos play smoothly. Strong wireless signal. Great little machine, can't say enough about it!

This is hands down one of the best purchases I have made this year. I can turn this laptop on and get online in less than 30 seconds (15 in some cases). It is light, produces almost no heat and has close to 10 hours of battery life. Moreover, it cost less than 170 dollars with tax! If you are looking for a computer to only use online then this is the one for you.

I have been an ardent Mac user for more than a decade, and trusted my Mac daily for my work (I'm a web developer, dealing in Rails & PHP). I bought this on a lark after reading some blog posts about converting to Cloud IDEs and rocking the lighter OS. All in all, I am *utterly* blown away. This machine is breathtakingly quick for something so small and rather weak. You'll never feel the 2 gigs of RAM as a nuisance. Better still, it runs everything I need it to do for my work without any fuss. I can blast Spotify and code in Cloud9 or Nitrous.io without any complications. For the price, it's unbeatable. I have had one OS hiccup, and it was my fault. Other than this single instance, it has never failed me. Love this little dude, and will use it until the wheels fall off.

If you're not familiar with the sorts of things ChromeOS can and can't do, you should look into that before buying anything. If you search Google for things like what is a chromebook and ChromeOS limitations, you'll run into some nice articles that go over it. My feeling is that ChromeOS is designed to do a limited set of things, but it does them well. It allows me to get certain parts of my work done more easily, using a device that has a REALLY long battery life and is small and very light. I love the fact that I can easily grab a Chromebook and move to work in another location when my dog wants to cuddle or I'm overseeing a kid working on a homework assignment, and I don't have to worry about whether the battery will hold up or whatever. The key thing is making sure that you have a clear idea of what you want to do and whether ChromeOS can do that. If you want to install Steam games or play Minecraft, this is NOT the laptop for you (unless you're comfortable with installing Linux on it, which doesn't apply to the average person). If you want to interact with websites, write blog posts, and take online classes, these are really great to have.

Let's be honest. This is not a high end full blown computer. It will not run high end software or provide really great graphics. It was never meant to. It is an Internet access device. Nothing more. It is great for that! It's light, affordable, and it works. As an over-the-road driver, the size and weight of the device makes it very usable. I use it to play standard def video from a SD card using a cheap Bluetooth headset and it is perfect. I also use it to access the Internet when my Note 3 or my Tab A tablet isn't large enough. The chrome browser (which is also the operating system) is secure enough and very easy to use. This is probably the simplest device I've owned or used. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't need a full computer but needs the form factor (keyboard and display) like a laptop. It can be an excellent solution for younger users as well as older adults who can use the simpler device.

Wasn't much of laptop fan before, as most basic internet related activities can be solved using smartphone/tablets. for rare occasion of complex computing, rather preferred desktop over laptop. so laptop had no place for use for a good few years. but sudden need for laptop turned my interest for inexpensive option for a laptop, as other usual gadgets are still intact and working. this need for a laptop, turned to research, and decided on a chromebook that was least expensive option. personally, best decision ever. almost stop using tablet as this gives more comfortable viewing than tablet. superfast and responsive. tablet will never operate at this speed. of course, desktop is even faster, but lacks this 2.5lbs portability. honestly, it's like carrying ipad with keyboard, except faster. ipad has better display, but than again, it does than most things out there, and comes with sky high price tag. you can't beat this price. anyways, i think it's good if you are looking for a simple laptop for simple use.

Long story short, if you are in the market for a budget minded Chromebook, look no further, Bought this for my wife, so she can work on her schoolwork (Elementary school teacher) and upload her work that she does at home, into her cloud drive, and then transfer it to her work computers. Had it over at my parents house one evening, and my mom took a liking to it, so I ordered her one as well. Excellent battery life, lightweight, quiet (no fan, but with hours of consecutive use, we haven't noticed considerable heat) I like the fact that the charging cable has an L shaped bend made into it, to avoid any damage to the cable, from it twisting and turning (my wife happens to be rough on chargers, so this was an immediate plus for us.) It looks great, and performs nicely.

bought this for my mom, she is NOT computer literate. so far she LOVES this thing. its light. charges fast and lasts FOREVER. i was weary about the "always online" feature; but it actually doesnt affect anything as long as you are within wi-fi (which she is 24/7). boots up in 3 seconds, compatible with all the major apps. easy. simple. sleek. light. fast. done.

I needed something simple and portable, as my laptop's battery is completely dead and I only had a desktop. I wanted something to be able to take around the house with me to surf the web on. This Chromebook is perfect for that. It's very fast for that purpose and for powering on and off. Make sure you understand that Chromebooks have a very small amount of memory and you can't use familiar programs such as iTunes and Microsoft Office. If you know what you're getting and you're okay with the limitations of a Chromebook, you can't go wrong with this one, especially for the price.

This is my first chromebook. Before I bought this, I didn't really know what a chromebook was. I hate that I cannot download or install many things on it. I probably will not buy another one in the future. This is perfect to bring with on vacation, for some simple web browsing. it's light, compact, fast, has good battery life (around 6 hours) and cheap (I don't worry it being stolen). Chromebook functions just like a tablet but with keyboard. As a chromebook, it's a good one.

This is my first laptop. I LOVE IT!!! It's simple and easy to use. I also like that it is lightweight. Also, the price was GREAT. Cant beat $99 for a good laptop. Overall GREAT product.

Since I retired I have no need to do spread sheets and Word documents much but we still like to browse, do banking and shop. I had heard of Chromebooks but was reluctant to try them until I looked at this one. What an amazing change in the way we use a laptop now!!!! This little Chromebook is always cool, has no moving parts and lasts all day for our needs. We just keep in around and when we open it it turns on instantly and is online ready to go. No booting up or locked screens either. It is the neatest new gadget in my arsenal. We really enjoy its ease of use. It is also secure with better protection against viruses. We use a large capacity SD card to move important files from the Chromebook to another portable hard drive where we back up everything now. When we have a bit of work to do on it we attach a wireless mouse now and then. Great device. Great price.

We got this for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. She wanted this exact one! All the reviews helped me choose it. It's fast, little, and keeps a charge. My daughter watches you tube videos on it constantly. She also watches Netflix and has never had any issues!! Overall for the price we are extremely pleased!

My laptop died and I needed an inexpensive alternative. Geek Squad recommended the Chrome. It's! perfect! I need email, some writing ability and video streaming - the Chrome does it all well and was something I could afford. It is small, fits in my bag and has ample battery time. I would suggest the Chrome for anyone needing minimal use for a good price.

I am a college student and I was looking for an inexpensive and light laptop to take with me to school. This laptop is awesome!! I was concerned at first about the lack of Microsoft office capabilities, but my school offers an online version. Google docs also works well as a substitute. Without WiFi this computer can't do much, but I haven't had a problem with that yet, because everywhere I go I have access to wifi (work, school, home). Great for surfing the web, taking notes, or watching Netflix. I was surprised at how fast this computer works in comparison to some pc laptops I have had in the past. Very fast, great quality, lightweight, and over all a very good deal for the price. I would absolutely recommend this to students, writers, or others who just need good computer for very cheap.

Not a lot of use yet in the first month of ownership, but confident it will work well for me since it is nearly identical to an Acer Chromebook that has served me very well for the past couple of years. Only real downside is it doesn't interface to our network printer, but we knew that going in (we have a Windows laptop for our printing needs). The small size and light weight of this chromebook make it excellent for travelling. Boots up much quicker than any other desktop or laptop we have ever owned.

I was sceptical changing from hp and word but this computer is awesome! I now use Google docs and drive. Very lightweight, fast, & reasonably priced! So glad I swiched to chromebook. My high school senior loves hers too..fits very easily in a backpack.

What a wonderful little product. Its quick and easy to use and oh so affordable. No it doesn't have many bells and whistles but I am sure if I wanted to I could have spent much more money and gotten them. It really is a sweet little item, so much so I bought an extra one to give to my daughter. Reminds me of my phone with a bigger screen. Havent figured out the printing yet. That will be next.
