Aesthetically, this is an attractive device. Although the chassis is made almost entirely of plastic, it is of decent quality, and the silver finish does give the impression of being actual metal. The laptop is lightweight with a small profile, making it highly portable. The keyboard is of good size with keys that have good travel which are satisfying to type on. I wish they were backlit, though. The bezels are huge, especially the chin, making the screen seem smaller than it is. Still, the IPS screen is perfect for the 1366x768 resolution (720p+) as it looks crisp, and the brightness does well in daylight. I appreciate the damage-resistant, Gorilla Glass touchscreen but is highly reflective under bright lights and sun. This is my first experience with a Chromebook laptop. Setting up the PC is super simple enough. Chrome OS is straightforward. The Google app store offers most apps, including android. However, some apps such as MS Office are not available, but can be accessed through the browser. The Spin 11 specs are on the low end, from memory to space, which does make the experience a little bit sluggish. However, it should be enough for most users as this device is intended for productivity, browsing, and content consumption. It helps that it does not overheat, making it great for couch use. I will say that I am impressed by the lighting-fast booting times. The battery life is remarkable. I used the device for long periods and didn’t have to recharge it for 3 days. You can’t have this on most tablets, let alone a laptop. This provides me peace of mind while on the go. It charges fast via USB-C. Speaking of inputs, the laptop offers a USB-C (3.1), USB (2.0), and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is the minimum one would expect. I am a bit disappointed that this device offers outdated Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. Still, I had no issues with either protocol. Being a 2-1 device, it can be used in several ways such as “tent” and tablet mode. Since this is a touch screen, it works well in either mode. The keyboard “deactivates” to avoid accidental key presses. This is pretty cool and welcome, but I will say that handling it in tablet mode can be a bit cumbersome, as it weighs 2.3 lbs. (again, light for a laptop), and holding it in one hand can be tiring, so I tend to lay it on my forearm for support. Lastly, the speakers are louder than I had expected. As is the case with most laptops, there is no real bass to speak of. Still, the sound is quite clear and natural with minimal distortion. I would still use headsets when possible. The camera is not too shabby either. Even at a 720p resolution, it is clear and responds well to lighting adjustments. The microphone picks up well enough. Oh, and a couple of camera sliders were included for those who worry about privacy -nice touch! In the end, I would consider the Acer Spin 11 a decent entry into the Chrome OS ecosystem. The sturdy build is a big plus for younger users. It offers a level of portability, reliability, simplicity, and versatility at a very budget-friendly price point.

I am pleasantly surprised with this Acer Chromebook Spin 311. This is a 11.6” 2-in-1 convertible Chromebook that looks really basic. The chassis is made of plastic, and the thick bezels even make it look cheap. We’ll address the bezels later. As it is a 2-in-1, you can flip the screen backwards (thus the name Flip) and now you can use it in tablet mode. I felt that the hinges are not that loose when flipping it over, but when in standard computer mode, you can touch the screen but it does wobble when you do that. The all plastic build makes this really light to hold. It weighs a little over 2 lbs and feels comfortable in the hands when in tablet mode. The screen is on the lower resolution side, and the large bezels really make the experience not that good. I understand that it gives you more real estate for your hands to hold when in tablet mode, so you are not touching the screen, but you really could’ve lessened those bezels and make this a 12.4 inch screen. It reminds me of an older premium Chromebook that was released in 2017 with those large bezels. Despite a low resolution, I felt that reading was fine and watching videos were not that bad, especially with that glossy gorilla glass screen. The keyboard is actually very good. I have good key travel, and the keys are well-spaced so my fingers don’t feel cramped at all. They are very comfortable to type on, as they have this hard plastic feel. Unfortunately, there is no backlight keyboard so I have a hard time typing on this at night in bed. The touchpad is responsive, doesn’t feel small at all. Clicking sound is not too lout which is nice. The IO is really poor on this. It only comes with a USB-C port and a USB-A. There is no Thunderbolt. The USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 1, so around 5 gbps data transfers.I felt Acer could’ve put another USB-C on the other side to provide the charging cable to go either way, like many other Chromebooks out in the market. There is a Security lock so I believe that the Spin 311 was targeting schools. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack so that at least allows me to use headphones that are not Bluetooth. The speakers are decent, really can hear the high-kids so hearing speaking/music vocals are nice. Since there are no bass on this, I’d rather use the headphones. Where I was really surprised was the overall performance of the Spin 311. It has a MediTek processor, but it feels snappy and websites and YouTube videos load really fast. It’s low powered processor, so it is really efficient in power and I noticed as long as 17 hours battery life when doing simple tasks or watching videos. It comes with 4 GB of RAM so it is plenty enough for doing light work productivity. I have not experience and slowdowns or stutters, again, a really snappy Chromebook. This has 64 GBs of storage, so it is on the lower end. It’s 2023, so I wished it would’ve been double that which should be the overall standard and there is no micro-usb for expansion. Overall, not the best specs out there but for what it does have, I was surprised at how it performed. Yes, the screen could’ve been widened to make it look more modern, but a lot of the design sacrifices were made to keep this on the budget. I used this as my primary work station for a week and I felt it did the job well, but it would not be a good solution for any long term purposes. This would be a good Chromebook for e learning or simple work.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is a convertible 11.6” laptop with a basic LCD HD Multi-touch display built with a power efficient MediaTek 500 processor that provides basic performance and great battery life. It comes with 64 GB eMMC storage which is more than enough for general web use and apps. 4 GB of memory is sufficient for simultaneously running a few Chrome web tabs, watching YouTube videos, though it will get a bit sluggish if you never close unused apps. It came with a USB-C charger which helps fully charge the Lithium battery only in a couple of hours. I have not been able to use it for 15 hours consecutively, but I can say it lasted at least 10 hours of mixed use over a few days, mostly web, youtube and Netflix. This chromebook has two USB ports - 1 USB-C 3.1 and 1 USB-A 2.0 slots on each side. Additionally, it still has a standard headphone jack. The built-in 720p Webcam, microphone and speakers complete the package that also make teleconferencing easy. It worked well when I tried it with Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The keyboard has a nice solid feel to it, just enough key travel but unfortunately it is not backlit, but I guess at the under $200 price point it’s to be expected. The touchpad is responsive and supports basic trackpad gestures like scrolling, zoom in and out, right-click. The overall built quality is OK, light weight, cause it’s all plastic with some sharp edges around the bottom back-sides. The screen is a lot larger than the actual 11.6” viewable LCD. The bezels are quite large all around, especially on the bottom. I would have preferred a smaller overall footprint, even if it meant a smaller keyboard. Alternatively a larger usable LCD viewable area would have definitely fit, probably close to 13”, but I’m sure that would have increased the cost. Interestingly enough the screen is built with “Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass”. The 2-in-1 design 360 degree hinge allows you to view at any angle, turn it into a tablet, or stand it up as a tent when watching movies in bed, etc...all in all a very affordable, versatile Chromebook.

This is more like a tablet with a keyboard than a laptop or fully functional chromebook. While some of the chromebook laptops went crazy on resources: I5, I7 and 16GB RAM… We all know that for basic internet related tasks you won’t need all that power. Most of the applications and programs would run just fine in limited resources conditions. This Acer with Mediatek processor is just what you might need in a secondary device to have around and to carry. It is very light weight, strong build (despite being plastic) and has amazing battery life. I agree that the screen is not the best in class and the bezels are on the huge side (maybe because of the limited GPU capability) but you can still do some essential tasks on it just fine. The keyboard is very nice to type on. I like the key travel and the quietness of it. The touch pad can be better but it is still functional. The laptop lacks connectivity ports. It has one USB-C, one USB and audio jack. And for some reason, it has a Kensington lock… Maybe Acer has this chromebook targeted for school use or some display info entering device… I’ve seen some chromebooks used like that in companies: to register access or sign-in arrival. The webcam is kind of acceptable to low quality. Still better than some high price computer’s quality… The screen resolution is not the best but it is acceptable. Just Acer included the unnecessary “Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass” embedded in the screen… The touch screen is accurate and good. No problems using it in tablet mode. Works fine. No glitches or issues with that. Battery life is amazing. It pushed for about 10h on the first charge without any issue… Acer claims 15h on battery and I believe that's possible. This chromebook has the MediaTek Kompanio 500 (MT8183) which is not bad for what is being used for but it offers the 64-bit but it is running a 32-bit ChromeOS…. Also, according to Mediatek, this processor has also an FM radio and a GPS. Acer isn’t using any of them. FM radio on this one would be a very nice feature… I am not sure if there is a way to access it. I tried with some radio tuner apps but it doesn’t work. It also lacks keyboard backlights… I believe every laptop should have the backlights by default. It should not be optional… Speakers and microphone are on the average side. Nothing too crazy or too bad. Just good for the daily tasks. I tried to connect it to an external screen using my USB-C to HDMI, it worked fine but my adapter doesn’t have a power connector and the Acer has only one USB-C that can be used for charging and video. Still, with a full battery, it can take about 10h of streaming which is good enough. I needed something like a tablet with a keyboard but not a full laptop. This Acer is just what I need. Doing the job. I recommend it for what it is made for.

This Acer Chromebook is the latest line of Acer’s highly popular Spin 311 series. Like its previous predecessors, it is a touch screen Chromebook and is capable flip at 360 degrees making it a tablet albeit thick. And like most Chromebook nowadays, the Spin 311 also supports Android apps. (But one thing to note though is that for those who prefer to use Microsoft/Office 365, the Android are no longer available in the Google app store and you have to use the web version.) This latest iteration of the Spin 311 series still sports the 11 inch screen which IMO is still ideal for general use overall. This model is is a bit thinner than previous models and is quite welcome. But one thing to note though is that it now sports the MediaTek chip which is seven times faster than the Celeron chips found in other notebooks. Plus it has an Auto Update Expiry of until 2028 making this a sound investment. Arguably, the one this that may be a dealbreaker for some is the unit’s lack of USI pen support. As such, apps like Squid which is a note thing app is quite limited. Personally, I find USI support good for collaboration. But your needs may be different from mine. But to to this limitation, I am removing one star for this otherwise fine Chromebook. Still I find this Chromebook quite robust and still recommend it to those who have no need for USI pen support.

My boy has been bringing a chromebook home from school for a couple of years now, I wanted something that can keep him being productive, but also have an opportunity to play. Since he is already familiar with the platform I figured this would be a great choice. I like the range of available devices for a reasonable price, the one thing I really liked about the Acer Spin 311 is the fact that you can fold the device over and use is in several standing positions or even folded all the way back as a tablet. I don't need to worry about the hinges being bent back with the 360 hinge. In my use, the set up was really easy, I added my gmail account and configured all of the device settings. I watched a couple videos and browsed a bit getting familiar with the operating system. The combination of screen and processors gives the device a 15 hours of battery life. After making sure the devices was set up, I went in and added the child account and was able to set up browsing restrictions and limiting time in apps to not keep him glued to the screen. He has been enjoying the Chromebook in his use so far, this gives him his personal device, which is also very light at 2.31lbs! When travelling this will definitely be the device we take with us. I would recommend a Chromebook, if it fits your needs. For kids I feel it's great, and this one stood out for the 360 hinge and it does not disappoint for the multiple ways it can be used. But it's also not overly complicated if you'd like to get someone in your family that isn't very savvy but would like a way to browse or watch videos, with light app gaming. An attached keyboard is a win in my book, compared to most other options.

This acer chromebook is perfect for me. I needed a tablet/laptop. That is small petite lightweight for travel. And this is perfect. Turn on sign up login and you are literally up and running in less than five minutes. With a full charge. I can’t be on the Internet all day, including my zoom meetings. And with the decent, audio and video, I can also brush up on learning via YouTube. The only thing I’m not a fan of is that the video isn’t clear when I am showing my face in zoom meetings. It’s a little blotchy and the coloring is a little off. Even in HD mode it isn’t the best video. But considering how simple this Chromebook is, you can’t really expect the best of everything. This laptop tablet works great because you’re able to fold it backwards and it feels just like a tablet or you can unfold it and use the well-built keyboard and mouse pad. Charging doesn’t take very long, so that’s helpful. It’s light in my purse and or luggage and great for travel. The features are super simple and easy to learn. Great product.

I work a lot of events outside and need a tablet/laptop I can use all day. This worked perfect. Setup for this for me was as simple as signing in, when Google saw I had another I was asked if I want to copy everything from my other laptop to this, and that was it. The battery lasts all day for me, it is super simple to use. Lot of touches to the screen did not seem to do anything detrimental to the screen. I did wipe it down very often. I would definitely use this for more simple tasks such as video watching, note taking, writing a paper etc. This does have 2 USB-C ports. USB -C is becoming the norm. Was a little odd to see an older USB and audio ports you can use also. Nothing bad, but you could have shaved a little off the weight and taken out those 2. This is not heavy at all. My only complaint is the screen and reflectivity. As you can see in the picture it is super reflective, this is more noticeable when there is more light. There are films you can put on a screen to help with this.

If you're in the market for a small portable device that wont take up a lot of desk space, and that you can use on your lap while sitting on the recliner, then this is the one for you. Battery life is insanely good, this is the first device Ive ever had that I can leave the charger at home and know it will get me thru the day and then some. The mediatek processor is also great for retroemulation, retroarch and redream run at 60 fps. I played games for about 8 hours and the battery only dipped like 60%. The IPS screen is nice and bright, resolution is great for the screen size, the only downsides are the huge bezels and the ACER logo just staring at you 24/7. A little bit of electrical tape fixed that. I took away one star because of the bezels and acer logo, but at this price I can live with that.

I'm very happy with this purchase. After doing research for a 11" Chromebook under various brand names & specs, this was one of my top 2 choices. Just so happened it went on sale which gave me the push to buy this one The appearance, 64 gigs of memory & the fact that it's lightweight is really great. Screen has good colors & the battery lasts up to 11 hours, The speed is suitable on some applications but sometimes can lag a bit while waiting for certain webpages to load. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this Chromebook & FYI, you'll have automatic updates until June 2028.

2nd one Ive bought within a few months because i had gotten one for my daughter and decided i wanted one myself. My daugher is 8 and like any kid is rough on things and it is still holding up well. Perfect for her roblox and her digital art. Great size screen. Kiddo loves the 360 fuction to play as a tablet as if its on a stand, and i enjoy it to prop up while im doing craft videos and can easily just tap screen vs fumbling with touch pad.

This is a great little Chromebook if you use various Google products. When your typing things it can tell when your grammar is off and makes recommendations of how to fix it. The same can be said for spelling. I know it sounds silly but it helps when you might miss something that your typing. I like being able to see those mistakes since I have OCD. I don't have any complaints about my Chromebook. I would happily recommend this for kids or even an adult. The touchscreen isn't bad either. It's very lightweight which makes its easy to use on your lap or carry. The aftermarket changes that I put on this Chromebook was a rainbow skin over the keyboard. I also bought a shell to cover the top and bottom. Those two items I only spent an additional $30 on but are well worth the investment. I bought this when it was on sale for around $115 from Best Buy.
