This review for the boys/girls that are working hard for something they really want, and that being a gaming pc. The pc is the real deal , just enough to play all of the games you wanna play , the price is at a reasonable price for the budget people , when I started saving for this pc I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t work with games I wanted to play (team fortress 2, cod , etc) but it actually works. But if you want to play really good , then you need a 16gb upgrade and a 1tb HHD, just that and you’re pretty much set for a really good experience. If you’re contemplating to get this pc , just get it I promise you it will be a good experience

This is my first gaming laptop and I bought after thinking for a long time, and this laptop is fantastic for this price point but you should know what you're getting into. There are flaws that can make or break your purchase decision. But if not then this is a great budget gaming laptop. So here are my thoughts. Pros: The performance is fantastic. The Ryzen 5 4600H is a 6 core 12 thread cpu which is unheard of at this price-point and even beats out most 9th and 10th gen intel core i7 processors, so no complain there. Also because this is AMD's Zen 2 7nm CPU the temperatures in this laptop is also amazing. It stays cool to the touch and the temperatures stay in 60s almost all the time when gaming. Another great thing is expand-ability. There is a Sata SSD/HDD bay and another M.2 slot available as well as an RAM slot, and it's really easy to open this laptop. So you can upgrade this laptop A LOT. The backlighting is also great, I don't mind the red. The GTX 1650 graphics is also amazing. I have been able to play all my games at 60fps high settings. The games I've played are Sleeping Dogs, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry. Cons: The biggest con of this laptop is the screen. The colors are terrible out of the box. The reds and greens are over-saturated and the color tone was very warm which made the colors looks terrible. This is however fixable through manually color calibrate the screen. Now the people who don't know how to properly color calibrate the screen will be very disappointed in this screen. The color tone can also be changed to cool which can be found in the AMD Settings Lite app which is pre-installed in the laptop. There are slight backlight bleeds on the screen around the webcam and very little backlight bleed on the right side of the laptop. Now coming from a laptop that had zero backlight bleed this is noticeable to me, but it's not that bad as some other laptops and you can get used to it. It only affects the blacks on the screen but it's fine when you're playing a game or watching a movie. But trust me the screen can be fixed dramatically through color calibration. It took me a while to find just the right colors but it looks great now. The deck feels a little small on the left side, but unless you have big hands like me you should be fine. So these were the pros and cons and trust me they can be overcome if you know how to manually do the things I did. As much as the cons were a pain to deal with I am still very happy with this laptop. I'm giving it a 4 stars since the problems do exist and you have to do more work to fix them, so that's keeping me from giving it a 4 stars. Oh and I recommend buying an extra SSD with the laptop because the 256gb storage this laptop comes with is just too low for gaming or if your transferring you files from a previous device which had a lot of files like I did. I hope this review will be helpful to others who are looking to buy this laptop.

I purchased this little powerhouse as a secondary laptop and did not want to spend too much. I was concerned about some negative reviews. The quality, fit, and finish are on par with much more expensive machines. The case is plastic, but with smooth, higher quality materials at the top of the case and around the keyboard. The keyboard is soft, but with nice travel. Everything feels solid and of higher quality than some reviews would lead to believe. As for the specs, the CPU, and GPU, this is a steal. Also, the machine is very easy to upgrade. There is an extra open slot for memory, 2.5" HDD, and also an extra M.2 slot. HDD cable connector is included in the package.

Let me start off buy saying that this Laptop is amazing, the best you can get for the price, there’s nothing to beat this, but I will say a couple of things, it’s keyboard is kind of small, the right shift key is annoying because whenever I try to press it I end up pressing the Up key, the battery is ok, can last 1-2 hours, and the ram a storage is the best but you can upgrade the ssd and the ram so that a plus. Gaming so far can do good at low to medium settings, the gaming software doesn’t have much options, you can change the fans, I would recommend you change the settings on the keyboard to not turn off every 30 seconds because in the dark you can’t swipe on the mouse pad to make the keyboard light ups, you have to press a key on the keyboard in order to have it turn on. If your looking for a prebuilt desktop, I would buy this, because you can always use a extra monitor or small tv to have a bigger display, plus at most prices prebuilts cost as much as this laptop. Also to mention can have some smudges on on it( Last photo) so it can look pretty unclean. But over all 700-800 bucks is a great deal. You should definitely buy this laptop if your looking for a budget friendly computer

This laptop has the Ryzen 5 4600. Which is a 6 core 12 threas processor that beats out the newest Intel i7 10750h in most areas. The 1650 is perfectly adequate for 1080p gaming and you will see 60fps in most titles with high settings. We bought it for $669 but found that it was on sale today for $599 and so we called and got a price match in a few minutes. For $599 this is an incredible deal. This thing is screaming fast for the price. Even for it's original price it's a fantastic deal. Most other laptops will have you spending closer to $1000 for performance like this, espeically on the processor side. The laptop runs cool and quiet, it has a very well designed cooling solution. The build quality is very good, everything feels solid, especially the hinge, it feels nice to open and close. The keyboard is a solid red backlight, no RGB. I would have preferred regular white backlight over the red but not a big deal. It is also very upgradeable, has room for 3 total hard drives, two m.2 slots and one 2.5" bay. I added a 2tb mechanical drive to the 2.5" bay for extra storage. both ram slots can be switched and the wireless card. But i don't know why you would want to change the wireless card it is a great Killer Wifi 6 card. Screen is bright enough, I estimate it to be around 280-300 nits and color accuracy is decent but not perfect. I didn't see much backlight bleed at all. Of course backlight bleed is very lottery like, you never know how it will be from one machine to the next, including pricier systems. The 8GB of ram should be enough for most tasks and games, However I took out the 8GB stick, listed it on ebay and added a 32gb kit of from crucial (16gb x 2) at 3200mhz. Since I do a lot of editing of raw photos and videos. In closing this is the best entry level gaming laptop you can buy when you consider the price and the performance. It performs like a laptop that costs hundreds more, has the build quality of a more expensive laptop. Also if you are choosing between this one and the identical intel version that is $699, it's no contest, get this one. The ryzen 4600h is loads faster than the i5 in multi core. nearly 2x as fast.

Disclaimer: I ended up returning this after I realized that a) this was never going to leave my home and b) I can get more bang for my buck with a desktop, but if I needed something for gaming and production on the go, there's no way I would have passed up a deal like this. Let me get the cons out of the way first: the gamer-focused design combined with sub-premium build quality makes the laptop look like a toy; the 1080p screen won't win any awards for brightness, clarity, or color accuracy, AND suffers from light bleed around the top; the 720p webcam is mediocre at best; the keyboard and trackpad are just okay, but their housing suffers from serious deck flex; and the fans can get pretty loud during heavy gaming. That said, this thing is a BEAST for less than $700. The new Ryzen processor outperforms its price category AND its Intel counterparts, not just in benchmarks but in real-world performing (assuming the real world is getting sweet, sweet frames with high settings on a video game haha). The mid-range discrete graphics card is okay, but I definitely can't complain at this price. As for the build quality, it's lighter and sturdier than it looks (which, again, is like a toy). Finally, for a laptop, it's surprisingly upgradable. There's an open slot for an additional NVMe SSD, a 2.5" bay for a SATA HDD or SSD, and another slot for 3200 MHz RAM (which I definitely recommend to take advantage of dual-channel performance, although laptop-sixed RAM of this speed is still a little hard to find).

It has been around 6 months since I got it, and so far has not let me down. I did however upgrade to 16GB ram (free slot available) and added an extra 512gb SD drive (also slot available) because games now a days are 120GB each. Recent game im playing is Square Enix's Outriders on high specs and no problem so far. Not too bulky nor heavy to carry around with you on trips. Though as most gaming PCs, the fan can get a bit loud at moments. All in all, great PC at a nice price.

If you lookup "thrifty" in the dictionary it is likely that the definition will include a photo of me. i researched for months a replacement for a dead Dell and decided on this Acer for its processing power, video power and cost. I have not been disappointed by my purchase. I can play all the games I use at max display parameters and the sound is very good. (I'm an old and do not play MMO games.) The battery life is less than 3 hours when gaming, but I rarely am not plugged in when gaming. There power cord has a clever design with the cord at a 90 degree angle from the inset, allowing the cord to rotate instead of straining a lengthy straight connection. The power connection requires two clicks to connect, undoubtedly the reason others complain about its function. I have yet to find anything to complain about this laptop. It is lightening fast on the internet and the WIFI connection is very good. It foes get a little hot while gaming, but this doesn't occur when doing anything else. I did purchase another 8 GB RAM stick and the installation was easy with an accessible empty slot and at the same time I added my old secondary HD in another very easy alteration. The nearby Best Buy was out of stock so I chose the free home delivery option and it was delivered the next day, beating the promised date by 5 days! The camera is superb, probably because the graphics card permits it use at the highest settings.

I bought this to replace my desktop and laptop in one swoop. I'll only be using it as a laptop occassionally, and it has plenty of ports to facilitate desktop duty with my 4 port hub. So far so good. It runs COOL compared to higher spec'd rigs, probably due to the low TDP graphics card and overall better efficiency of the new gen Ryzen mobile cpu's vs their Intel counterparts. I'm talking ~60c playing Forza in a room @ about 70f ambient temp, flat on the table. Considering the MSI Raider I also tested w/ 10750H and RTX2060 was running about 90+/75 on the CPU/GPU, I'll take this one. Half the price, and holds its own on most AAA titles. I’ll start off by addressing a few of the main questions/concerns. • It is a 60hz screen, but it is bright enough and colors ‘look good’. I’ve got an S10 which takes pretty colorful/saturated pictures and they really pop. There is slight light bleed, brightest spot being top center, same spot noted by an online tech reviewer. Not a big deal for me, expect it if you buy one. • It is definitely upgrade-able. ^ I haven’t tried RAID, but I bought a 1tb Intel 660P series NVME which works perfectly (have to go into drive manager to format it so it will show up). ^ I also bought an 8GB stick of Crucial ram (Model # CT8G4SFS832A), which the label on it actually says ‘by Micron’ who also makes the stick that came in the Nitro 5. In HW Info it actually comes up as the same model number which is both weird and possibly awesome. It was flawless during a memtest. I HIGHLY recommend doing at least this, for like $38 now on Amazon, as it will double the bandwidth of the integrated graphics from ~26gb/s to ~52gb/s and seemed to improve overall system speed and stability. In short, the integrated graphics now smoke my old PC’s R7 370. Without it you’ll be bumping max ram just using Chrome. • Battery life…this is a gaming laptop, but it has a larger than average battery for this price point @ 57wh compared to say the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 that just released @ 45wh. ESPECIALLY when paired with the watt sipper of a CPU this 4600H is. The best way to eek out decent life is by making some adjustments. Under advanced power settings, change Switchable Dynamic Graphics to ‘Force Power Saving’, and AMD Power Slider / AMD Graphics Power Settings to their most power saving settings. By forcing power saving graphics, the intent is to not have the GTX 1650 doing anything, cutting power use in half (or more). I also suggest in Processor Power Management changing Maximum Processor State to 99%, this will prevent the processor from Turbo-ing. Doing this I was looking at ~3 hours gaming. Haven’t tried just dinking around online for a full battery yet but based on a few periods doing that windows was saying 6+ hours easy (with above settings possibly more). A few items of note: ^ The box says battery is 57wh, contrary to what it says in some other places. ^ In the Acer Care Center -> Checkup -> 2nd tab over in Battery, there is a charge limit setting that will stop charging at 80%. This is great if you’re leaving it plugged in a lot like I am. Things I like: * Good build quality * Good Screen, especially for the price * Insanely fast processor * Larger than expected battery * Great expansion, even comes with cable for 2.5 drive and screw for M.2, like holy cow who actually does that anymore? Acer apparently * Things that could be improved * Speakers are kind of tinny, what do you expect for $670 * USB C port does not support displayport (ie: I used a USB C hub with HDMI out and it would not work, google it, this does not support thunderbolt stuff) * It did a weird thing coming out of sleep once where the USB mouse was unresponsive, could have been a fluke, I’ve since done a full reset and it hasn’t happened before or after that * I don't like the charge plug, it seems strong enough but coming from that square Lenovo style it strikes me as a weak point in comparison * Things that are simply true * Mousepad is fine. Smooth and responsive, would prefer dedicated buttons but not going to complain * Keyboard is slightly better than expected, totally useable *

I originally purchased the new Asus G14 with Ryzen 4900hs. That laptop performed very well for games, but got very loud and very hot. I ended up returning it because of a glitch where the fans would randomly go to max and wouldn't decrease unless I turn off the laptop. This laptop is a fraction of the price of the Asus G14, but I feel this laptop is a much better value with performance that is about 80% of that laptop. Here is what I have noticed.... Screen: Brightness: The Nitro 5 brightness is on par with the G14 at what appears to be about 300 nits brightness. Refresh Rate: The Nitro 5 is a 60hz panel, but it has less latency than the G14 so I am able to play high speed games like Warzone and Forza 4 horizon better than playing on the G14. Noise and Fans: Fans: When playing games the G14 maxes fans within about a minute of starting a game and stays maxed the whole time. The Nitro 5 seems to only run about 60-70% of max while playing even the most intense games/graphics settings. Noise: From reviews I have seen, both the G14 and Nitro 5 have noise of similar decibels. However, reviews don't take into account the pitch of the noise. The G14 is higher pitched making it sound much louder compared to the Nitro 5 which is a lower pitch whoosh sort of noise. This makes gaming much more bearable for playing without needing to wear headphones. Temps: The Nitro 5 remains cool to the touch during heavy gaming while the G14 would get so hot towards the top right of the keyboard area that it would be hard to touch that area. Speed: Processor: The 4600h is very fast and to me does not appear slower than the 4900hs in daily use. You may notice differences in heavy processing such as photoshop, Lightroom or video editing, but daily use/gaming there appears to be no difference. SSD: The nvme SSD in the Nitro 5 is very fast as well. Bootup times are instant and appear to be just as fast as the G14. Loading games is also very fast. Ram: The RAM in the Nitro 5 is listed as being DDR4 3200mhz. It is also very fast, but if you want more ram to run in dual channel, it will be expensive to find a laptop 3200mhz chip. Graphics: The Gtx 1650 is able to play most games on high/ultra settings and keep pretty close the 60hz limit of the screen. It doesn't compare to the Rtx 2070 in the G14, but you don't need much more than the 1650 because of the screen limitations. The 1660ti would have been nice, but I don't feel like the games are limited when playing. For instance, Forza Horizon 4 gives a warning that the laptop doesn't meet minimum requirements when booting up the game, however I am able to play on ultra settings the frame rate stays at 60 fps the entire time. Keyboard: If I would rate the keyboard vs the G14 keyboard I would rate the G14 at 10 and the Nitro 5 at a 9. It is very high quality with nice response, however it feels just slightly lower quality. Build Quality: The Nitro 5 feels similar in build quality to the Asus TUF laptops. It seems like it will hold up very well over time. I wasn't impressed with the magnesium body of the G14 as it felt very thin when tapping on the body. Speakers: I would rate the Nitro 5 speakers at a 4 compared to a 10 for the G14. The G14 is much louder and with the Dolby Atmos it creates a 3d surround sound presence that is unbelievable. Battery Life: I haven't had the chance to test battery life yet, but from what I hear you can get 10 hours of light use out of the Nitro 5 due to the Ryzen 4600h. I believe it. The G14 is similar or even slightly better. Overall: I am VERY impressed with the quality and value of the Nitro 5. I would consider this to be the best deal you can buy for 2020 for a reasonably priced gaming laptop that can also be used for work/school. I highly recommend this laptop.

This is a fantastic purchase. Newest gen AMD CPU, discrete graphics card AND it's significantly upgradeable (hard drive and RAM), really adding to its longevity. The screen is good. It's not going to set the world on fire, but it's bright, vivid and a good size. It's fast. The AMD processor screams. The GPU can handle even newer games at decent setting levels. I... oddly love typing on this thing. The red backlight is... eh (plz stop with "gaming aesthetic..."), but you can clearly see the keys. But man, for some reason I find this thing a joy to type on. Only "negatives" are the aforementioned "gaming aesthetic" (which, to be fair, is actually decent on this one) and it's heavy, which is to be expected with a 17" laptop with a discrete GPU. Those are super, super minor, unless you're looking for an ultraportable laptop, which this ain't. Even the gaming aesthetic is tasteful and more subtle than a lot of gaming laptops. One other minor quibble is that the webcam isn't the best quality. It's a bit grainy. That's not really a big deal to me and certainly not a reason to avoid this laptop. This thing is a freaking STEAL.

This is the best Acer Nitro notebook yet. The Ryzen Renoir hexacore 4600h processor puts its performance well past any of the Intel or older AMD models. Alas no computer is perfect as the palmrest side to the left of the keyboard has very little space so your left hand ends up coming in at a bit of an odd angle. The screen is 60hz 1080p which is fine for this price range. The color gamut is not great so I wouldn't recommend serious video or photo editing on it. For gaming, you will want to have it plugged in to power as it will drain the battery quickly. When not gaming, the battery life is great, like 10 hours in my experience. The cooling fans, vents and heat sinks are great and the processor doesn't throttle at all like some of the competitors (Asus TUF, Dell G5 SE). For the price or anything below $900, you will not be able to beat this notebook. Reasonable upgrades if you want at some point would be another 8 GB of memory (dual channel would improve performance a bit) and another m.2 SSD (256GB isn't a ton).

I originally had the Acer nitro 5 with the i5 and a 1050, and it did the job. Mobile gaming on a budget. This though kicks it out of the way with the Ryzen 4600h and the 1650. Sure, it’s only 256 gb SSD, but I use it to play Destiny 2 on high settings on the go. The nitro sense does an amazing job at allowing you to control fan speed for performance or quality. I also added the ryzen software to keep my chipset up to date and that allows me to control and setup the gaming to how I like for performance vs quality. The fans aren’t loud at normal operating settings, but it’s budget and if you decide to ramp them up for FPS performance, you’ll notice them, then again I always wear a headset to so no bother to me. The top of the laptop, above the top keys, is where the heat sink is at so it’ll be noticeably warmer then anywhere else. But who lays their hands or fingers there anyways. So I’m not knocking a star for that. The speakers are weak though. Can’t argue that. Even with the Dolby Sound, its just passable, but again I wear headphones. The screen is a typical 60hz IPS but the nit brightness lacks in luster to a high end laptop. It’s still great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a contender at this price. RAM is upgradable, easy to access and so it either putting another ssd or hdd. So overall, strong recommendation for this little beast. I love him and would hands down (I already have to several people) recommend this to others who travel and still want to game, but don’t wanna break the bank with next gen consoles of GPUs coming out. Not to mention, excellent pick for your young gamer to start out on.

This is probably the cheapest gaming laptop you will find in new condition , even used other laptops are slightly cheaper but are way older and worser specs for video card. There’s an issue with this laptop though, once a day it would randomly crash and blue screen comes in with an error for nvidia . Maybe cause it’s amd and nvidia together? Not sure. Otherwise haven’t had other issues yet and it plays games okay, haven’t tried super heavy games . When I first got it, it didn’t turn on with the push of the button until I plugged the power in, and like others say, plug it all the way in, the plug goes in the middle of the rear below the screen panel . The fans are nice, they intake from the sides and blow out the back . Keyboard is lit red but will turn off the light , so have to constantly press a button for it to lite up, might be changeable
