The only reason I did was that my wife wanted my old phone to move from Android. Both these phones are the same, short of the force touch function which I personally thought was cool but always forget about it and don't use it. The processor is faster but honestly I don't notice a difference. I never had performance issues with the old one. The only reason I gave this an average rating is because Apple no longer truly innovates they just re-create with round edges instead of squared or silliness like that. If this was your first iPhone - you'd love it.
