The Apple Mac mini M4 base model is tiny and plenty powerful enough for tasks beyond everyday multitasking. I use this device to stream 1080p content from OBS studio with no difficulty with multi other programs running and tabs opened. I would still recommend a model with high Memory for heavy duty tasks or 4k 120fps gaming; In addition the 256gb of storage is plenty with an external drive and the cloud. This also makes the device more cost efficient. I use a samsung curved 1440p gaming monitor with my Mac Mini and have no trouble connecting to the display; However, you must turn on HDR and fiddle with the settings of both the monitor and the display options on the Mac Mini to the extent I found it appropriate to mention if you care about the best picture quality. Something also worthy of note is I’m using a microsft arc surface mouse and a samsung keyboard. The set-up was a little frustrating at first but all you need to do is press the power button three times to connect the mouse and then the keyboard. So far, I have not heard the fan once while playing runescape or any other title that I have available. All that with OBS studio and others software running. Normally, I am used to fans and heat radiating from all my devices and I’m thouroughly suprised how cold the Mac Mini M4 runs. I am impressed by this device and I’m happy to have learned apple uses a proper M4 chip or, if you are lucky, a M4 pro chip in the base models. This tiny powerful device also ensures logevity with the emegence of AI and the adaption of ARM technology apple is so good at. You can even pick up this machine on sale for under $500 before taxes often. I splurged on this device and paid the full price but it was so worth it for me! I hope you found this review helpful and the apple OS was no problem for me to learn coming from Microsoft software. I also picked up an iphone 16 pro to go with my Mac Mini M4 I loved it so much. Good day everyone!

It really worth the money you pay. I use sometimes for working outside home during my lectures and it is better then my Macbook Air. The Mac Mini M4 is fast, small, energy savier and have a great inbuilt speakers. I'm using it with the Ugreen dock. You won`t regreat buying it.

Apple products are usually priced well above their counterparts equivalent product. Now…I never run my computers super hard but using this thing for music production has been amazing. Using an audio interface to record guitar, bass, drums, vocals…everything works so well. Especially when using a VST for electronic drums. Basically zero lag without any modifications to drivers or sample sizes. If you want a Mac desktop. This thing is half the size of a laptop. Barely uses any energy and is whisper quiet.

The Mac mini has completely exceeded my expectations. It’s lightning fast, handles multiple pro-level apps effortlessly, and stays almost completely silent even under load. I use it for development, automation, and virtualization, it hasn’t stuttered once. The compact size is perfect for a clean, minimalist workspace, and macOS runs buttery smooth on this hardware. Whether you’re coding, editing, or just want a future-proof desktop, this thing delivers. Total powerhouse in a tiny shell.

As an owner of the 2018 Mac mini i5, I wanted to upgrade to Apple's new technology. The Mac mini M4 is very small. See the picture showing the size difference. Not all software has been compiled to run natively on the M4 RISC processor. But, the mini is super fast and interpreting doesn't slow it down. A reboot takes about 2 seconds. I'm glad I got it, I like the thing. If I were to do it again, I'd get the top of the line (i.e. most cores, most RAM.) If you don't already have something like this, the Insignia 7-Port USB-C Hub is recommended to purchase with this M4 Mac mini.

I found the Mac mini with M4 chip incredible: compact, fast and efficient. It offers impressive performance for heavy tasks, elegant design. A powerhouse!

Have been using Intel Macs, but have been disappointed with the fan noise that fires up any time some sort of non-idle tasks is occurring. Was amazed at the responsiveness of this lowest-end Mac Mini compared to the 2019 core i7 Mac Mini and 2019 core i9 MacBook Pro we have in our house. This 2024 Mac Mini completely beats the pants off of those other machines, and I have never heard it spin up a fan, even under some reasonably computationally heavy tasks like doing AI model audio transcriptions or installing other operating systems in a virtual machine. Only drawback is that there are a precious few other operating systems that can be installed on this Apple Silicon Mac. But the ones that do install, run exceptionally well, even as virtual machines. I am a pretty picky personal computer user, and I have to say that if this kind of performance is what you get on the low-end of the Apple line, then I am very pleased to see the progress they have made with personal computing technology over the past 5 years.

I am a long-time Windows user. I don't plan to switch over completely to Apple products, but after hearing good things about Apple Silicon, I wanted to try out this unit. It works well, a powerful computer in a small package. I have used it for making video files, and it does the job. The only complaint I have is that upgrading from the base model is so expensive. I think Apple would sell many more of these if they made upgrades cheaper, or made it easier for users to upgrade the memory and storage of these machines as the need arises. I bought a dock for this that gives me many more USB ports, as well as external SSD storage.

This Mac mini replaces an aged iMac and I am more than thrilled with the improved performance of this device. Not only is the processor much faster than the iMac, but its reduced size is a real benefit on my crowded desk. I use it for photo editing, and combined with an SS monitor I couldn’t be happier with the quality.

The new Mac Mini M4 is a fantastic addition to any workstation. Its compact and portable design makes it incredibly convenient, yet it packs enough power to handle demanding tasks like video editing in Adobe Suite or DaVinci Resolve with ease. The performance is impressive, offering smooth and efficient workflows for creative professionals. However, the storage capacity is a bit of a disappointment. In 2025, having 256GB as the base storage feels outdated—1TB should be the standard minimum. Overall, while the device excels in portability and performance, its limited storage holds it back from perfection.

Good performance for a good price, I must say this is a 10/10 purchase as it is compact, soundless, powerful. It is capable to turn your productivity performative. Runs games smoothly, I do school work on it, and overall multitasking is seamless.

Exceeded expectations This little box punches way above its weight. For the MSRP, it outperforms a lot of machines thanks to the ridiculously powerful M4 chip and unified memory. Logic Pro’s 76-track fully layered demo loads in about 3 seconds and plays flawlessly; No hiccups, no drama. Meanwhile, my gaming PC (i7-14700K / 32GB RAM / RTX 4080) starts complaining, stuttering, and throwing a tantrum at around 26 tracks, and it gets worse every 10 tracks after that. ASIO feels ancient and… honestly, kind of sad. MainStage loads instantly, and the low-latency guitar feel is unlike anything I’ve experienced on Windows. Even with Axe I/O drivers set to a very low 64 samples, Windows can’t touch this. Ever tried running YouTube and your DAW at the same time on Windows? Exclusive audio drivers block playback, or you’re stuck fighting brutal latency. Core Audio absolutely destroys Windows here. Bonus surprises To my surprise, it also handles retro emulation like a champ. PS2 and PS3 games run at 4K/60fps without breaking a sweat, and even many Switch titles run well. For modern games, I tested Resident Evil Biohazard and got performance comparable to a PS4; Not bad at all. This isn’t a gaming machine (my PC still handles that duty), but it’s a fantastic temporary workhorse. Long-term plan For now, it’s my DAW and daily computer. Later, it’ll retire gracefully into permanent NAS and retro-gaming duty. Not bad for a “stop-gap.” Value I snagged this during a massive sale for $399. Micro Center had the deal, and Best Buy matched it online; Even though it was out of stock, which they normally don’t do. Big props to them. This cute little box won’t replace a high-end gaming rig or a maxed-out workstation, but it truly is the little engine that could. It’ll get most people surprisingly far, and I’d 100% recommend it.

The Mac mini M4 (16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) is incredibly fast and completely silent. I was honestly surprised by the performance—everyday tasks, multitasking, and development work feel instant and effortless. What really stood out is AI performance. I ran LLMs locally for AI training and inference, and in my workloads it actually outperformed a system with an NVIDIA 4080 GPU. The performance-per-watt is unreal for a machine this small. The 256GB SSD is very fast but realistically only enough for basic use and core apps. For anything beyond that, cloud storage or an external SSD is a must.

This is the machine everyone was raving about for the Claud OpenClaw with Homebrew open source kit. It's probably the most basic config I ever bought a Mac for. I would strongly advise going the with 32gb RAM if you still can (shortages during this review). Regardless, if you got hit with the API up-charges using Claude Opus and switched to Ollama for local models rather than API calls then this unit still works great on 16-24gb config for basic agentic local tasks: emails, iMessage, calendars, bookings, browser, etc. This little powerhouse can run 27/7 allowing agents to run cleanup tasks over night too. I'm now running 7 agents on this unit and 2 are running complex data sets for GPS route optimization of commercial fleet courier drivers with 22 end users via SMS text message. Non-AI Agentic Review: If you bought this Mac for anything other than AI agentic setups; like personal computing or business applications then you will find that it's the most capable multi-task Mac machine you ever owned that runs at light speed at an incredible price.

The Apple 2024 Mac mini Desktop Computer with M4 Pro is an excellent little powerhouse. The price was really good for the performance you get, and it runs incredibly smooth and fast. Everything loads quickly, multitasking is effortless, and it stays quiet while working. I’m very happy with it — compact, powerful, and works perfectly for my needs.

This is the second Mac mini I have owned. I replaced the first one with a Mac Book about 10 years ago. Now retired I retired my Mac Book because I didn't need a laptop anymore and the Mac mini is a lot of computer for Avery good price. It is quick and has more memory and storage than I need. It is small and compact and it's not a Windows PC, which is what I always had at work and absoutley hated. Best Buy had it on sale for a good price. I am again a happy owner of a Mac mini!

Amazing product. Super fast, super small, and super cheap. There’s a ton of aftermarket attachments you can add to add more ports or ssd space. I’ve been super happy after switching from a laptop to the Mac Mini with a 27” Lg screen that was pretty cheap. Full setup cost around 1,000. Pretty much bare minimum for any decent setup.

I've been using the Mac Mini M4 for the past five months, and I can confidently say it's a game-changer. The speed and performance are unparalleled, and I've tested it against various performance metrics with outstanding results. It's incredibly fast, and I haven't found a single complaint. The M4 processor truly gives it an edge. Portability and connectivity are top-notch, making it a versatile choice for any setup. When it comes to gaming, it's seamless! I've played heavy-duty games like Asphalt and Call of Duty, and the performance has been flawless. In summary, the Mac Mini M4 has exceeded all my expectations!

I decided to replace my MacBook Air with this and a 13" iPad and I'm really glad that I did. I've been a Mac Mini fan for years, but grew tired of the old design. When I saw this new one, I immediately snapped one up. I love the small footprint, the plethora of USB-C and Thunderbolt ports and the power of the M4 and 16 gigs of RAM. At this price point, the Mac Mini is an absolute bargain. It's super quiet, blazing fast, and will last for years. I do not care that the power button is on bottom, I put mine to sleep and rarely turn it on anyway.

Its fast and small offering great performance for the price. The built in speakers are pretty good despite the size. You need to use an HDMI to thunderbolt (USB type C) for most monitors as a thunderbolt to thunderbolt created issues for me. The monitor would randomly flicker. This problem was solved by getting the correct cable. Not the computers fault. Only comes with power cable no display cable whatsoever. No USB ports only thunderbolt so be sure to buy adapter cable if your not intending to use an apple mouse and keyboard or USB type c mouse and keyboard. You can also play lower end/ older games decently well. This is a great computer. I would recommend it to someone who enjoys the mac OS over windows but doesnt want to pay macbook prices.
