I previsouly had a Mac Book Pro in the past and it lasted me 9 years. I wanted to upgrade and then I saw the specs on this computer and I jumped at the chance to upgrade. I am very pleased with the new Mac Book Pro.

There are a few pros and cons: Pros Nice looking and lighter than the old MacBook Pro The touchbar is a unique feature Good RAM and HD space Cons Didn't see any better performance vs. MacBook Air The USB C ports are still not peripheral friendly Had to buy a dock adapter to use USB 3.0 and HDMI connections for devices and monitors Pricey, the jury is still out if it was worth it

Wonderful fast and great quality as expected with an apple product. It’s pricey and there may be some accessories you will need to purchase if you want to plug in a USB or external disc drive cause all that is not on these new MacBooks. You’ll adjust easy though and most everything is wireless these days anyway. Beautiful sound and epic display. I love the touch pad at top of computer. Watching Netflix or doing your job is a pleasure with this light weight compact but powerful little machine. If you have the extra funds it’s worth it for perfection.

It's a great machine and I really like the sleek design. It is smaller than my old MacBook pro and faster! I wish it came with USB adapters but that's Apple for you! The touch strip is cool but a touch screen would be better. All in all its a good investment and if you can get it on sale at Best Buy, even better!

    Disappointing upgrade

I upgraded from a MacBook Pro 13 inch (2013) 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 with 8GB of ram to this MacBook Pro 13inch (2017) 3.5GHz with 8GB of ram and found myself extremely disappointed. Good: The computer is much lighter than the previous model, the screen is beautiful and is far superior to my previous computer. The transfer of my old system to the new was seamless and outside of having to put my passwords in for my email and some other apps it was easy to upgrade. The track bar on the top is a cool addition and there are many ways you can customize it to work with your apps or computer using needs. Bad: While I truly wanted to love this new computer the list of bad things are pretty challenging. The computer uses USB-C and none of my drives or devices use this. The converters to this new technology are not super expensive, but it makes the process of hooking things up very silly. The battery claims to last 15 hours, but I felt like it is much much less than this to the point I felt like my old computer held a charge longer than this one. The charger extension cable does not come with the computer and was another thing I had to buy with the computer itself. While this is the same computer as before the new one with same amount of RAM and a faster chip is extremely slow and you cannot upgrade the RAM for the computer. I am not using GFX programs, but Google Chrome and Mac mail which are lagging and requiring me to restart my computer. I am so upset by all of these factors that I am going to return the computer and get the model prior to this. I am not sure if I got a lemon or what, but the time wasted on buying a new computer only to have to return it is more painful than a simple return or exchange. If I were you I would stay away from this specific make a model.

    Actually Love the Small Screen

I've had 2 MBP's in t he past with the larger screen. I wanted something smaller and more portable, and this fits the bill. I usually use it hooked up to an an external monitor, so take that into account. Added benefit for those who wear bifocals: it works so well to fit in the "range" (you know what I mean if you wear them). I can power two monitors at the same time at work with no problems. But, beware, you will have to spend some extra $$ for adapters for the mini USB ports for you old usb "stuff".

I've been using MacBook Pros for a while, and this one is a good middle-priced one. I wasn't sure at first about the Touch Bar, but it actually is a neat productivity feature. Fingerprint sensor ( which unlocks the screen without password ) is also nice. My only gripe is that sometimes I touch the touchbar accidentally when I type. This machine is fast, responsive and will last you at least 5+ years without feeling outdated. Great buy.

Amazing laptop, I have a blast using it. It's fast, efficient, the toucher is super useful for everyday tasks that I need, and the battery life is actually pretty decent depending on what you are doing. Only problem I see is that it is not as fast as it claims to be. Now granted, I transferred everything from my old laptop to this new one via Migration Service and it has opened applications a lot faster, but not as lightning fast as I expected. Not trying to sound spoiled but I expected faster. On another note, this may be just me, but my laptop screens seems to be a little heavy as when I put the screen a decent amount down, it will automatically close on it's own. I have put a hard case on it, but it is very lightweight and should not be the reason it is shutting on it's own that much.

A nice upgrade with the touch bar

Won't go into a lengthy detail on features other than the touch bar is a welcome addition but still no touch screen from Apple. Yes, everything works well and the high res. display is very nice. The touch bar displays different options, depending on the programme but there are many options and you can customize it to an extent. IT is fast and the darker gray finish is nice. New is the unique connector that powers the unit and from any port, not just one power port. But, be careful it is a plug in not a magnetic connector so the cord could potentially break if pulled hard. NO more USB jacks so you will need an adapter for any external devices such as USB memory sticks, SD cards, optical drives, etc. That Apple did not provide at least one USB port is surprising. They do make hubs if you want one and Apple makes a cumbersome version but it stick out from the side of the computer and we must ask "why"? Yes, it's a good laptop and if you can get a good deal on one, it's one you'll keep for years, unlike the quickly non future proofed PCs. Pros: Good performance and display quality. touch bar options Cons: only one connector which requires adapters. Still no touch screen. Bottom line, yes, a great computer with many good features but Apple is falling behind in the future wars.

    Apple’s best laptop yet

This is my first Apple laptop. I’ve always owned PC’s, but I needed a new laptop and since I already had the iPhone and iPad I decided to try an Apple laptop to have a product that worked in conjunction with my other Apple products. I couldn’t be more happier. This laptop processes quickly. The apps and terminology is a little different than PC’s, but once you understand them there’s a smile on my face every time I turn it on. The built in features and organization of Apple laptops is incredible especially the MacBook Pro. I was reluctant spending the extra money, and I wish at least Microsoft Word and Excel came with it, but I’ve gotten used to using Apples version since I don’t have to share documents with people that have PC’s otherwise getting Microsoft 365 would be worth the extra money. I look forward to many years of use with my MacBook Pro 13”.

I am a long time windows user who just switched to a Mac because of work. I've had it for a couple of months now, and I'm surprised to say that I'm a convert! My productivity has definitely increased because the OS makes everything so accessible! Pros -- Multiple deskcropts -- Touchpad > mouse. I never thought I would say this, but the touchpad takes you 1 day to get used to, and you're never going to go back to a mouse. -- Terminal. As a developer, this makes my life 100% better -- Size. I have the 13" Macbook Pro and it is very light and discreet, yet the display is big enough to get work done comfortably (the multiple desktops definitely helps) Cons -- Price! Previously, the most expensive laptop I've owned was 700 including tax! This was definitely a splurge for me, but I have no regrets.

I have been spoiled by my 11.6" MacBook Air. It is small and light and does most of what I want it to do. As a photographer, the big problem has been the screen. It is not retina and is too small to do serious work on. The MacBook is too slow for heavy Photoshopping so the MacBook Pro makes the most sense. I would prefer to see 16 gigs ram standard and 256GB SSD minimum. I have the 8 gig 512GB Touchbar model. USB-C (3.1) is great! 4 ports and you can get USB 2.0 to 3.1 adapters cheap or buy 1 USB-C hub! This computer is bigger than the 13" MacBook Air and heavier too. Speed is good and the build is top notch. The touch-bar is far more useful than expected and it is nice to be able to unlock your computer with your fingerprint.

I purchased this laptop as my MacBook from 2009 has slowed down. This is a great laptop. It’s so much lighter than my previous laptop. The Touch ID is great. Laptop is user friendly and very similar to using an iPhone.

    Another Fine Apple Product

The 2017 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is exactly what you would expect from an Apple product: (nearly) perfect. Apple and its products aren't perfect, of course, but they come closer to it than any of the other big competitors in my experience (and opinion). A lot of people complain about the keyboard, and I agree that it's a bit awkward at first and takes some getting used to, but after a few days I didn't really notice it anymore. It does make some impressive slappy sounds as you're typing; reminiscent of the days of big clunky mechanical keyboards. Instead of that hearty "chunk chunk" sound, you get a higher pitched "tat tat" sound, but they're along the same lines. Doesn't make this laptop any less awesome. A small price to pay for something so slim and sleek. There are many hardware configurations for these, so it's hard to talk specifics, but generally speaking, this thing runs well (as most Apple products do). I have a mid-range model as far as hardware goes and 4k video editing in Final Cut Pro X is no problem. It keeps up; nuff said. The Touch Bar is useful, but not entirely necessary. A lot of people feel it's gimmicky, and I see where they're coming from, but under the right circumstances it's actually quite useful. I do occasionally forget it's there, but I bought the model with the Touch Bar more for the additional USB-C ports, Touch ID, and better hardware options than I did for the actual Touch Bar itself. MacOS is awesome, but will take some getting used to if you're coming from Windows; there's a somewhat steep learning curve, but a lot of things are similar. Oh, and don't forget to buy a USB-C dongle. Gotta play Apple's game if you want to use Apple's products. Hopefully in a few years everything will be USB-C and we won't care anymore.
