I've been an Windows user my entire adult life and I am so glad that I made the switch to Apple. I was always hesitant to leave my beloved PC's but now I understand what all the hype is about. Apple products are well made, secure and operate at a high level. I have not experienced any lag, security breaches or the typical problems that I experienced on Windows. I thought the Mac would be hard to use, but in reality it is very intuitive and designed for ease of use. The UI is truly a pleasure to work with. I would recommend any Apple products. I already own an iPod and will eventually switch from my Android phone to a iPhone in the near future. Thanks Apple for proving that sometimes you have to pay more to get more quality.

If you're in the market for a new laptop and you want something that will last a long time and has good usability, you should definitely consider a Macbook Pro. I used to hate on Macs because of the compatibility problems between Macs and Windows back in the day, but those problems are getting much fewer. Basically with the new Mac Office 2016 and other programs out there, the switch from Windows to Mac is pretty easy. The only downside of Macs is the cost. I recommend getting this Macbook Pro without the Retina Display and then getting a solid-state drive and more memory (for this one it's up to 8GB) separately to upgrade after you get it. I highly recommend you have someone who is familiar with Mac do the upgrades, but there are instructions online on how to do that too. With the help of a friend, I upgraded this Macbook Pro from 500GB harddisk and 4GB memory to 250GB solid-state and 8GB memory, and in the long-run it was cheaper than if I had bought a Macbook Pro with the higher specs to begin with. With it upgraded, my Mac runs super fast and should last a long time.

I got the MacBook cuz my last computer, which was a pc, crashed, and I've been avoiding macs. But I got this for $950, which was cheaper than if I had a student discount! I also love it! I write music, record, and edit music, and garageband, which comes with the computer, has made significant improvements and changes to make it more user friendly and be comparable to pro tools (pro tools is still better but garageband is legit!) Plus, this computer is one of the only macs that are expandable in memory and in storage, and I'm looking to upgrade it later on when I get some money for way cheaper than if you bought the same computer from the store. Overall, I give it a solid 5 stars! It's awesome, and I'm getting used to the quirky mac stuff that's different than pc. If you want a solid, cheap, powerful, new computer, get this one! It's worth it! Amen!

What more need be said- it's a Mac! I finally tired (again) of dealing with a PC with dementia and bought this Mac Pro. everything works smoothly, the design is elegant, and the ideas built into how to make it work better, are simply delightful. I chose to keep the HDD for it's 500 GB capacity over the more expensive , newer flash drive options, which were only 128-256 GB, and, for my money, there is nothing available that can top this laptop model. I appreciate having a disc drive (only available on this 13" Macbook Pro), as carrying an extra piece of equipment to listen to my CD's and watch my DVD collection seemed pointless. The 13" screen is plenty big (I thought I would miss my prior 15", but haven't. Only fault is the glossy screen- my last Mac had the matte screen and was practically glare free. The glossy screen is probably brighter and has higher resolution, but is difficult to see with daylight or overhead lights around because of the glare. Nonetheless, I love this instrument, it works great!

This laptop is really easy to use, and being a high school senior about to head off to college, it has a great battery life and is compact enough to carry around in a backpack without having to get a separate laptop bag for it. I bought a hard shell case for it from TopCase and I'm all set!

If you're looking for a device that's going to last then you can't go wrong with Apple. The MacBook Pro is easy to setup. I went with the 13" display because I don't need a larger display size for artwork or magazine layout (recommend iMac). I have enough hard drive space to use for spreadsheets and documents, as well as any coding that I do. Yet, if you're looking to surf the web, check emails, listen to music, play games, word docs, possibly watch Netflix, then you can still do this with ease. I found this was very easy to setup, battery life is good, and the device works fast. This is great for beginners, students, business professionals, and anyone any age.

This MacBook Pro is 10x heavier (not literally) than the MB Air (which I originally had), but I settled with this model of the MB Pro only because I can make performance upgrades to it and it has the super drive built in. The 500gb 5400 rpm HD definitely allows for more storage, but u sacrifice speed for it (u can switch it out for an SSD if u need to make it faster and it definitely makes a difference especially on start up). The 2x2gB of SDRAM that this MB Pro comes with can also be upgraded as well (unlike newer models where the RAM is soldered in place). I believe this one is the Mid 2012 MB Pro. So if you want a MacBook that u can still customize and don't mind the extra weight, get this one. If the extra 1 lb is that much of an issue, then get the MB Air. Just know that the Air has a slower processor than this and u can only upgrade the HD and not the RAM on the Air (the RAM is soldered on the MB Air).

Can't beat this as a great way to get introduced to the Mac environment. What makes these so great is that the OS is tightly tied to the hardware. Shut the lid and it goes to sleep. Open it up and within a second it's ready. None of that 'hibernation' or flawed 'sleeping' that windows does. The trackpad is BY FAR the absolute best on ANY platform anywhere. It scrolls right where you need it to, always. Not like windows where you have to be inside a particular screen. This will easily scroll on apps that are in the background. The battery life is fantastic on these. I bought this one for a friend, but I have one that is the same model but two years old. I've upgraded the RAM and put in an SSD. The performance is fantastic. I use it for work and home. Two separate profiles to keep things orderly. I wish the screen resolution were a bit tighter though. That's really my only wish for these. When people ask me "what kind of computer should i buy..." I always reply with "Get a Mac". Done. Everything included works. None of that 'trail' bloatware that litters every windows computer out there. No registering for a half dozen different programs. No virus protection to worry about. Open the box, turn it on, set a user and password, attach to your network and you're done. That's it. It just works. You don't need to spend hours setting it up and doing endless reboots with updates. It will probably have one that will be needed. Discretely tells of it. Do it when you wish. Can't go wrong with these. Highly recommend.

    Great PC!

I was skeptical about buying an Apple laptop, at first. However the salesman was great at explaining this pc as well as the Windows pc's. I decided on the Apple and I haven't looked back. It took a little getting used to at first since I've been a Windows pc user for years but with a little help from my daughter I was on my way. This pc is faster to boot up, load pages and download files. Plus it's so easy to keep my music organized on my Ipod now. And best of all no pesky Windows viruses and and constant updates! My only con is the OS is not compatible with all sites. Needed to load new update for my bluetooth receiver but site stated I needed a Windows OS to complete. I haven't encountered this issue often, though, maybe twice. I'm still learning new tricks and having fun...

Went to Best Buy looking to buy a PC to replace my Toshiba. The first guy was really nice and kept bringing me different Lenovo's all looking the same but range in price depending on operating system. Eventually I walked away feeling the PC was going too expensive. After walking through the Mac section, I started asking questions and testing it out. It was so easy to use. It was like my IPad on Steroids. Soon I was at the register buying the MacBook and the first guy that was helping me looked and said " you said the Lenova was out of your price range and look at what you are buying". I smiled and said, "the Mac just blew me away". It is still blowing me away! I love it!

My only complaint is that all the USB outlet is on the left and my [wired] mouse is on my right hand... kinda hard with the wired being wrapped around the laptop Fast laptop, pretty light for carrying, doesn't get as hot as other laptops I've own.

    Best Macbook Pro ever made

Okay I know this model came out 4 years ago, but it really is the last practical, thoughtful, smart and complete macbook pro ever produced by Apple. The newer retina and touch bar models are cool and hip and all that, but they don't have the practicality and staying power this model has. After considering what I was going to use this for, I decided to go with this model and immediately proceeded to upgrade to 16gb of ram and a 750gb SSD, which was relatively simple and inexpensive to do. While the processor is certainly not cutting edge by today's standards, the difference in performance is minimal for me while the cost benefit are too great to ignore. I'm not a media professional but it serves my purposes for using Final Cut and Photoshop while being more than capable of doing basic tasks. The connectivity options are really what sold me and the DVD drive, while not a necessity is nice to have. If needed, I can swap the dvd drive with another SSD later on. When you're spending money on a good laptop, it's nice to have options for upgrading on your own rather than being limited from the get go. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend anyone to snap one up before they're gone forever.

This MBP will be replacing the one that I've been using for the last few years. I decided to go with another one because they're super reliable, easy to use, and I feel, best value for your money all-around, especially if you use programs only available for Mac. One thing that made me jump on this computer is that is still has the 500GB HD, as I'm weary of the flash storage and everything else that is coming along with new ones these days. There are a couple problems I had with this computer right off the bat, however. About two days in, the HD basically "unmounted" itself, so I had to reinstall the entire OS and didn't have time to set up a time machine or anything yet. These new computers DO NOT come with physical copies of the OS any longer, which are great to use for emergency repair or reinstallation. Now is where it get's weird, for me, at least. These computers basically absolutely refuse to connect to anything using a WEP key and are sometimes picky with routers as it is (especially Actiontec, in my experience) so you generally have to use WPA2. The OS had to be downloaded from the internet, and if your router isn't set up with WPA2 or your computer just downright doesn't like your router, you'll find yourself running around town looking for places to go sit around for a few hours to get your computer working. For some reason, it wouldn't even recognize a hardwire directly on the router or anything. Other than that odd problem, and I highly doubt that that would happen to too many people, the only thing I feel this computer is lacking is a little more RAM. I'd say go ahead and invest in that upgrade. It's well worth it. As far as the display goes, this one doesn't have Retina, but if you've never had Retina before, it's not like you're going to miss it. ;) Overall, I'd say for this price, and then maybe even including that RAM upgrade and a WD portable HD for using as a time machine, this is one of the best investments you can make if you're looking for a new computer that will serve for years yet.

I did a lot of research and read reviews for all the MacBooks available. I decided on this Mid-2012 model because of features (disc drive), memory (and upgrade potential) and especially the PRICE!! I know the processor is a bit behind, but honestly has not been any lag time in loading or viewing websites or videos. Battery life is much better than expected also.

My husband said that I needed an Apple computer and suggested the MacBook. I searched Bestbuy.com and did a comparison with like computers and found my MacBookPro. It was so easy to learn how to use and none of the problems and glitches I've been living with for the past 5 or so years with my Toshiba Laptops. I love, love, love my MacBookPro and tell everyone about it. Only one problem is finding a suitable greeting card program for it but I haven't given up.

I have been saving for this computer for a long time. The ease of using any of the apps makes this laptop the best. The color and clarity is spot on! Yet it's not too bulky and will be easy to tote around on campus this fall when I go to college. I wanted a laptop with a DVD burner/ player because I wanted the ability to watch movies or burn music on CD's as well. I'm super happy wth my purchase!
