Expensive, but Quality Accessory to the Air Series

I had wanted one of these for a long time but always held off because of the price. The thing that bugged me, of all the silly things to be annoyed by, was the fact that there wasn’t a distinct design for the iPad Air – we were meant to buy the one for the iPad Pro, which left a large square hole for the camera plateau which doesn’t exist. I was happy to see that a newer version had been released for the M3 which, from everything I can see, is the same as the M2 like mine. It fits great, attaches strongly, and generally has a very good typing feel. Much better than the Keyboard Folio I had considered. However, there is still one quirk which I only recently noticed… Apple’s odd choice of key sizes (see photo). And of course, there will be complaints about the lack of a backlight for said keyboard, but I think that’s an acceptable omission for a keyboard powered by the iPad itself. I am noticing a slightly higher battery draw using the keyboard, but I think it’s worth the effort if you’re looking for a touchscreen on a netbook-like experience. In fact, the spacing feels very much like my old HP Mini 210. There are a few glitches here and there, probably related more with web apps than dedicated iOS apps (you may notice the inability to backspace from time to time, or an annoying auto-capitalization glitch that I’ve noticed on iOS 26 early on, especially while typing in Safari or Chrome) but overall, for an ultra-compact laptop experience it’s much handier to whip this out than even my 13” Macbook Air. Trackpad, aside from the size, is just as responsive as any Apple trackpad you’ll find. Just beware, the price puts it out of reach for most casual users, especially if you’re in the iPad Air price-point budget. This was more of a necessity for me than a desire, though, so I’m convincing myself that it was worth what I paid. And that isn’t really hard to do once you get going with it.

Got this open-box and it honestly feels brand new. I use it daily for work, and both the iPad and keyboard perform perfectly with no issues. Smooth, reliable, and the battery holds up well. Great value for the price—definitely recommend.

The Apple Magic Keyboard I purchased from Best Buy has far exceeded my expectations. From the secure magnetic fit and clasp to the tilting mechanism of the keyboard. My favorite part though is the response when typing and using mouse pad. Very responsive and accurate.

So glad I got the Apple and not a different brand. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a lighted keyboard, but it’s not a dealbreaker. If you’re someone like me who uses it at night with the lights low, you can tilt the screen a little to get light if you need to.

Happy with this keyboard. It connected to the iPad Air right away and has worked flawlessly since. The typing feels great, and I have not had any issues with connectivity or performance. It does add a little weight to the iPad, but it’s worth it for the ease of use and convenience. Definitely worth it if you use your iPad often.

I honestly didn’t expect a keyboard to change how much I use my iPad, but this one did. The Magic Keyboard makes the iPad Air feel like a small laptop — I now reach for it instead of my computer for emails, notes, and even longer work sessions. Typing feels really natural. The keys have a nice amount of travel and don’t feel cramped, and the backlight is great at night. The trackpad was the biggest surprise it’s smooth, accurate, and gestures work exactly how you expect, so navigating apps feels effortless. The magnetic attachment is strong and lines up perfectly every time, and I love the floating design because I can adjust the screen angle easily depending on where I’m sitting. The extra USB-C charging port is also super convenient since it keeps the iPad’s main port free. Yes, it’s expensive but after using it daily, I understand why. It genuinely turns the iPad into a productivity device rather than just a tablet. If you plan to type a lot or want a laptop-like experience without carrying a laptop, this is absolutely worth it.

    Great replacement for laptop

Purchased both the M3 11” iPad and Magic Keyboard to use mostly as a replacement for a laptop. It helps that I have smaller hands so the keyboard size isn’t an issue at all. But for day to day laptop replacement, it’s great - instant on capability, mouse and pointer use is great in iOS 26, and the App Store is there for just about anything you need. If you need specialized software this won’t work to replace a laptop, some of the OS limitations make some things more cumbersome on this device compared to a desktop OS, and the keyboards lack of backlight is disappointing. But overall I love this setup over a Windows laptop for day to day computing needs.

I had purchased multiple cheaper options on Amazon but most were too bulky or just janky. So I opted to spend the extra cash on one of these and it's well worth the money for what you get. The additional usb-c is a huge plus when I use it with my dock to plug into extra monitors

I wasn't sure I needed the Magic Keyboard when I got my M4 iPad Air 256. It was quite a bit more than the basic cover (which I felt I did need), and also more expensive than comparable keyboard cases... but wow, this keyboard is great for typing. I can't imagine composing and email or working on a Word/Excel doc using just my thumbs to type. The trackpad is amazing, and the quick keys are especially helpful. While it's more than some would like to spend, I definitely feel it was worth it!
