Expensive, but Quality Accessory to the Air Series

I had wanted one of these for a long time but always held off because of the price. The thing that bugged me, of all the silly things to be annoyed by, was the fact that there wasn’t a distinct design for the iPad Air – we were meant to buy the one for the iPad Pro, which left a large square hole for the camera plateau which doesn’t exist. I was happy to see that a newer version had been released for the M3 which, from everything I can see, is the same as the M2 like mine. It fits great, attaches strongly, and generally has a very good typing feel. Much better than the Keyboard Folio I had considered. However, there is still one quirk which I only recently noticed… Apple’s odd choice of key sizes (see photo). And of course, there will be complaints about the lack of a backlight for said keyboard, but I think that’s an acceptable omission for a keyboard powered by the iPad itself. I am noticing a slightly higher battery draw using the keyboard, but I think it’s worth the effort if you’re looking for a touchscreen on a netbook-like experience. In fact, the spacing feels very much like my old HP Mini 210. There are a few glitches here and there, probably related more with web apps than dedicated iOS apps (you may notice the inability to backspace from time to time, or an annoying auto-capitalization glitch that I’ve noticed on iOS 26 early on, especially while typing in Safari or Chrome) but overall, for an ultra-compact laptop experience it’s much handier to whip this out than even my 13” Macbook Air. Trackpad, aside from the size, is just as responsive as any Apple trackpad you’ll find. Just beware, the price puts it out of reach for most casual users, especially if you’re in the iPad Air price-point budget. This was more of a necessity for me than a desire, though, so I’m convincing myself that it was worth what I paid. And that isn’t really hard to do once you get going with it.

The Apple Magic Keyboard I purchased from Best Buy has far exceeded my expectations. From the secure magnetic fit and clasp to the tilting mechanism of the keyboard. My favorite part though is the response when typing and using mouse pad. Very responsive and accurate.

    Glad I Got Apple version

So glad I got the Apple and not a different brand. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have a lighted keyboard, but it’s not a dealbreaker. If you’re someone like me who uses it at night with the lights low, you can tilt the screen a little to get light if you need to.

I honestly didn’t expect a keyboard to change how much I use my iPad, but this one did. The Magic Keyboard makes the iPad Air feel like a small laptop — I now reach for it instead of my computer for emails, notes, and even longer work sessions. Typing feels really natural. The keys have a nice amount of travel and don’t feel cramped, and the backlight is great at night. The trackpad was the biggest surprise it’s smooth, accurate, and gestures work exactly how you expect, so navigating apps feels effortless. The magnetic attachment is strong and lines up perfectly every time, and I love the floating design because I can adjust the screen angle easily depending on where I’m sitting. The extra USB-C charging port is also super convenient since it keeps the iPad’s main port free. Yes, it’s expensive but after using it daily, I understand why. It genuinely turns the iPad into a productivity device rather than just a tablet. If you plan to type a lot or want a laptop-like experience without carrying a laptop, this is absolutely worth it.

Works very well. Bought it for my wife and the only thing she doesn’t like is the fact that the keyboard is not backlit. Aside from that she is happy with it.

Definitely a gamechanger for using my ipad. I had an amazon cheap keyboard that just wasn't as useful due to disconnects and different keyboard layout. I have really enjoyed this keyboard

Thi is a very nice keyboard for the iPad. Keys have a familiar touch compared to an Apple laptop or iMac. That makes it very easy to type when away from home. I am very happy I purchased this keyboard.

Heavy and finger print recognition does not work. I realise the compactness is important but whoever thought of replacing the finger print recognition to a tine oval vertical button badly place on the left side which works 10% of the time did not test it. I would return for an alternative
