Since I wont be swimming with a watch on and don't really need a standalone GPS, I opted to save myself a bit of $ and purchase the series 1. It was a perfect choice for me. It is a great little device that makes some every day mobile tasks much easier. It has completely replaced my faulty Fitbit as my fitness tracking device. Overall, it was a worthwhile purchase and I am getting a lot of value from it.

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to this being a new product or the same watch that has been out. For those who are uncertain, Apple released two new watches (hardware wise) this September, Series 1 and Series 2. The main difference between Apple's first generation and the Series 1 is the processor. The Series 1 and Series 2 feature a new dual core processor that makes it much faster than the original version. The difference between Series 1 & 2 is that the 2 is slightly thicker, has built in GPS, a brighter screen, and water resistance up to 50 meters. The starting price is a one hundred dollar difference. Also if you're looking at stainless models you can only get them in the Series 2 variant. So far I really like the Series 1; its much faster than the original. I deducted one star because I experienced a similar problem that I had with my original Space Gray Aluminum Sport version. There was a very small spot where the anodized finish flaked off. Its so small I was able to cover it up with a light touch of marker. I purchased Apple Care so if it continues, I know I am covered.

I use my watch daily. I never leave without it. The battery life is good. The functionality of it is an awesome addition to the iPhone. The only thing I’m not too found about it is it can’t play videos.

Now I can keep up with everything at a glance. I can answer a text in seconds by voice. I never miss a call. Who ever dreamed your could do all this with a watch. Even has improved my health by keeping track of my exercise and movement. I loved it so much I bought one for my husband

You don't need an Apple Watch, do you want one? Of course. And for every reason you would want it for it has it, the look the feel, the features. It keeps you off your phone more constantly and helps throughout your day. It's a $300 plus watch, do you need it, no. Do you want it, yes.

Great product. I purchased the 42mm screen because I felt it was the right size and comparing the series one to the series two, I didn't need GPS and water proofing/resistance plus there's a significant difference in cost. Overall, I'm satisfied with the decision and the product.

The Apple Watch. The revolutionary device that heralds a new era in technology. Apple's latest product line.
Eh.
Don't get me wrong, Apple have created a really beautiful and elegant device. But I don't want to have to gingerly walk around work afraid of scratching it. It never scratched, but it felt so fragile.
The functionality of the gentle 'taptic' motor's vibration notifications was awfully pleasant, but the usefulness of notifications on the wrist was questionable.
Browsing Instagram and Twitter on my wrist was cool at first, then I realized I could only go about 15 images or posts before having to refresh, by which time I had given up and pulled out my iPhone 7 plus, thus nullifying the Watch's usefulness.
One thing I will say is the music controls, the ability to change song and volume on the iPhone remotely, was an absolute joy for me at work and when the phone is connected to a stereo.
The health and fitness tracking were informative at best, the tools such as daily activity goals were motivation enough to move a little more at school, but not much better that the pedometer built into the iPhone as far as useful data goes. Heartrate was really quite accurate but personally, I don't find much use in it.
Apple pay is... awkward. I recall mistakenly testing it at a target, which apparently did *not* have Apple pay, thus making my strange gesture of stroking the pay terminal with the back of my hand very unsettling to the cashier.
Bottom line: if you have a job where you have a lot of meetings or appointments, or want the best Apple has to offer in fitness and don't mind an occasionally clunky UI quirks, the Apple Watch is a good option.
For the rest of us: its neat. But not much else. If you have Apple pay on your iPhone or you don't need heart rate monitoring and still want a smartwatch, look elsewhere.

Ok little bit of background. Before switching to Apple, I was a hardcore Android guy. My last Apple phone was the 3GS, and after that it was everything Android. My first smartwatch was the MOTO360 (first gen). From there I went to the LG Urban 2ND Edition LTE. From there I went to the Samsung gear S2. Immediately after I got my 7+, I went right to the Smartwatch section and got this. I was looking at the 2nd series, but decided that the GPS and waterproofing was NOT worth the extra cost. Best Buy matched the price from another retailer, and away I went.
I love the fit for starters. I also love the easily available watch bands and other accessories (screen protector, bumpers and so on). While I loved Android Wear, it doesnt really hold a candle in most aspects to the iWatch. It does almost all the same stuff Android Wear does, but it seems to do it better. A few cons about this watch, is the complete lack of any imagination in regards to watch faces. In this aspect, AW has it beat hands down. The selection is very anemic at best and you have literally NO other option, then what Apple shoves down your throat, which seems the be a common theme with Apple products .Another thing AW does a WHOLE lot better, is the use of Google Now for voice commands. Siri on this is functional, but severely neutered compared to Googles offering. Another con is, while it does have a speaker built in, you are not allowed to play music thru it. Other sounds come thru fine, but not music (scratches head)
The digital crown is a neat on this speedy little device. The screen is vibrant, and as a whole it just screams classy. Also, having the ability to make and receive calls, without pulling out your phone, was something I missed as this wasn't available on my 360 or my Gear S2.

This watch is fantastic. I would appreciate watch faces to be more customizable; however, everything is 100% functional. What I am most impressed with is the battery life. I used to be a Samsung person, but I got tired of having battery issues. After over half a year with this watch, the battery life hasn't changed. I can wear it all day and still have 60% to 70% left at the end of the day.

I like the idea of not having the phone with me every minute. It actually makes my life little bit easier....to glance at my watch if someone is texting me or trying to reach me! I don't always hear the phone ring or the text! I also like the fact the watch is water proof so that is a big plus in my book....especially your line of work requires constant hand washing all day long!

I purchase the Apple Watch Series 1 in December 2016 after much research and reading reviews. At first I felt I could not justify the expense, but since the purchase I feel that it is well worth the price. After a month of using the watch, I find myself moving, standing and exercising more often to maintain my activity levels on the included health app. The screen is so bright and clear that it makes reading texts and emails easy. Using Siri to set timers and reminders is easy and convenient. I like the apps I have found available and using them eliminates the need to lift my phone from its holder. I decided on the Series 1 watch because I did not require the independent GPS or waterproof capabilities of the Series 2. I have since purchased one for my wife and she loves her watch too. All in all I am very happy with the Apple watch and would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase.

After much consideration and deliberation, my wife and I decided to buy each other an Apple Watch. I am an avid watch collector, and have many high-end designer watches. I must say, that I I am very impressed with the quality and functionality that this watch brings to me and my lifestyle. I am a very active outdoorsman, and have found this watch to be useful many times. For instance, when I am bow hunting, my phone must remain completely silent in order to not scare off the wildlife. I love that my watch will tap my wrist whenever I receive a text message. I can quickly see the message and determine if I need to respond. I also love that I have the weather, both current and forecast, on my wrist at all times. My only drawback to this watch, is that it is not completely waterproof. If I had it to do over again, I would have spent the extra money to get a series 2 (for that reason).

Wearing it everyday

I thought I'd wear it everyday, and it's turned out to be the case. My initial misgivings about it being a daily wear device was that I'd read the battery life wasn't great, and it was a heck of a lot more expensive than, say, a Pebble Time or other more limited smartwatches. That said, when Pebble was bought up, I thought I'd need a comparable device or better, and this has fit the bill, other than the battery life (Pebble would go 4-5 days between charges, this one needs every day or or two). It also doesn't feel that large, and with multiple bands or bumpers, it's easily customizable. The other issue I thought I might have (having worn the 38mm for a few weeks before pawning it off on my son), was being able to see all the notifications or widgets (I use reading glasses). Well, display is large and clear enough without reading glasses, so I'm happy in that regard too.

Know there is a difference in Series 0, Series 1, and Series 2. Series 0 is no longer in production, so now worries there. Series 1 is awesome. If you have an iPhone then having the speaker phone, Siri, messages, etc on your wrist are worth the price alone. I don't need the water proof. Series 1 has proven to be splash proof anyways. Both Series 1 and 2 have dual core processors and Watch OS 3. Series 2 display is brighter than Series 1, but Series 1 is plenty bright. Not sure I would even want/need it any brighter.
