Great camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a bit spendy, but a great investment. Setup is easy, video quality is great. I love the notifications with the app. My only complaint is the battery life in the cold. I understand all batteries lose power in cold temperatures, but it’s billed as an all weather camera. In Iowa the winters are pretty cold and on a full charge the cameras last around 5 days. At times the camera would need to ‘warm up’ before producing video. An option is to plug it in, unfortunately, that’s not practical for my home. Overall, great camera. Highly recommend. ONLY complaint is the battery.

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These have great daytime quality, the nigh time is horrible unless you have the area lit up with lights. Its very easy to install and set up. The sensitivity is way way way too sensitive. The one in my backyard goes off constantly because the wind blows my pool tarp just a little and it triggers the camera. I've tried messing with sensitivity and nothing seems to help. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the night time viewing, the sensitivity and the 5 to 8 second delay it has from the time someone actually enters the camera range until the time I get a notification.

Almost perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was EZ was up and running in less than 15 min Images good day and acceptable at night I liked that there were no wires however I didn’t like to have to recharge battery I planned on getting the power cord but they didn’t sell one had to locate with 3rd party for continuous recording $99 year but camera was supposed to be inside I wanted an exterior cam and I couldn’t see how to mount securely as well didn’t want someone to steal it! Because of this I exchanged for Nest so now I only get one camera but yearly 5 days continuous recording $60 which suited my needs better

1080p
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much better with 1080p. Very easy setup and love that it doesn't need to be wired up. Picture quality in the day and where there is light is very good. Night vision is not good and is very grainy and hazy. If they can fix that problem then it would have been 5 stars.

Great Cameras and App but System Could be Improved
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cameras are easily mounted, the app is great, the system setup is very easy, the video surveillance is clear and great quality, but unless you hard wire the cameras you cannot set up activity zones. If the camera is in an area with a lot of activity, the camera will record often and drain your battery extremely quickly. Our battery was at 1% in a week so we will be hard wiring it and setting limits on the activity zones. Our second camera is in an area of less activity with the same full camera view and was still at 94% after the first week.

************** What Can I Say **************
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review..........we got this for my elderly widowed Mother In Law and the setup was relatively quick and easy . We purchased 2 4 packs , 5 for the outside perimeter , and the other 4 for the interior . Now ,You don't need to buy a subscription to use these , However , if you do not buy a monthly subscription ( I believe its like $10 a month) than you can only sync 5 cameras MAX to a single base unit ,and a single arlo account . Like I stated we bought 2 4 packs , 5 were synced outside to 1 base , and then 4 interiors were synced to the other base .Now to be HONEST , It is quit a pain for anyone to have to log out of 1 arlo account , and then have to log into another arlo account just to switch from our interior views to our exterior views ,now thats a pain for me , so just imagine how difficult it may be for an elderly person dealing with that . I mean by the time that they log out and log into the other account to see what they heard..........ITS TOO LATE . Now I will say arlo has an automatic 7 day saved recording period , and you can always go back and see what that noise was , but for LIVE TIME the switching of accounts is pretty lame . Other than that I like the cameras but they do seem to send erratic notifications like if the wind blew to hard ( which is much) or if a bird flew by . I must of received a notification every , at least every 15 minutes . It continued to do so even after I had adjusted the sensitivity on them . It was really irritating . So much that I had to eventually shut off notifications for those cameras...........which , actually defeats the whole purpose right ? Look , The setup was relatively easy compared to other brand name cameras that I have had , the magnetic mounts are pretty nice , the cameras look and work pretty good , but it does have some setbacks .And my own personal opinion , Arlo should maybe lift the 5 camera max ( without a monthly subscription) to SENIOR CITIZENS or DISABLED CITIZENS . So that they don't have to switch from account to account .Just my opinion . Anyways , would I recommend ? Yeah I guess I would . But do yourself a favor and price check first

Great camera system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love the entire camera system! I love that it’s wireless! Very very very easy set up! The range of the cameras to the base station isn’t the greatest if you have a large house, you have to keep them somewhat near the base station.

Don't need 1080p, go with the original Arlo Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review may be a bit long, but will be worth the reading prior purchasing either Arlo Pro systems. In summary based on the retail price of both the Arlo Pro ($649.99) and Arlo Pro 2 ($799.99) for the four camera system at Best Buy, you are basically paying $37.50 more for each camera for just the 1080p resolution and that’s pretty much it. Video resolution: Yes, the video for the Arlo Pro 2 is crispier than the Arlo Pro, however, if you zoom in, the resolution is still grainy. As for night vision, I still think the Arlo Pro is better. Battery life: If you set the battery to “Optimal” in the video setting and the motion settings to 50% in the mode settings and don’t really have any motion or noise activity, then your battery will take a while to drain and can last more than a month. However, if you place your camera in a location where you have semi-frequent or frequent, the battery will drain quickly and you will require either a solar panel or will need to take it down frequently to recharge. If you want to get a solar panel, then I would recommend the Netgear solar panel verses the compatible one that Amazon offers and USE the “Simply Solar” app to place the solar panel and position the angle of it. On the camera with semi-frequent motion, I started off at 100% battery life, then overnight, it went down to 96% and at noon, it was recharged to 100% again. However, if you have overcast skies, the charging may be hindered. 3 second delay: Depending on the angle placement of the cameras, the actual trigger of the motion sensor can vary. For my camera with semi-frequent activity, motion going from right to left activates the video recording quicker than motion from left to right. So when you read reviews that you can totally miss a person from taking your stuff at the front door, that is definitely a possibility for both Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2. You may hear that the Arlo Pro 2 can display the activity during the 3 seconds that you would normally not see in the Arlo Pro, however, you would need to have continuous AC power plugged on to the camera and that defeats the whole purpose of the Arlo Pro systems being wireless. As for zone coverage recording for the Arlo Pro 2, it is useless unless you have AC charging. Arlo app on your smartphone: Tendencies to see it go offline, but I think it is still recording, but don’t know for sure. You do get push notification, however, when you look on your smartphone for the video, that video can show up 10-20 seconds after getting the notification even when you are in your house and when you add that to the 3 second delay, it can be too late if you want to fend off any intruders when you are not at home. Magnet mounts: These are good for indoor, however if you plan on mounting the cameras outdoors, then you better purchase screwed on mounts so that no one can easily take it or have a bird land on it and knock it off. If you are looking for a wireless and WiFi outdoor camera, then consider the Alro Pro unless you really want the 1080p resolution, then get the Arlo Pro 2...again (my opinion), you are just paying for the higher resolution and nothing else. In conclusion, both Arlo Pro systems are nice because it is battery operated and on WiFi. However, if you plan to place the camera in an area with frequent motions, you better purchase a solar panel to keep the camera(s) juiced up. Otherwise you will be taking the camera on and off to recharge it in a matter of a couple of weeks. Features like seeing the 3 second recording, continuous video recording (CVR), and zone coverage in the Arlo Pro 2 are good, but require continuous AC power connection to the cameras. Again, that defeats the whole purpose of why you would purchase the Arlo Pro system to begin with...to be wired free. I decided to keep my Arlo Pro 2 only because I can afford it, already spent some money on accessories like the Netgear solar panel, additional mounts, skin coverings, and it has the 1080p resolution and was able to get it on sale at Best Buy, but definitely would not buy the Arlo Pro 2 at retail price of $799.99 (so look for sales). I also would have returned the system if the Netgear solar panel did not work as I do not want to constantly take down the semi-active camera to recharge every two weeks. Again, with the Arlo Pro 2, you are basically paying more for just the 1080p. Honestly, if you are just looking for a security system for inside the house for a peace of mind or a baby monitor and do not need to have the camera wireless/battery powered, then take a look at wyzecam.com, especially if you have a very tight budget and cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars...you’ll be surprised if you just want something simple indoors with 1080p and with no frills. As for whether or not I recommend this product to a friend, it is up to your wants and needs, but Best Buy requires you to select either a Yes or No. So if you don’t need 1080p, then no, you should just go with the regular Arlo Pro, but if you want the 1080p then yes, but the additional features require continuous power.

excellent camera system.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is the second wireless Arlo camera system I've purchased. I have one with standard cameras and one with arlo pro-2 1080p cameras I highly recommend the arlo wireless camera systems. the system is easy to to setup, and easy to use. the cameras record good quality video day or night, (night video is black & white). it comes with a free app that is straight forward and includes a week's worth downloadable video storage. after 7 days it will start to delete the older videos to make room for the new ones. the app lets you use your phone to turn each camera on and off, view recorded footage, watch a live feed, check the battery status and even sound an alarm that is built into the base station. the cameras have rechargeable batteries and the charger and cord is included. my busiest camera which picks up deer, cats, deliverymen, and even large moths attracted to a nearby light usually lasts about 3 months before I get a phone alert telling me the battery is low. my cameras are somewhat protected from above, but are exposed to the elements from the side and below, yet I've not had any weather related problems. there are two things that stopped me from giving a five star review: 1 - the second system I bought came with the more expensive, higher definition cameras, but I didn't think the quality of the video was that much better than the (already good) cheaper cameras. 2- the camera mounts attach with screws and the camera connects to the mount with a built in magnet. this means the camera can be removed pretty easily, so I made sure to mount mine high up out of reach. I also bought an optional mount that is a little more secure but hey, if someone swipes your camera at least you'll have a nice picture of them!

Easy to set up. Good features.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a storage building broken into and after reviewing all the options currently out there, I decided to try the Arlo Pro 2. Setup was really easy and I liked the fact that I was able to re-position the cameras to get them where I wanted them without running wire. The software on the iPhone is very good and well thought out. It is incredibly easy to download a video and share on social media, share with police, etc. Both of which I have done. A couple of negatives from my perspective are 1) Without having the camera plugged in and just using the battery, there is a bit of lag time before the camera senses movement and starts recording. My "friend" came back for another run at my storage building, but I only caught his backside, because as soon as the motion light popped on (not a part of the camera system) the guy quickly did an about face and headed back down my driveway. 2) I wish there was a way to adjust the sensitivity. It hasn't been horribly bad, but there are times when the wind is blowing the bushes, I'd like to be able to turn a certain camera's sensitivity down, instead of having to turn it off, because it is getting triggered constantly. A nice to have feature would be to link one or more cameras, where if one camera is tripped, it actives recording on another camera or two. I currently have power run to one camera and it is seems much more sensitive than the ones that are running on battery alone. I would also like to have even more resolution... especially at night. I continued to research cameras even after I had the Arlo Pro 2s set up with the idea that I could return them to Bestbuy within 15 days if I found something I liked better. There are trade-offs with every system. In the end, no monthly fee for the base package, good software, and the decent cameras of the Arlo Pro 2, kept me as a customer. Things I've caught on camera. Theif, loads of house cats, squirrels, rabbits, other rodents every once in a while, a possum, a fox and a bobcat.

Terrific security camera for reasonable price
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Arlo wireless camera set was just what we were looking for. It was easy to set up. The bases unit communicates with all cameras installed on exterior of house. The cameras can attach via arms with pivoting plates or magnet semi-circles. I used both. It keeps recordings up to 7 days for free. Motion activation works well and night vision is pretty solid. Batteries last awhile. Obviously longer the less they are triggered. On average I’d say I have to charge once every 4 months. (Winter can drain them a bit faster than summer but still at least 3 months). You can talk to people on camera from anywhere with the app. Highly recommend.

Easy set up and easy maintenance/battery charging
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had these over 6mo. and very pleased with purchase. Easy set up, at your fingertips connected to your phone, able to look back 7 days 24/7. Can keep what you want. Best part is the wireless connection. Able to move cameras to different locations at anytime. Nickname each area if you wish. The audio is clear and the video is very good daytime use. Nighttime is good, some difficultly to see distance at night. You are able to zoom up to see more but the nighttime is blurry, due to lack of light. (Not a lot of light on my street) I would buy again. I have the white in color with 4 cameras in pack. I live in a ranch style home. Only have used outside.

Good Wireless Setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far I'm really enjoying the Arlo Pro 2 setup I bought. They were easy to install and the free online storage is plenty for me. I have satellite internet and was worried about how much data they would use, but so far that hasn't been an issue. The one problem I have seen a couple times which I read about before I purchased was the camera going offline and needing the battery pulled to reset it. It's only happened twice but the second time it happened in the morning and seemed to drain half the battery by the time I was able to reset it. The app is easy to use once you spend a little time getting familiar with it. Overall, very happy with it, I will be buying additional cameras in the future.

Great upgrade from Arlo Pro first generation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well worth the extra money to upgrade from the Arlo pro first gen. I’ve designed security systems both professionally and for my own home for well over a decade. I’ve had the Arlos for about 3 years (since they came to market). I have 8 of these cameras with two Arlo Q’s. Highly recommend the pro 2 over the pro 1. Much better video quality (almost as good as the Arlo Qs). Much better connectivity reliability. Battery is about the same even though it’s 1080 vs 720. Happy so far. Waiting for Arlo to work out the kinks on the 4Ks before integrating them in. I’ve heard they have issues. The solar panel add-on is worth considering as it takes out the pain of changing batteries every month or two. I also have 7 Ring cams (which I like but are not near as reliable - a like / hate relationship) and 4 Logi Circle cams (which are the most reliable). Each have their own strengths and weaknesses which would take awhile to write about. If the batteries lasted longer, I would give 4.5 stars. Keep in mind, these cameras are as good as your providers bandwidth and most of all, your network equipment. I highly recommend using Orbi AC3000’s with satellites in proximity of the cameras. Best Buy is a great place to get these too. While I’m at it - kudos to the Best Buy at Blakeney in Charlotte, NC. This is one of the best Best Buy’s I’ve been in (I’ve been in a lot). What makes them great is their people and their willingness to go the extra mile. I hope someone from Best Buy Corporate HQ is reading this and gives them some recognition. Awesome store!

Good System But ...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 1080 cameras are very clear and capture a large portion of area. The app is very easy to use and you can set up any mode you want with any configuration of cameras. The deception is the activity zones. You are led to believe you can isolate an activity area to either ignore or view only, but what they don’t tell you until you get deep into the instructions and community user posts is that to do this the camera must be plugged in. So on the wireless camera outside my house (main road) I can’t isolate the street to ignore it so the camera doesn’t capture every car that drives by. If I want to pay the extra fee I can have access smart notifications to turn off vehicle detection but it is not always accurate and I don’t want to have the system miss something because it thinks it’s a car. Smart notifications is not wholly accurate. This is a wireless camera system and all of the features should be operational wirelessly. How do I plug in a camera that’s attached to a tree???? Activity zone works great on my Arlo Q which is a plugged in camera. Also, when the power goes out the cameras die - no battery backup? I haven’t figured that out yet. Customer Service from Netgear is impossible to get through to, their chat window spins and never connects you to someone. Based on the cameras, the ease of the app I’d give it 5 stars. BUT FOR the activity zone and back-up battery problems which I consider big issues, and the lack of support from Netgear, both which I give 2 stars, I would still recommend the system - with an * attached

Great Security System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great video and sound quality. The only thing that could be better is the lag time between when it detects motion and actually starts recording. That being said, my daughter has the Ring system and the same thing applies there. Installation was a breeze! I love the wireless option. Recharging the batteries doesn't take long, when needed. I plan on adding more cameras in the near future.

Stick with the older version
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the original Arlo and Arlo Q. I love the audio features of the Arlo Q, and I hate buying batteries all the time, so when I saw this latest model that solved both as well as the promise of 1080p, I jumped on it despite the very high price. What a mistake. The audio is all but worthless. You have to put your mouth right up to the camera to hear anything. My arlo Q can pick up sounds from 50 feet away! The daytime quality is about the same as my original arlo (which is only 720p) while the nighttime quality is very much worse. The picture is in black and white, while the original arlo camera sitting right next to this one is in color with much more visible detail. And mind you, this is inside my house in the evening, not an actual low light scenario. I am so disappointed in this camera system which is opposite of an upgrade. Do youself a favor and get the older, cheaper version. I do like the arlo, just not this version of it.

Didn’t even last a year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually only try to leave positive reviews, but the customer service at Arlo had me going out of my way to setup an account here to leave a negative one. We purchased these cameras at Best Buy last Fall/Winter. Setup wasn’t terrible, just took a little while to tweak the settings to what we wanted and get used to having security cameras in your life. The constant updates everytime the wind blows or a bug flies by you eventually acclimate to. The peace of mind a camera brings outweighs most of the little things. The picture was decent and the sound they pick up is impressive. Talk back through the cameras never worked all that well, the lag/delay makes it not efficient. The batteries seemed to last a month, maybe less, maybe more on another camera. Which is more than adequate in the grand scheme. Recharge only took a few hours for each. The battery life when functioning correctly is great. Unfortunately this summer one of the cameras stopped working all together. Here is where Arlo fails and fails in a big way. Customer service. I spent an hour on the phone, a good portion of which I was waiting on hold, with a rep that while was friendly, I had a very hard time understanding him on the phone. The conclusion of the call was that Arlo would replace my defective camera. Great... but not so fast. Here I am weeks later and still trying to jump through hoops to get it. The email Arlo sent to me had a link which I clicked and filled out the information needed. Free shipping if time wasn’t an issue, or Pay to expedite. Fair enough, but the problem was when I went to click to final button to submit, it didn’t work. The button was out of service. I was not able to submit my request. I wasn’t pretty frustrated... sitting on the phone for an hour isn’t practical anymore. Working 2 jobs and having a family with young kids, I don’t have time to be doing this all day or even every day. Especially sitting on the phone for an hour. Why wouldn’t Arlo just finish the replacement request while they had me on the phone in the first place....? It gets better (worse). Apparently I didn’t complete the replacement email fast enough and Arlo cancelled my inquiry. Essentially meaning I would have to call all over and start the process again. After 7 days. So I replied to the email again and said that this was not acceptable... so Louie (the rep) sent me another email with another link. Which this time didn’t even open to begin with when clicked. So I replied again saying the link is broken. At this point I’m running out of patience. So I reply to the previous email link (getting confusing right...) saying I’m fed up with the process and don’t have time for the games, I provide my address and indicate I want the free shipping option, please send me a confirmation of shipment. Louie replied completely ignoring my request asking which link isn’t working and to try again. Which of course doesn’t work... again. To which I reply indicating so. To which Louie asks me to send a screen shot of the issue... So here I am. A couple of weeks later with a broken camera. No replacement in sight and playing games with Arlo customer service for which I don’t have the time to play. The system didn’t even last a year. Customer service is sending my in circles. Maybe the cost of this system is cheap enough for some of you reading this where you don’t care if it breaks quick and can go buy another one... or maybe you have the time and patience to wait on hold for 25 minutes before you even speak to a rep who you can barely understand, but in my opinion I spent the hard earned money on a product that failed extremely fast and shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get it rectified. The hour long phone call should have been enough. Seems to me Arlo is playing a game in hopes I just give up and go away. Which may happen... but I’ll see how many of you I can take with me.

Great upgrade, still has issues though
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.* Note: I am an IT and camera tech for a police department, so I deal with A LOT of different peoples DVR systems, and a lot of those fail unfortunately. I may be way more picky than most, but in this case that’s probably good. This review though is for my home setup. We purchased the original Arlo 6 camera system a couple years ago. We’re back and forth on them, because battery life was horrible, they would constantly lose connection, and never caught what I needed. We had 1 person jump our fence and steal a bike, and it didn’t record everything. So that was a negative. Then about a year later we had someone kick in a gate into our backyard literally 10 minutes after I pulled the camera on the gate to replace batteries. So we caught nothing. We were looking for a replacement and swear off Arlo. BUT, if you look around, they are still one of the top in their catagory (I think we’re still a long ways off). So we decided to try the new Arlo Pro 2 setup on our Elite membership. If it didn’t improve we’d get rid of them. So far, these are a lot better than the ones before. There’s still issues I think, it doesn’t always record when you wish it did. For that I subscribed to the CVR on 1 camera plugged in on our front door. It’s ok. Still have found dead spots where there’s no recordings though. The battery life is leaps better. That I think is the biggest improvement. The audio also is a great addition. We now have 10 Arlo cameras, with 1 CVR and upgraded service. It’s a big improvement with the Pro 2’s, but there’s still room for improvement. PS. Netgear, ADD HOMEKIT.
