After used this system for a long time and I have to say stay away from them!!! None customer support! Tons of bugs in their system and you never know your camera is working or not! Super expensive to add on! Not worth it at all! Super long delay on pictures! I would suggest to get a wired system!!

Picture quality wasn’t great. A lot of false alarms and when someone actually did walk into my yard, the motion was not detected. Also, the batteries needed to recharge in less than 24 hours (battery life from 100% to 20%) . I returned after 3 days and bought a Swann which I’m very happy with.

I was very disappointed with the battery life because the sales rep told me it would last 6 months till I recharge. Unfortunately it did not last one whole month. There needs to be a way for the camera to stay charged along with usage atleast for 6 months.

The Pro would not stay connected to base station. I had 2 of the original Arlo cameras and they worked flawlessly but the Pro camera would not stay connected. Returned product and hooked original back up. Was really hopeful for the Pro but was disappointed.

I've had the cameras a little over a year now. At first the picture was great, but then as time went on, it got worse. I've cleaned them and stuff but it didn't help. Now the battery of one of them completely stopped working. Bad, Bad quality... Wasted $402 USD

The firmware released in May has all but made these cameras junk. 4-6 month battery life has been reduced to 2 weeks. The infrared sensor stays on even when the cameras are DISARMED.
There are over 1000 posts on Arlo's support forum with people experiencing this issue. Arlo's response has been poor.

Overblown GARBAGE

After all the positive reviews I expected this system to be at the very least GOOD, instead it was feces. Too sensitive, but if you adjust the sensitivity it doesn't register. The audio is garbage, the lag is worse, the batteries don't last for anything.

Not for use with lots of motion. Battery life for me was 10 days. Salesperson response when asked about life of batteries was "6 months " not true. Maybe if you have no neighbors and live in country.

Ever since something was destroying one of my plants in the front yard I've been thinking about security cameras. Along comes the Arlo pro and it's wireless cameras! I figured the system had no wires what so ever but that isn't true. The *cameras* have no wires. They are wireless. However there is a Base module that you plug into your router via Ethernet cable. So again, not completely wireless.
Now I'm not that handy when it comes to setting up things but the Setup for this system was as simple as it gets. From opening the box to having 2 running cameras took about 20 minutes. The batteries are already charged so it was a simple matter of following the 6 or so easy steps.
The system comes with a single mount for each camera. It's a little 1/2 sphere that is magnetic. The camera has an 1/2 sphere indent on the back of it. You mate the two together and you can position it by hand very easily. You'll want to install the mobile app because you can see the camera live. That helps when performing the positioning. The way you mount the 1/2 sphere is by simply putting a screw (included) in the wall. The 1/2 sphere mounts on it just like a picture frame does. Simple.
Speaking of the mobile app. It works pretty darn well. You can do probably about everything that you can on the computer with it. It allows you to easily configure a variety of settings for each camera as well as the system as a whole.
One of the things I was hoping to do is to have a camera peering out my window which means 1) it's indoors and 2) behind glass. That works for the daytime but not for night time. All you get after dark are the reflection of the IR lights. It also will NOT detect motion outside through glass. It's true IR which is to say, it's looking for heat differences. It can't tell heat differences through glass. Bottom line, to be full featured, if you are going to record outside, the camera needs to be outside.
As I indicated earlier, the camera mounts to a 1/2 sphere metal ball. It's simply a magnet. That means if the camera is within grasp, you simply give it a little tug and the camera is now released from the mount and fully in your hands. For this reason it's best mounted in a position that it's not easy to reach. There are some alternative mounts you can purchase to have it more screwed in. Remember though, it runs on a battery and therefore you must have access to it to charge it.
Speaking of charging the battery. The specs say it can last as long as 6 months per charge under optimal conditions. In my limited use so far it seems that recording time plays a factor. The default configuration is set for 10 seconds of recording. I boosted that to the maximum of 2 minutes. I found that it did begin to drain the battery pretty good so I've scaled that back to 45-60 seconds. My first camera is down to 86% after 3 days of usage The first day it used about 8% as I was doing all kinds of playing with it. Now that it's setup, it looks like I'm losing about 2% a day. That would put it at somewhere around 2 months per charge. My second camera is faring much better. It's still reading 100% but it's just started to record. So I guess the bottom line is, your mileage may vary. Probably at worst you might have to charge it once every 2-3 weeks.
Arlo gives you 7 days of recording on the web for free. For me that seems sufficient. I get alerts via the app when movement occurs as well as an email. The Arlo app does work with my Android watch so I see the alert on it as well. While I'm away from my house I can view the video it recorded very nicely. I can also stream the camera live anywhere I want as well. Remember, it does suck down some battery life to perform this action. And for that reason I read that it limits streaming to 30 minutes before you have to press the button to continue.
The camera does have Night Vision. It does a very fine job with it. I can pretty clearly see faces when they come to my front door. Very cool.
As for recording movement, the specs say something like 20 feet away or so. That's very much within reason. Depending on your scenario, it will record activity a little further away but 15 feet to 20 feet would be the sweet zone for distance. There is about a 1 second or so delay between movement identification and the start of the video recording. I wish it were a little quicker than that.
All in all it's a pretty sweet package. I don't know what other security packages do so I have nothing to compare it to. All I do know is, I am horrible with construction so the thought of having to drill holes, run wires and more is not something I wanted to tackle. Setup was easy, hanging them was easy, configuration was reasonably easy. I like easy!

I tried and tried to use this. Everyone told me that I need to purchase more items for it to pick up my internet. Wrong, I get internet with everything in my home and not for this.
Sorry, but no I shouldn’t have to purchase other items to make this work.

Arlo is a total disappointment I do not recommend, it’s a faulty product and warranty is only for 1 year which is clearly because they know it may only last that long working properly. Do yourself a favor and buy another brand and or product that would be better. I regret my purchase.

Worst buy I ever made for my home. Batteries are horrible, cameras fail all the time and alro doent stand behind any of it. If you put the warranty on it best buy prorate it so you will still pay for the new item if you want to keep the warranty on the new camera or charger.

Want to love, but several quirks

I helped my parents set up a QSee set of wired cameras for their shop and was very satisfied with its installation/operation. I've wanted some wireless security cameras for the house for a while. The Arlo Pro system seemed to fit the bill.
The features that attracted me to the Arlo Pro over other brands is that they can be truly wireless (run off batteries), offer a wired option for power, and two way audio. At 8.25 ounces with battery installed, these cameras are pretty lightweight. Surprisingly, the battery is rated for 4-6 months of use in battery optimized mode. Initial setup was simple enough...insert battery, plug in base station and then press a button on the base station and on the camera to pair. However, I was disappointed to learn there is only one plug and cord for powering the two cameras. So if I want to wire both cameras for constant power, I have to purchase a separate cable and plug. Luckily it's micro-USB powered at 5V and 1.8A, so most modern phone chargers should work. I tried out the two-way audio while inside the house. While the microphone on the camera picks up fairly well, the speaker is inadequate. If I'm to ward off a would-be thief with two-way audio, I want my voice to boom with authority. The built in speaker just won't cut it.
I was impressed with the ease to mount the camera with the included mounts, it was then that I realized that the cameras are magnetic. The magnets are strong enough to hold the camera in the position you place it on the included hemispherical mounts. I had a little fun with the camera by sticking it on my fridge for a while. ;-) Unfortunately, the hemispherical mount didn't give me full flexibility in my application, so just a slight bit of carpentry was needed for my application.
I read on some forums that these cameras throw an error below 40 degrees (F). I happened to install these (battery only mode) in 19 degree (F) weather and there were no errors overnight.
The software is a little quirky. I installed it on my Android phone and auto-rotation does not work, I tried on my iPad and found the same problem. Next, in some cases when flipping between full screen mode and windowed mode, I lose camera controls. In those instances, I have to exit the app and then upon re-entering I regain camera controls. I have a 32 GB USB drive installed on the base station and cannot get it to manually write to the USB drive. I could only get it to record to USB when the system is armed with motion triggered recording. File size is pretty small at less than 1 meg per 10 seconds. The app is also slow to provide a Live View. Even on a decently fast wireless network, it takes several seconds to load.
Most disappointingly, I wanted the system armed overnight and because it was lightly snowing, I kept getting notifications/emails that motion was detected. I don't see a way to reduce sensitivity.
The included modes are what you would expect. Armed (On), Disarmed (Off), Scheduled (On/Off per schedule you set), and at the time of this review, a beta of Geofencing (auto-On when your phone leaves the vicinity), but it is limited to 1 phone, so with a family of 5, it's not worth setting up.
These cameras capture at 1280x720 pixels. The pictures are decently sharp for most applications. Night vision is fairly sharp too. But at that resolution, your subject needs to be less than 10 feet away from the camera to get good facial definition. I had 2 inch tall text on a wall 10 feet away and it was illegible. The zoom feature is worthless as everything gets too pixelated to help with anything. I'm also a little put off with the subscription system.
Currently with my free plan, I'm limited to 5 connected cameras. If I want more, I need to pay a monthly plan $10/month for up to 10 connected cameras. It then goes up from there to $50/month for up to 40 connected cameras and longer online storage duration.
I will probably buy a couple more cameras to get decent coverage of my house, the cameras themselves are a pretty good price for outdoor cameras. But with all the quirks, I can only give this system 3 Stars.
