Cameras show a really clear picture. They were easy to mount. Only downside is battery life. I find myself charging them every 3 weeks or so. Much sooner than I anticipated. The Arlo app is easier to navigate and has more security features than Ring. The night vision camera is both color and black & white. You can zoom in live or in past clipped videos. Long wifi range.

Incredibly good cameras but app is laggy in term of software and hardware issues within Arlo products, server, etc.. and not because of my iPhone 15 Pro Max’s hardware are weak It will be great if my system does not rely on Arlo at all but my base station and cameras are one system disconnected from arlo but connected to my wifi so it is perfectly independent of Arlo. I got 4 cameras for an incredibly good deal!!! I gave four stars so they are forced to keep on improving so struggling customers can have good experiences and enjoy good products!!! Over all I would give their products 5 stars but because the app is laggy in term of devices communicating with each other wirelessly etc.. they are always a few seconds behind. I have ATT Fiber so weak internet connection isn’t the problem. Their products have everything that I was looking for!!! Very easy to set up and install!!!! I love the charger a lot!!! I love how I can take out the batteries and charge them or charge them through wires!!! Also, Arlo needs to make it easy for customers to use third party products with Arlo systems like solar panels etc… I love the anti-theft lock and unlock feature to take out the batteries etc… Very thoughtful products but they can still be improved a lot and in so many areas!

Where to begin. I had high expectations for this. A security camera that you might be able to see detail from. I currently also use Ring and Blink. Arlo has been the worst experience compared to the other 2,( Ring also has been pretty annoying.. but that is not for this review...) using the app and maintaining the connection. It has been a drag to open the app, just to see, once again, my devices are not connected. As I reconnect them, and randomly it seems, it doesn't even recognize me and makes me log in again. Video quality, nice if you like a daily does of Green Screen - it seems at least once a day I'll get a video of Green, no idea why. They tell you to keep the top 1/6th portion of the recording area not part of the trigger area, so imagine you might want to not get a trigger on something to the left or right - nope, can't have that. Zoom in to the action they say, touchy touchy -cannot do that reliably. Video recognition - according to Arlo a mouse detected is actually a person. The sensitivity adjustment of the camera might as well be removed it's either everything or not much. A car going past the camera on the driveway, actually coming towards the camera, is perfect to catch the taillights of the car passing by the time the camera activates, this with sensitivity at 100. However, now every single time the wind blows a branch or leaves the camera goes on seconds after the event, so pick and choose, no battery life and all motion detected although 2 seconds late, no motion detected, boy, that battery life is great. Ugh. Scrub through the time or reverse sometimes works, or it will just switch to the next video in your list as you try to scroll. Power goes out? You're done, no more recording. I had a massive tree fall feet in front of Arlo and take out my power line in the process, I might have figured it would've recorded the falling part at least, before the power was cut. Nope. The other day, I got a video of nothing that I could see moving that lasted for 5 minutes long. It happened twice. As the set up goes, the 'anti theft mount' that you can just unscrew from the tension base, it's true, you wouldn't likely steal the mount, just the camera. The battery life, short, and don't you dare put the camera where you would only be able to access it with a ladder, you're going to be pulling out that ladder every 10 days or so. I bought the solar charger, Im not convinced Im going to even bother setting it up. Signal strength indicator goes from Strong, poor, ok, weak, strong, no signal in an area that is literally half the distance that Blink is at and connected to perfectly ( and those batteries have lasted for months ). Cost for connection- clearly in comparing the $250 something camera to $80 ish camera- connection isn't that important to Arlo. Subscription service for the recordings, I'm glad as of now that my service is still included, why charge for saving my bushes blowing and green screens.

Motion detection can be hot garbage at times and often I'll get videos that while the person is moving mid frame it stops video creating gaps in coverage where other times it records for 10 sec past the last movement. Clearly not 4k, download the videos directly off my 4k SD card and they are still too grainy to see a license plate unless they are close, feels like 720p or 1080p at best actually. Install and functionality is great but I bought these for 4k recording as a theft deterrent and I strongly feel they fall short on the primary function of high definition recordings. Despite having custom motion detection areas I feel the cameras struggle to recognize motion outside of a narrow focal range if you leave it wide open. I have a cam pointed at my front lawn with a sidewalk just above mid frame and it almost never picks up people walking past or up our stairs until they get almost to our door. As a camera system, I do like the ease of use and recording system with notifications but I'm dissappinted in the low rez quality and how it struggles to give me a complete video of a person moving within its field of view.

The Arlo camera works so great it even picks up bees and birds it’s a little funny seeing them on camera trying to figure out what’s a camera. The video quality is great and it’s cool that it saves the recording for so long. It has a nice look too. I really like the Ultra series 2 and would recommend getting. It has an adjustable vision and can catch a lot with its super wide view. Easy to install and even a light turns on like a motion light at night so you can see when you get home late at night.

We started with a Arlo Go 2 cellular camera for our construction build, but now since we have WiFi to the house, we purchased this set of the Ultra 2 & Woah! What great product! Seamlessly works wonderful in the app & backed-up to the microSD card. Camera has great resolution even in the rain & @ night. Even purchased the matching doorbell & chime, what a great package! If you’re reading bad reviews, they are probably for the lower quality ProS2 cameras. We had those too & returned them for this set of the Ultra 2. They are worth the upgrade$$$ We love the integration!

They are really difficult to operate you can records a prerecorded message instead of using the sirens. Even temu cameras have that option. The video quality sucks. I bought what i thought was the best and am seriously disappointed. If they disconnect from the base and you are out of town you cant reconnect until you are home and mine do it all the time so much for security.

Cameras work great. There is a 2 second delay between motion & start recording. I purchased a 400GB micro sd card and started using (see pics) the difference you have to download the image v. having it available + you can delete download but system will overwrite the SD card. I won’t need to pay monthly fee which was my plan for buying this device.

1). Too slow to capture. If a car enters my driveway, by the time they are shutting off their car, it finally starts recording. (YES - The sensitivity is adjusted) 2). Bait and switch - 4k - recording ONLY if I pay ARLO a monthly fee! So you DOWNGRADE my purchase if I don't pay you a FEE! Shameful... (YES - I KNOW I can still see {live} in a theoretical 4k if I'm home} - 3). Battery life!

Here is my review after 2 years of use. I’m very disappointed with this brand. The batteries barely last a couple of months, and the cameras often miss recording important moments, either skipping key details or cutting off early. The motion detection is poor, and to make things worse, I recently discovered the cameras aren’t weatherproof after finding water inside one of them. The solar panel I bought also failed after just a year, and their customer service has been terrible. I regret not getting the extended warranty from Best Buy.

Deeply disappointed with this product. Was told these were the best cameras on the market. The resolution seems great but becomes very grainy when zooming, I even upgraded our internet but that didn’t fix the problem. If one camera is recording the other one will not. I only have a small area to cover and motion was constantly missed or delayed as someone was walking out of the frame. Footage on the app would glitch freezing or showing a green screen. Notifications on app were not in real time either. Battery life is poor, installation is difficult and no option for privacy zone. Even worse trying to get any kind of customer support is impossible. Absolutely not worth the splurge but I wouldn’t buy this for any amount of money. Thankful total tech with Best Buy allowed for an exchange.

The Arlo Utra 2 Spotlight 2-camera system is Arlo’s updated 4K camera system bundle. The pack comes with two Ultra 2 cameras, base station, charge cable, (1) magnetic mount, and (1) threaded mount. These cameras are intended for indoor or outdoor use. I’ve had the cameras up and running for a few days now, and I have had the chance to fiddle around and get comfortable with the settings. Setup of the Arlo system like all things nowadays is completed with their app. Download the app and add a new system. The app walks you through the entire process, step by step, and is pretty straightforward. I had no issue connecting the base station to my home network (plugged the base station into a free port on a mesh node). I had to think about where I wanted the cameras, and it just so happened that I had an access point right in between where I planned to install the cameras. I setup the cameras inside before installing them on the outside of my house. Doing so also let me mess around with some of the settings to get a feel for the system. I drilled down through the menus in the app, which helped me familiarize myself with it. I got to play with the siren, spotlight, 2 way talking, and object recognition before heading outside. When spec’ing out a camera system you have to take into account your coverage area and what you need to monitor. This being a fully wireless system (and high resolution one at that) you will have to take into account how far away each camera is from the base station. This 2 camera bundle works well for me as an outdoor system since I have 2 entrances. Both have accessible vantages with clear views of everything I wanted to cover. This was made possible by the camera’s wide angle FOV (180°). I can see my entire driveway, front yard, front door and garage door from a single point located in the middle of my roofline. Same goes for my backyard from a single point. I entered into the Camera Positioning (Camera>Device Settings>Device Utilities>Camera Positioning) to do my setup and align my image. This menu also gives you a gauge for signal strength. Both cameras right now are rated at “Strong.” I initially didn’t use this utility but rather just used the regular live feed – don’t do it. It became annoying due to the alerts, spotlight turning on, etc. – use the positioning tool to avoid this. I set both cameras to use the widest FOV (180° - the default setting). This gives me the widest picture possible and really takes advantage of the 4K resolution. I created several activity zones – 2 in front, and 1 in the back of my house. I customized the activities that I wanted the camera to monitor, as well as adjusted their sensitivities. When I first set it up I would get pinged about a vehicle in the camera view that just happened to be driving down my street. I was impressed that it picked that up, but I didn’t need that far of a reach. My backyard I left on motion and people detection. For the front I have motion, vehicle, package, and people. I had animal detection turned on in my backyard (trash cans and raccoons), but unfortunately I ran into some false detections. It kept picking up my wispy ornamental grass blowing in the breeze and thinking it was an animal. I mounted both of my cameras to the soffit underneath my gutters (using the short mount, and security mount I bought extra). I had to predrill the holes to use the provided screws, but they held on well (I hit a stud for at least 1 screw on each camera). Both cameras are easy to reach with a ladder but are out of reach without one. This way it should be easy for me to bring the cameras in when they need to charge, and I am confident that they can’t be swiped. As far as detection accuracy goes the camera does a really good job. The lag from detection to my phone getting a notification is about 3 seconds, so its pretty quick. One thing to note when using the wide angle is detection becomes difficult at the extremes of the FOV – detection range is listed as 150°. My package detection picked up a box if it was set a few feet away from my door, but it didn’t recognize a box if it was right at my door (the edge of my FOV). Same goes for detecting me when I walk out the front. If I walk right along the edge I can get right underneath the camera without it sending me a notification. Once I am close enough it will recognize me, but I can walk 10-15ft in view of the camera without it triggering a recording. I can adjust my camera to see less of my driveway and more of my front porch to get around this, but just something to note when you are setting up your zones. On the Brightside the cameras were not triggered by the rain I have had the last 2 days, so that’s pretty nice. The image quality out of the cameras is excellent. The 4K HDR image is very crisp and sharp, so even small details can be picked out. I can zoom in on a license plate that is 40ft away and read it. Daytime colors are somewhat expected to be good though. What I was most interested in was how it performed at night. The camera touts color night vision, and I have to say it works pretty well. The image certainly has its ISO turned way up, but I can see things pretty well. Once the little spotlight pops on it gets even better. Other features of the camera system include a siren, two-way talk, spotlight, call a friend, e911, local storage, cloud storage, and up to 6-month battery life. The siren is triggered by the user in the app when there is a detection event. You get a pop-up that warns you it may be loud – its not. I laughed a bit when I did the siren because its quiet. It might be enough to deter a person in the moment, but it won’t alert anyone in your home’s vicinity that something is going on. The two-way talk isn’t too bad. There’s some lag/delay with it, so a fluid conversation isn’t somewhat tough. Your voice sounds pretty good coming out of the camera (not super loud, but just above normal conversation). The microphone on the camera and playback through the app is pretty quiet though and can make it hard to hear. The spotlight works great and casts just enough light to give a clear picture. It also acts as a warning to anyone poking around that they have been spotted. Call a friend and e911 both have to be enabled and setup in the app. These features come in to play if there is a detected event. Local storage is done on the base station with a microSD card. Arlo recommends a minimum 16GB UHS-1 rated card, but supports up to UHS-3 cards. I couldn’t find anything regarding the maximum card size. Cloud storage is initially free for the first 3 months, and then there are 2 plans you can opt into that keeps a 30 day log of you recordings. The Premier Plan is for 2K and the Elite Plan is for 4K – both charge a monthly rate. If you want to do Continuous Video Recording the camera must be connected to a power supply. As far as battery life goes the advertised 6 months is if you don’t have a ton of alerts, streaming is at a minimum, the spot light isn’t on much, and power management is set to ‘Best Battery Life.’ Right now after 5 days of use I am down to 96% on both cameras – close to 1% a day. At this rate I should get close to 3 months, and this may vary depending on how the outside temp affects the battery life. There were a couple of things about this setup I have issues with. First being the mounts – why is there only 1 of each? The magnet mount is great for indoors, but I would be very leery using it outdoors. The opposite is true for the indoor/outdoor short mount since it seems a bit overkill for indoor usage. I ended up going to Best Buy and snagging the last (and only) Arlo mount they had in stock – the Outdoor Security Mount (VMA1000). This worked great, but it seems weird that only 1 of each mount is included at this price point. The other is the app. It just seems to run slowly and clunky. There is a noticeable amount of lag with the app. The 2-way voice is tough to use due to this. On multiple occasions the camera would freeze and I would have to jump around inside the app before it would re-establish the connection. I would say it has worked 95% of the time, but it really needs to be 100% uptime if you want to rely on this solution for security monitoring. Overall, the camera system worked as good as I expected. I have always heard good things about the Arlo cameras, and I was happy to see that they met those expectations. There were a view issues, but they are pretty minor, and likely something that can be improved with software/firmware updates. The cameras themselves were very easy to setup and deploy, so even a tech novice could setup this security system.
