Great Product. This product is slim which if your like me then the space where you put your internet materials is limited. Additionally, while using this modem I received lighting quick speeds. I additionally like the 2 Ethernet ports in the back (make sure to check with your ISP if you pay for more than one public IP address) this gave me flexibility in my home networking needs. For this price, this modem cannot be beaten. It also one of the most accepted modems which allows flexibility in ISP providers.

Yes, it works fine on Mediacom!

We came home from our vacation and found out that our internet had been off for several days. I called Mediacom and had them ping my modem, and it showed as connected from their end, but my router showed no internet. For whatever reason, it appeared that the modem was connected, but no signal was coming from its ethernet connection to the router. I tried both replacing the cable, and then tried to connect directly to the modem with two different laptops. No signal, no soap. I found this modem on BestBuy, but the box and description did not specifically guarantee it would work with Mediacom, but was compatible with most cable systems. I hooked up the modem and use used the Arris app to configure it. As instructed by the App, I had to call Mediacom to get the modem provisioned and configured, but the call did not take long, and Mediacom showed me as connected. I still had to complete the steps required by the modem and go all the way through and complete its setup process, but when I did, I was connected. Everything has worked perfectly since and with the DOCSIS 3.1 modem, I am getting the full benefit of my Gigabit internet service.

Very good working DOCSIS 3.1 modem for internet services. Easy to set up for the most part, very compatible with just about every cable provider, small and compact. It was worth buying a modem rather than renting one and paying the monthly fee from my provider. Also works in conjunction with any wireless router. I will say that before purchasing, please double check with your cable provider to see what modem you need because some providers will still let you use DOCSIS 3.0 but some will require 3.1

Excellent device and a nice upgrade from our aging Netgear CM1100, the Netgear was a great device for us for the first 3-4 years but like every device it gets old and time to upgrade. So we went with the Arris and it’s been a nice addition to the household. Easy installation easy setup and we are back online with minimal issues or lag. Now the speeds are maxing out for the price we pay and it’s incredible to see. No more bogged down speeds or limitations. It’s an amazing device. Was able to price match the device, amazing was selling it for $30 dollars cheaper and I also had a Best Buy gift certificate for $15 so I also applied that, walked out of Best Buy paying $114.00. Always check to see if the item or items you are about to purchase are on sale at another store or online to get some additional savings. Overall right now I’ll give it a 10/10. Price performance size and connectivity.

This is a solid, reliable modem. I bought this after reading plenty of reviews and reading about its features as well as that of the competitors. So far it works well without a fuss. Sometimes I may lose wifi signal and have to turn my modem and router off and on again but I think it's probably my cable provider's router which I'm still using since it's free. I like that it's compact, about ~4.5 inches deep and the same size tall. It was actually quite a bit smaller than the modem that I was renting from optimum. I only have a couple of qualms: 1. The Modem is advertised as being a 2 Gb router. The reality is that it is a 1Gb + 1Gb router. That means that even if your cable provider gives you a plan bigger than 1 Gb internet, the maximum speed this modem supports on any given ethernet port (it has 2) is 1 Gb. In order to use the full 2 Gb, you would have to purchase another IP address for your house/apartment. 2. I've heard that it runs a bit hot. As a result, I ended up buying a cooling fan to put on top of it laying on its side to keep it cool. It was inexpensive and it'll protect my investment in the long run. 3. I was actually more expensive at another site that I don't want to mention, (but let's just say that they are named after a large rainforest in South America) than at BestBuy. If you can get it for less than $150, it's an excellent deal. As it stands, it's just ok. I bit the bullet and bought it because the other site was out of stock and I didn't want to keep paying my ISP $10 a month on modem rental fees.

I more than doubled my internet download speed by upgrading my modem from DOCSIS 3.0 to DOCSIS 3.1 technology! My old ARRIS cable modem served me well for ten years with zero issues however, the new model is much more capable. I'm very pleased with the performance of the new model so far.

I purchased this new Ahis Arris Surfboard 8200 modem to replace the identical model which was over 5 years old but was starting to lose signal and drop the connection to my Cox Gigblast service. I decided to purchase the identical model to replace the original modem which had served my family and I faithfully for over five years. Even with the occasional drop of signal the original modem was still running strong and giving my home the speeds I'm paying for from Cox. Additionally this is a recommended model from Cox (according to their tech specs) so I decided to be consistent. Best Buy was also kind enough to take 20% off the purchase price when I recycled the old modem. So save money in the long term and don't rent from your ISP. Buy this modem and save those monthly fees. On a side note, once I set up the new/replacement modem with Cox, all I had to do was swap wires and bring my home built wireless network back online too. Go get yours today!

Foolish to rent the router from internet provider

I had read repeatedly that the income of not having the monthly rental from your internet provider would pay for the hardware quickly. But foolishly I felt that it would be a sketchy solution, that somehow the Internet provider would be a "safer" or "more reliable" access. Now about 6 months later, I have saved easily the cost of the cable modem, and the Wifi router is getting close to paid off. The coverage in our house is better, and reliability has been rock stable. It took only about 20 minutes to go through the well outlined steps to set up both modem and router, with no prior experience in doing so.

I have been running this modem for a little over 3 weeks now. I bought it because I upgraded my home internet speeds to 1Gbps and needed a more powerful modem that was compatible with those speeds. I paired it with a Netgear Nighthawk BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 router and have not had one connectivity issue and have been experiencing max bandwidth. Also eliminates the need to pay the ISP the ridiculous month rental fees. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have seven children. Six are old enough to enjoy connected devices. This summer, with everyone home and online, it seemed our 8 channel modem was bogging down and in need of reboot every couple of days. So, I went big and purchased this 32 channel 3.1 modem. So far so good. After a month it has yet to need rebooting and internet speeds seem consistently faster and more stable (if not perfect) when everyone is online. I'm an Xfinity customer and I did need to call customer service inorder to activate the modem. The packaging seemed to suggest that I might be able to avoid calling them (always a plus), but in the end it was unavoidable and really not that bad. Overall, product feels heavy duty, is supposedly future proof and gets the job done. Is it better than 3.0 modems going for half the price? I can't say. But it is working great and being an early adopter, at least I can feel secure knowing that should anything go wrong, I can call customer support and complain loudly about my dissapointment with their highest end product and maybe expect some movement. :-) Thankfully, so far no need to make that call.

Works great with Optimum 400Mbps service

I bought this cable modem after upgrading from 200Mbps to 400Mbps service. With the old modem I was renting from Optimum I barely cleared 200 and they confirmed that I needed a newer one for the higher speeds. They sent me a new one overnight at no cost, but I had been wanting to buy my own anyway to avoid the modem rental fee. Assuming no premature failure, I'll break even after just over 1 yr since rental was $10/month. No regrets. The manual setup to enable the new modem on the Optimum network and connect it to my account was fairly painless. I did have to upgrade my router as well because it was another bottleneck, limiting me to just over 300Mbps even with the new modem. But with the new router and new modem in place, I get around 420Mbps download speeds as advertised and the connection has been stable for over a month. Optimum makes it difficult to be confident that a cable modem you buy will work on their service. They list only 3 or 4 compatible modems on their website and all were Arris Touchstone models that seem not commonly sold direct to consumers. I only found refurb models for sale of the higher end one that I needed. Most Arris SurfBoard, Netgear, etc cable modems print on the packaging which providers they are compatible with, but I found zero online or in store that officially state they work with Optimum. I'm sure Optimum would rather you pay to rent them anyway. The Best Buy rep in store was aware of 2 others that work with Optimum, but even they didn't know that this one also does.
