I had had been watching this laptop along with a couple others for about 2 months after seeing them in the store. I have been on the fence about getting a new laptop for about a year. I had bought my Lenovo from Best Buy a few years ago for about $299/$329/$349 on sale and I didn't want to spend more than that. I primarily use my iPad when I can, but use my laptop to back up my home DVDs to play on my iPad, along with using my iTunes, and scanning A lot of old pictures. I also convert home movies. My computer game playing days are behind me now. No action games, just a few word games and puzzles. All the action games are best played on a game console, or at least a powerful laptop. This can handle anything you throw at it productivity wise. It will handle Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc. The best part about this laptop is that it has a good if not great, low end processor in the I core i3. That was my 1st requirement. You will have fewer issues with the core i3, i5, or i7 for your processor. I also wanted a minimum 4gb of memory, this comes with that, and can be upgraded to 8gb. You have to take it apart though. Same for battery, or anything you would change, hard drive, etc. That is up next, I had a 1 TB as my minimum hard drive size. My new iPhone can shoot 4K video and I will need somewhere to store it. Portable hard drive you say, that's the last thing I need, okay, 2nd to last, a usb3 to connect it to. My Lenovo is nice, the same setup as this, but only a 500gb hard drive, and only 3 - usb2 ports. The usb3 is much faster, so I wanted that. This laptop also comes with a USB C, which is a new USB port, smaller than the old one, with the speed of a USB 3. So a little forward I guess. All in all, this met all my requirements, even the last one, that it have a DVD drive, a burner to allow me to make my own DVDs. After watching this for a while, going to bed one Sunday night, I see it on a 4 hour flash sale for $237. I had already decided I didn't really "need" one, but if I ever saw this for $249 or less, I would buy it. The regular price is $329, and it's priced at $299 quite a bit. For the $237 price tag, I couldn't pass it up. So to Best Buy, had you not caught my eye with the "Flash Sale", I still would not have parted with the cash and purchased this. Two last notes, I really like the "brushed" look on this laptop, I originally didn't want a silver, but I thought this was pretty cool, also so thin and light, great if you will be using this in school, or carrying it around in a back pack. My last note, if you read my "novel" this far, just buy it! You won't regret it. My only "con" on this for me, is it does take a little while to set up. However now that it's done, I get very fast boot ups. I say just buy it, if you really don't like it after you do, you can always return it within 14 days. If you buy it, you won't though, this is a keeper.

I was debating between the asus and the hp. I am so happy I went with the asus!!!

This laptop is a No! I it starts shutting down a while. If you want a quality laptop you need to invest in a better & more expensive one.

Asus puts out great computers at an affordable price. Runs great, no complaints.
