Exactly what i needed, Use Asus Pen for Stylus
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this computer for over a month now and so far everything is working great. I really liked the touch screen and the tablet feature which was something i was needing. Its also really light weight and more compact. Computer Case: It is labeled as a 15.6 inch but because its more compact it will not fit nicely in a 15.6 inch computer case. I found that the computer is smaller then the case. A 15 inch case or possibly a 14 inch (haven't tried that size) might work. Hard Drive: I wasn't to happy are the HDD. I would recommend changing it out for an SSD. HDD is pretty slow but doable, the last computer i had was like that so i was use to it but i upgraded to SSD instead. I did leave the HDD in for a few weeks and the computer worked just fine with it but it was slow, with the SSD its much much faster. Stylus: For the Stylus, i spent awhile looking for one that would work with this and as far as i can tell the bamboo pen does not work. I found success with the asus pen which great and requires no set up. It literally worked right out of the box. It runs about $54 Speakers seem to not to loud on some things but thats not really a big deal. I did have a problem with one of the windows update where the computer slowed down and felt glitchy, but once it updated, another update popped up right after which fix it. Overall its a pretty nice computer and is working great for me.

Good so far....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for about 4 months now and so far its been running smooth. When i was looking for a laptop i was searching for a computer that would be decent all around. (Music/art editing, schoolwork, gaming, etc.) When doing schoolwork I usually have Office Word open along with multiple tabs open on chrome as well as iTunes and my laptop still runs smooth. I game on steam and the laptop runs pretty good on medium settings and resolution (1920x1080). I'm not a big gamer on PC so this works fine, if you're looking for a serious gaming laptop than i'd go for something else but this works fine for me. One thing i can say is that this laptop heats up a bit when playing fps games or high resolution games like rust. It doesn't seem to slow the laptop down but the keyboard gets pretty warm. I also wish i could do more stuff with the touch screen. I can't seem to find a good touch screen paint app that is supported by this laptop. If you're reading this and you know a good art app that runs with the touchscreen compatibility of this laptop please let me know in the comments!! I've been reading other reviews on this laptop and i saw some people complaining about how this laptop slowed down significantly or broke after a couple months which has me a bit worried... As for now, it's still running smooth. My Asus is up to date with all the software updates and i'm happy with my purchase. If you have any questions feel free to ask and i'll try to get back to u asap.

Best and affordable choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this computer for nearly 5 years now. It was a great investment/purcharse. I recommed this laptop 100% specially for students. The only thing that I changed it was the storage. Other than that, I have zero problems.

4.5 Stars Excellent for most users
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very lite for a 15.6 inch laptop with these specs. Getting 8 hours battery life with background apps and cortana off. Swapped out the original hard drive for a Samsung 970 evo nvme, this made the laptop extremely fast, added an hour of battery life. Good build quality. Using it for photo editing, spreadsheets, general web surfing, netflix, etc. Excellent sound. A few negatives that took a 1/2 star off: 1. number pad, maybe i'll get use to it but there is room for a full size pad with keys in the correct place. 2)Runs a little hot, power adapter gets hot. 3) fn hotkeys in reverse, this is a asus thing not sure if its on purpose. 4) adaptive brightness doesn't disable, the option to disable disappeared after last windows / asus bios update. Definitely update the bios first thing, it ill make set up a lot easier.

Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop for working on papers and for business. I upgraded from Lenovo T420 to this Asus. I was a bit skeptical at first because of its cost which summed up to 1000 with tax. I am happy to say I really enjoy typing on the computer and its speed. I it a bit larger then my previous computer but I love it because I have to open alot of tabs for my job. I did upgrade the 2 TB harddrive to a SSD which made the laptop faster then I would have ever suspected (Thanks Geek Squad.) Now the 2TB is my external hardrdive and my computer is capable of opening up multiple screens while I watch a movie on it.

very nice computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.went to BestBuy to buy another computer that happened to be out of stock.the sales girl was very helpful said we could order it.But my computer at home had died so I wanted to replace it that day.she showed me this computer that was not even on display yet. but they had it under counter.she pulled it up on bestbuy website so I could check out the features. I like it and the price I thought was good so I phurchased it and glad I did it is the best computer I have bought.evry thing is nice about it the keyboard lights ,its very fast I am not to computer savy but the key board is very nice easy touch and big letters did not think I would like a 2n1 but so glad I bough this one.as my cat likes to lay in my lap in the am so I just fold it up and hold it closer ,and the screen size is nice and very sharp. there is nothing about the computer that i dislike i paid 1029.99 for this computer on 03/03/18 get up the very next morning look at best buy website and shocked to see the very same computer priced at 879.99 that's 150$ dollars less than what i spent less than 24 hours ago. look to me like someone should have told me about the sale coming up make me sort of mad i could have saved 150.00 if i would have just waited . why was i not told about this i don't know but makes me sick 150.00 is a lot of money to me but back to the laptop i would say buy it now its a great laptop just wish i would have bought it at the sale price and saved 150.00 the sales lady was very nice and helpful just wish she would have said come back the very next day

No problems..runs great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw a few negative reviews of this machine and all I can say is you must have had a different machine. I had no problems setting up and no problems since...it has been perfect! I have had dozens of laptops over the years and this is far and away the best.

Improved speed performance after SSD upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a totally different opinion about this laptop following the SSD upgrade. The login screen appears within 10 seconds upon boot up and applications open within a couple of seconds. Very satisfied with this laptop performance and will be more than satisfied when it makes it past six years as my previous laptop did. 5 star rating based on performace after SSD upgrade.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was great.. for the first 6 months. Then it went crazy. Said I had no system to reboot or anything. I took it into geek squad, and they said I'd have to pay to get the OS back on it. Asus said the exact same, even though it still had a 1 year warranty. So, I said I wasn't going to pay another $130 bucks that they insisted it would be. So a guy at geek squad said he would take it and work on it. He ended up reinstalling windows on my computer, and didn't charge me. Fast forward 5 months, and the exact same thing happens. I take it in to best buy and explain what happened last time, and how its happening again. I ask if it's the hard drive this time, simply because it's happened twice now. And the system keeps saying there is nothing to boot on my device. They say no that its somehow had the OS wiped from the hard drive. That to fix it this time, I'm going to have to pay for it. So I call ASUS AGAIN, and they try to walk me through reinstalling a windows system. Which they want ME to pay for again. I refuse. I end up turning it on and off about 6 more times and somehow it magically comes on this time. But now it's suuuuuper slow, and keeps glitching somewhat. So fast forward 2 months, and it completely shuts down again. So at this point it is a month past the warranty expiring. This time I take it into best buy and the guy says, "I'm pretty sure you have a broken haddrive. It's actually really common in this model." But what it is doing is literally what it's done both of the other times. The guy says "Maybe it looks the same, but it's not" BUT IT IS. All of the warning messages, all of the glitches, all of everything is EXACTLY the same. Plus NOW they tell me a messed up hard drive is common? It's ridiculous. They want to charge me like $315 to replace the hard drive as well, which is also ridiculous when you can get the part itself for $60-80 bucks. I will never buy from BestBuy again, will never buy ASUS again, and I'm closing my credit card account with BestBuy.

Bad track record with Asus
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Asus laptop in as many years. While this one hasn't started using 100% CPU, yet, it HAS started going into hibernation randomly, even when my hand is on the mouse and it's plugged in. I have changed all power/sleep settings to never, but that hasn't helped. I have scoured the internet for a fix, nothing works. Also, it doesn't awaken from sleep mode when I move the mouse or use the keyboard. Since I use it with dual monitors, I have to open the laptop and press the power button to revive it, and about 80% of the time, after the ASUS boot screen, the screen goes black and never takes me to login; power light is on, but the screen remains black.

Major Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer has some serious issues. It' must be a bad batch of computers from ASUS or it's not compatible with Windows 10. I went through two of these laptops before I decided to just exchange it for a different laptop altogether. After the initial boot up and installation of Windows 10 (which took over 8 hours) the first laptop would not download anything like Microsoft Office. I would enter the code on the prepaid card I got and I would get an error saying the card was not active. When I thought it was just the card I got another one and the same thing happened, so I got a new computer. Luckily, Best Buy let me exchange the defective laptop for a new one. For the second computer, after the Windows 10 update (which initially took almost 8 hours to complete) the computer ran so slow and I could not even open more than one thing at a time. Windows would also occasionally freeze and become unresponsive and I would need to restart the computer by just holding down the power button because I could not open the start menu. It would also frequently glitch out when I switched between tablet mode and just using it as a normal computer. Sometimes when I flipped it the computer would just stay in the mode it was previously in. I would need to flip the screen back, let it sit there for a few seconds, then try again until the mode I wanted turned back on. For a $1000 computer I would expect a lot more than what I got. It looks nice but DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP.

Don't Do It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OMG, where to start....well I love ASUS stuff, buy it all the time, but this was a nightmare. I bought it for my 11 year old for Christmas along with another ASUS model for my son. His was up and running and playing and giggling in like 30 min. 8 hours later I am still fighting with this stupid machine to open up more than one program at a time, I timed it, it took chrome 30 seconds to open and even then it was unusable. I should have known the instant it froze trying to load the very first screen that ASUS throws at you when windows boots. Tried windows update and it had fits so I factory reset the whole rig figuring there isn't anything to lose since nothing is installed yet, same problems. I will be taking my heartbroken daughter and this expensive anchor to Best Buy to return tomorrow. And just to let everybody know, I used to do this for a living so I am not a novice when it comes to this stuff.

Great so far.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this computer for my wife for Christmas and decided to give it to her yesterday so she could test it out and use it early. I had none of the issues mentioned by previous reviewers. The machine started quickly, downloaded office quickly and runs fast. She is very excited about it. I have had an Asus for two years. Replaced the original drive with an SSD. It has been performing great.

Looks nice but insanely slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this yesterday because my Surface Pro 3 died on me and I needed a new computer to run Adobe After Effects and Ableton Live 10. I haven't even installed those programs yet because the laptop takes forever to start up and alternate between apps. It's ridiculous that I cannot open Chrome, then hit the windows button to open One Note in less than 5 seconds. My Surface was i7 with 8GB of ram and could do that no problem. I see some people saying it's Windows 10 update but I seriously doubt it. How is it my surface is up to date with the latest updates and was faster than this? Super disappointed, it takes literally more than 20 seconds to load up any major website and forget about having multiple internet windows open. With these specs on the computer, I expect lightning fast results. I also have no clue as to why the disk is at 100% the entire time. As another review mentioned, I can have the computer doing nothing and it will still be maxed out. I'll be going to Best Buy to have Geek Squad take a look at it before I return it, but if nothing improves significantly I will be exchanging it for something better.

Not the best laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for College. I didn't have problems at the beginning but as time went on the computer was very slow when it came to loading anything especially when I just turned it on. And after every Windows update, it crashes. Overall would not recommend it. It doesn't have the best battery life and it is kind of heavy.

First and Last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first Asus product purchase and it will definitely be my last. This computer was purchased Cyber Monday 2018. It ran fairly swift for approximately 1.5 months. It is extremely slow which is hard to believe considering the components. It was meant to replace my Toshiba Satellite that is literally falling apart. Needless to say I have found myself using my Toshiba because, despite it coming apart, it still processes faster than my new Asus with all the bells and whistles. The biometric reader (fingerprint scanner) also failed. Luckily I diagnosed the problem and was able to correct it. I am not a tech junkie, but I can work out some kinks (thank goodness). It is still frustrating to have a computer that runs slow AND needs corrective action within 90 days of purchase. If this computer was an employee, it would be fired. Too bad I missed the return by date. I would have gladly taken it back. It looks nice, but that is where it ends.

Posted .Dear CHSimsRN,
I do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance with the laptop. Certainly, the unit was designed as an entry-level computer that runs basic and light computing applications like web-surfing, emailing and word-processing without compromising system stability and performance. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to help.

Lackluster
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop to serve as both my school laptop and a gaming laptop. It was recommended by a sales associate because of the GTX inside. The hard drive is dog trash. It couldn't keep 8 fps consistent if its life were dependent on it. I wish I would have been smarter, not been distracted by the touchscreen and gone with the MSI. I'd be much happier now. Though, all this being said, it may be the flashiest presi maker I've ever seen. It is a mid beast when it comes to that. I'm pretty sure Chromebooks are too. Even the i7 in this is asseous.

Posted .Dear Mike,
Indeed, the product is a good recommendation for both school and gaming. Although it was not designed for gaming it does support popular games. I do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance with the laptop. The hardrive is adequate enough to run WINDOWS OS efficiently.
