A: Not going to crack the lid to take a pic but as a computer tech, trust me when I say that it does indeed have a sata connection and does support sata ssd but if I can give you another option which is MUCH better, don't swap hard drives but instead get an NVMe M.2 drive and install it and make it your boot drive and use the 2TB spinner as bulk storage for videos or pictures etc. Here's the one I installed and, trust me, it's by far the best plan : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 To be precise, there is only one sata connector inside but if you take advantage of the M.2 slot with an NVMe drive you will be VERY happy you went that route.
Q: Can I add to the 2 terabyte HDD a 1tb or smaller SSD?
A: While it does only have a single SATA connector, it DOES have an M.2 NVMe slot. Go to Amazon and pick up a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) for $116, snap it into it's slot, install windows on it and format your 2TB drive for bulk storage. You will be astounded at how this thing performs with that simple upgrade.
Q: Does his model have a built in read/write DVD? How long will it run on a charge?
A: No, this laptop does not have a built-in DVD/CD drive. The computer runs 6 hours on charge.
Q: Could I upgrade the hard drive to an SSD?
A: Yes you can upgrade to an SSD
Q: How long is the battery life ? Can you use it in the dark?
A: You can use it in the dark, either in tablet mode, or the keyboard can be backlit (Function+F3 to make it brighter). I get about 4 hours of use, before the low battery warning, with the screen brightness at a comfortable level and using performance mode. If you scale things back to recommended settings you'll likely get more life. Four hours of heavy use is about all my brain can stand, anyhow.
A: You have to remove the bottom cover than the 1 slot is available for upgrade under the metal cover next to the m.2 adapter.
A: I did not have to make any BIOS changes. I put the M.2 drive in and it showed up as an option when I started a fresh/clean install of Windows 10. I didn't even have to force it to boot from the USB drive for the install. I created an install USB from the Microsoft website and it even self-activated my install - no phone call to Microsoft needed. The performance upgrade is quite impressive!
Q: What about the video and sound card?
A: This laptop has an integrated video and uses Harman/Kardon stereo speakers.
