    Horrible Computer/Hard drive Speed Inefficient

    I bought this computer for the 2tb hard for storage for running Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. First hard drive I had on this computer crashed leaving me with missing photos. This computer is constantly at the 100% disk usage with any program running. Yes it may be adequate to have the windows 10 OS but don't plan on running more than 1 app at a time... The Intel 620 graphics processor lacks. Just reset the computer and still same issues. I would never buy this computer again... Waste of money.

      I do understand your disappointment and inconvenience if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance with the laptop. Certainly, the unit was designed to run popular computing applications without compromising system stability and performance. If cumulative WINDOWS Update were installed and PC Reset or factory restore didn't work, this is a hardware related issue. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.     I'm DONE with Asus. Nothing but trouble.

    So, I purchased this model in November of 2018. The motherboard has already failed once, had to send it in for warranty service because it wouldn't even boot to BIOS. When it came back, the touchpad didn't work (although eventually, with the CORRECT sequence of driver deletions and installs, I fixed it), the keyboard illumination doesn't work, and the speakers don't work. After spending 6 hours between my own efforts and working with two different techs between three chat sessions, the only option I have is to SEND IT BACK AGAIN. This is my second major Asus failure in a year, and my second Best Buy laptop purchase to have a catastrophic failure within months of purchase. So yeah, come to think of it, I'm done with Best Buy, too.

    Be Aware

    Two things you need to be aware of if you buy this laptop. 1) It is unusable with the supplied hard drive...you will need to upgrade to a SSD to get adequate performance...would it have been too much, ASUS, to at least build with a hybrid drive? 2) From a practical standpoint, if you are going to use this laptop for work or school or anything else important, it has no warranty. The touch screen on mine cracked and the local Best Buy let me know that it must be shipped back to ASUS for repair with an expected turn-around time of 5 WEEKS. If your work doesn't permit that kind of down time, you are out of luck because they won't sell the parts to have the repair done locally.

      I certainly understand your dissatisfaction with the performance of the hardrive, your concern regarding the screen being cracked and service or repair process time. The hardrive is adequate to run WINDOWS efficiently without compromising speed or performance, Definitely, upgrading to a SSD will improve or enhance system performance. ASUS doesn’t warranty cracked screen. Any screen, regardless of the brand name, is breakable if the unit was dropped at an awkward angle or was not handled with care. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.     Purchased 3 months ago buyer beware

    My wife is a professor and full time student, we thought we did adequate research and made a good purchase. She needs something reliable. She basically uses it for email and writing papers in Microsoft Word. The computer is hardly used to its potential and is very gently used. Within the 1st month started having issues with the screen. During her winter break we had it sent in since the screen was no longer working. It was repaired and returned to us barely on time for the start of her next semester. We have now had it back for two weeks and the mouse cursor and touchpad is no longer working. Thankfully, the work around is the touch screen which is working at the moment. We are very disappointed with the purchase and the inconvenience of having to deal with a broken down machine that needs to be sent back to the manufacturer once again. That is not an option right now since she is in the very beginning of the semester. This is our first ASUS and I would not recommend it.

    Really slow after wonderful Windows update

    Hard drive ran REALLY SLOW pretty quickly after purchasing (same day). I am gonna blame a Windows 10 update. Even after the update was complete, it was painfully slow and disk was running repeatedly at 100% while sitting there doing nothing. Wanted to like it due to other great specs but just could not. Returned and purchased the slightly cheaper sibling of this model instead which is running well. Probably just a fluke but not gonna waste time trying to fix a brand new machine.

    I purchased this laptop in early January of 2019 for the start of my college life, thinking it would run well for my homework and programming and playing some games on the side, I was wrong on all fronts. About one month into owning it it started to have disk problems, saying there was 100% disk when nothing was using more than 4 MB/s. This only happened a few times a day and I just had to deal with it, but recently it's been having days where it's at 100% disk the whole time, and it takes about 20 minutes just to start up and have the disk go below 80% now. It is very slow whenever I'm trying to do basic programming using bluejay and can very barely run a game called Final Fantasy 14, with is an 8 and a half year game, that barely takes anything to run. I recommend spending some extra money and getting a higher quality laptop, it may seem bad to spend so much money but you'll get your worth out of other laptops and won't have to groan every time you try to start up this one.

      Certainly, the laptop is perfect for homework, programming and some light gaming. I do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance and 100% hardrive utilization. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Also, clearing internet cache or browsing history will improve system performance. regarding the 100% utilization on the hardrive , this will usually occur when the laptop is under heavy load when WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan, or malware are running in the background. To resolve the issue, try doing a full system scan using an internet security, or an antivirus software to get rid of malware, just in case the system was compromised. If WINDOWS Update or antivirus is running in the background, do not run any applications. Since these applications utilize lots of system resources, the laptop will become unresponsive or slow whiles are running.If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be happy to help.

    slow because of HDD. painfully slow.

    this computer was okay in speed when it was brand new. approx 6 months later it got super slow suddenly. there are days when it is painfully useless. I have to use my work computer because of the amount of frustration it gives me. I ran all possible diagnostics techniques I can find on the internet but no help. I even reset and installed again hoping that it might help it speed things up. but again that did not help either. finally, now I have decided to buy a new laptop. this was a total waste of $1,200. stay away from any laptop that comes with HDD not SSD and run windows. windows and HDD are not a good combination. you'll regret. folllwo my advice.

    battery life

    I bought this because the salesman told me it was a GREAT buy and would be fast.well its not fast it is slower then my old 2in1 asus and the battery life is terrible.Im constantly having to charge it, Im very disappointed with this Asus Q525 its a very poor 2in1 .

Certainly, the unit was designed as a performance computer that runs popular computing applications without compromising system stability and performance. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized.     Very very disappointed!

    This is a terribly slow and inefficient computer, all the time it gets stuck and programs crashes. I wanted to replace a 9 years old computer but, incredibly, that computer works better than this one! WINDOWS Update is not a help. I have installed LINUX on this computer and the problems persist. So, this is not a temporary issue as ASUS staff claims. This was a total waste of money. I don't know what I'm going to do with this machine but, for sure, I will never purchase another ASUS computer again.

With the latest generation i7 processor and 16GB of RAM this device should not have any problems as it relates to performance.     Key Board sucks

    They made the keyboard a little smaller and the numeric keypad is not like the rest. The main change on it is the enter key is in the place of the period key. Now I have to break muscle memory to use it correctly. That is really difficult since I work on a computer all day that is normal and only use this at home.
