    Great Laptop : Great Specs

pro's This is a great gamer laptop, featuring win7, great hardware and asus support. I did lots of research, and found that for gamer laptops you want the 7200RPM hard drive, geforce260M with Gddr ram. I also found that you want windows 7, which works great, so much better then XP. I play world of warcraft, and I can report that will all settings ultra, I can play with no video lag at all. They did a great job with the heat on this thing, It is only warm where the vent blows the air out. I found the HDMI out is great, to run to my samsung 24 inch monitor, so this laptop really is a desktop replacement. The best thing about this thing is, if you have a lan party you can just pick it up and go, and with the back lit keyboard it has, you don't even need to bring a keyboard. For the price I paid however, I could not be happier with my purchase. The only way to do better then this device is to spend 2k+. con's The sound on this box is 2.1, so for you 7.x guys this may not be what you want. I run the HDMI video out of the laptop into a larger Samsung 24 inch monitor but I can not do 1080p resolution... I wish the native resolution was larger on dedicated laptop monitor, the resolution is not very impressive at all. About ASUS I love the way they set this hardware up. It feels clean and easy to use. Asus tech support is great too, call them up, speak to an english speaking person who knows how to help. Wireless Card I had to call tech support about the wireless card. Don't worry... Just know this, if you turn on/off the wireless using the hardware switch, you also have to turn on the wireless in the software. Function key then F2 ( the little wireless icon is on the key ) click the little icon that appears on the screen, and your wireless turns on. I called tech support they taught me how, and I was on my way, can't ask for more then that.

    Excellent Choice

This machine is great for what I am doing (gaming/school work). My last laptop overheated a lot and this doesn't come close. Its idle GPU temp maintains at 50 - 60 c. which I think is good. (I don't have fans kicking on that sound like a jet engine while playing Fallout 3). Out of box it idled between 65 - 70 degrees but I installed the video drivers mentioned in an 80 page review on a web forum. My first G60 had an issue where the headphone jack sensors got broke so it thought there were always headphones plugged in... this resulted in no sound out of the laptop's speakers. Best Buy allowed me to either send it in for repair or exchange it with no questions asked... I exchanged it and this one has no problems that I can see. The graphics are great. It can handle many graphic intensive games. I'm excited to finally have a reliable machine for school. If it handles all games throw at it then school work (reports, spreadsheets, videos, etc...) will be no problem. Yes, the other reviews are correct, the built in speakers don't put out very good sound. When I am at school I use headphones and when I am at home I plug in external speakers so I don't ever notice. I think the lack in sound is well worth the price/quality/graphics/performance.

Great gaming laptop for the money!

This is the first dedicated gaming machine I've owned. My brother has built many computers over the years with Asus motherboards and he thinks very highly of them. I researched the Asus laptops for quite some time. All the online reviews, opinions of salespeople as well as owners said one thing: Asus makes a great machine. I totally agree! This thing is a rocket ship. It's a lot of computer for the money. Two large hard drives! It is very nice having a hard drive competely separate from the OS. The computer is a tad heavy, though, but I knew it would be. The finish on the shell is very neat looking but is also easily soiled by fingerprints. Don't waste your time on the facial recognition login method. It's very slow and half the time would not even recognize my face, so I turned off that feature. All in all, I'm extremely happy with this computer.

    Awesome Laptop

Overall a really good laptop. I stepped down from an older 17" XPS for this mainly for the portability. It weighs almost half as much as my old beast and yet can play all the same games even better. Just wish they could've squeezed a bit more resolution out of the screen. Only negative I have noticed is that it can get a bit hot. But with my cooling pad I haven't had any over heating issues as of yet. Also, it's kind of cool that you can set it up to log you in securely by taking a snap shot of your face with the webcam.

I opened this laptop and was very happy! Even better than what I expected! Great laptop, slick and fast, and best of all windows 7 actually works and works well! But few things that sucked, portability.....the worst! It huge, heavy and very bulky. Not only that 2 hour battery life?? That's not a laptop, sorry. But....and yes there is a big BUT!! This laptop rocks!! The graphics are flawless, and the best pat is it doesn't get that hot. Now I never had it on my lap, but there is no worry about it freezing while playing any game. Laptop will make heads turn, for the price...you can't go wrong if you the type that will keep it plugged in all the time and game. Also you have to get the Best Buy warranty, ASUS DOES NOT COVER ACCIDENTAL IF YOU BUY FROM BEST BUY!!

I bought this mainly to run photoshop and use as my workstation as a photographer. No lag time running any filters or adjusting multiple RAW camera files. I have never been a video gamer, but recently installed Crysis Warhead and it runs great and is a blast to play, already addicted to it. I bought this one mainly for the faster processor and larger hard drive as well as larger battery over the smaller Asus available in the store.

It runs all the new games smoothly... Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, GTA IV, The Saboteur, Prince of Persia and many others worked smoothly.... The design, lights and keyboard are amazing... However, it shows fingerprints and is a little heavy.. It does not get very much hot and it cools very fast. The quality is great... Asus Rocks... This "Republic of Gamers" Laptop is a great replacement for a desktop....

I spent a month looking for a good Laptop and at first seeing this i wasn't so sure with ASUS because Ive never heard of them as much as the other big companies like Gateway, Dell, etc, but I'm really satisfied with my purchase Laptop was a nice and easy setup. I was looking for a Laptop to play these games like a beast, and it truly is. The keyboard has a nice and solid feel to it. Its just amazing i would recommend it.

    Great Components for the Price

As stated in the pros and cons, this laptop has a lot for the money. The processor, GPU, 2 320 Hard Drives, 4 GB Ram (Only DDR2, but works just fine), backlit keyboard, etc... The list goes on. So far this has worked great for me. My only concern is the GPU runs quite hot at times...even when just surfing the web. This can be minimized by downloading updated drivers and monitoring software to keep an eye on things. I believe this is a common issue with many gaming laptops so it's not really that much of a bother. All in all a great laptop for the price.

This lap top is used mostly for gaming on line, which is why this particular brand with it's cards was picked. Like it very much and has performed just as I wanted. The graphics are great...but really should of gotten a bigger screen, I have the sixteen inch.

It's not a bad machine - a little pricey, but not bad. Right now, my only complaint is that the wireless adapter just went out on me for no apparent reason and won't restore itself. Before that happened, though, it was a pretty versatile piece of equipment.

This computer has a lot of nice features for the price. The only downfall would be resolution is not as high as I would like, but it still looks great for games and movies.
