If you get lucky and avoid QC issues, this is a 5 star, excellent, unmatched for the value product. It just might take a few tries. The performance is truly insane. There is a known issue that without a thing called a MUX switch, (turns off the integrated graphics completely and routes the screen directly to the GPU), and bad stock RAM, we are leaving performance on the table. The lack of MUX can be circumvented by using an external monitor through the USB C port on the back of the device, and the ram is replaceable. However, even with both of these known issues, there is NO better deal in gaming laptops. I also personally find the build quality much nicer than the Zephyrus G15, which is supposedly the nicer, classier device of the two. Although I think it looks much nicer, this laptop actually feels sturdy enough to put in a bag. The battery life is actually insane. It's kinda funny that the best battery life gaming laptop right now is this moderate chungus of a lad. I get about 7-8 hours on a full charge of web browsing and video watching. Battery when gaming is laughable as ever. The keyboard, screen, and trackpad are all very much above average. You'll find a better trackpad in a Macbook, a better keyboard uh, also probably in a Macbook, and a nicer screen in the Asus Zephyrus G15. However, given the build quality of Macbooks, and that amazing screen on the Zephyrus G15 (which is supposedly someday coming to this laptop), that shows the bar is pretty high. This laptop really does feel so much nicer than most gaming laptops I've felt. It's relatively classy, relatively light, and relatively thin for being a desktop replacement-power level device. I had to get one unit and return it due to INSANE coil whine. On unit 2, very slight coil whine and praying it stays that slight because I freaking love this laptop. I hope when you get yours, you are blessed in the QC lottery.

Ironically writing this review on this laptop right now. It is a great machine, and has handled every game I've thrown at it. I also use it for school as I'm a computer science major. I upgraded the RAM to 32gb, but I only did this because I thought I had bad RAM (actually was a corrupted driver from a bad windows 11 update). The battery life is great for a gaming laptop, I can get around 6 hours normal use, but if you plan on gaming, have your charger nearby, but that's normal.

When I purchased the unit as open box excellent there were a few things that could've been better. There was a screw missing from the bottom of the chassis. The second NvMe SSD drive slot was missing the screw. The sticker for the vapor cooling / liquid metal was removed...I'm assuming someone reapplied liquid metal. The second ribbon for the light bar on the right side was unplugged. The 280w power brick makes a bad buzzing sound whenever power use is over 100w. Despite all these issues I'm actually enthralled with it and the performance. I've fixed the previous issues and Best Buy is making it right with actually reimbursing me for getting a replacement 280w brick. I would strongly recommend any open box item you buy to get at least a 1 year warranty so if anything was broken or missed you can get it replaced at no charge. I would also recommend getting a DDR4 3200mhz 1rx8 16gb dual channel kit or 3200mhz 2xr8 32gb dual channel kit (this one actually does a little better) I would also pick up a USB type C (displayport 1.4) to HDMI 2.0b converter so you can signal out at 4K 60hz. This will bypass the integrated graphics and give you a considerable increase in performance as well. Combine this with the ram and it's going from a solid mobile RTX 3060 to a mobile RTX 3080 contender. Next thing I would do is pick up a decent NvME SSD Gen 3 secondary drive (EVO 980/970 EVO plus or WD SN750 best performance) 1-2TB and for a little extra money this thing will walk circles around the best units of 2021.

Fast, powerful, amazing price! No issues with this computer yet. Performs really well. Temps get up there but is well dispersed. The keyboard stays incredibly cool under heavy loads. You cannot beat the price to performance on this setup. AMD is really bringing on the competition. Battery life is unbelievable. Solid 9-10 hours of video playback. Only gripe is the 512 GB storage.

The looks, the performance, the quality, I loved it. I am not a gamer but when it gets to computers I need to have a fast and functional computer that fits my needs, and gaming laptops and computers do very well for me. I am going to go into the great features of this laptop, because they are endless, however I will mention the few areas where Asus failed to make this the perfect laptop, especially for the price. I know many say it has great feature and a great value for the money but I tend to disagree in some areas. First, I can’t understand why a laptop of this caliber comes with Windows 10 Home, that to me is a huge disappointment and a deal barker. It’s very important to have the networking features of Windows and many other advantages that the Pro version has over the Home. Second issue, if this is considered a gaining laptop why not put the best memory possible for such a PC so that the user doesn’t have mess with it? I know, everyone will say “well, it’s to keep the price down”. Please don’t give me that. Third, in the day and age of data accumulation 512GB drive is chum change. Something like a WD Black 1TB is what’s needed here. I know “it’s to keep the price down”. Forth, I knew that this laptop didn’t have a webcam and this is one thing that I thought I can do without, without complains, but very quickly learned that it’s very different on a laptop and a webcam is a must to gain that freedom expected from it. $1650 is not cheap for a laptop, and I do love what Asus has done with this laptop, so many excellent features, the cooling is amazing, but man, if the things I have mentioned Asus had incorporated the into this laptop, there would be nothing that could be said or faulted, and there would be no laptop in the market, at least to me that could have touched it at that price point. Oh, one more thing, I took advantage of my 10% off for new Best Buy card/account holders as a welcome, however, when I returned the laptop I asked the lady manager if the 10% is still valid for my future purchase of a laptop, and she said no, it’s only good for one purchase, with an attitude…….I couldn’t argue with her, just not in the mood, but if that’s the case then why do need a Best buy. I have made many purchases at BB, out of necessity not because I like them, my experiences have mostly been very negative and it all has to do with their management and employees.

I was hesitant when purchasing due to all of the controversy surrounding Asus’s choice of cooling (liquid metal). I am so glad that I took a chance and received a model with a serial number starting with M8 (I have checked the RAM and it has timings and secondary timings that are equal to the cruical brand that people have been recommending.) . I bought this for my wife to use for productivity and VR gaming. We have a valve index and aside from having to purchase a DisplayPort to usb-c adapter, the experience has been flawless. The laptop has been working better than expected so far and the gpu really can keep up with just about everything we throw at it. I’m having no problems pushing 144 or 120hz on the valve index. We have owned multiple gaming laptops in the past and I have never seen a laptop be dead silent during productivity tasks and an acceptable level while gaming. The only upgrade that we have planned is an additional 1TB NVME drive that will slide in nicely next to the existing 512gb drive. I believe the battery life is also spectacular for something with a dedicated gpu (although we didn’t purchase this for battery life). If anyone has questions I will try and respond to the best of my knowledge. All in all, I would definitely recommend this G15 advantage edition to anyone who has a similar use case to ours.

Its a solid product with some flaws. I noticed many people where complaining about liquid metal killing GPUs so I decided to check my laptop and noticed that it barely had any, it had a good job but the rubber that protects the liquid metal from spilling had a small fissure that it was just a time bomb. I removed the liquid metal TIM and used GC Gelid Xtreme and the temperature dropped by around 2-4C, not much of a difference but noticed the fans were silent more often and the turbo on the GPU was more consistent. Also noticed that my product was advertised as Open Box (Excellent Condition), yet the cooling fans had a LOT but a LOT of dust like if they were abused. Also noticed that the battery got stuck at around 60% when charging and wouldn't go above that, just updated the BIOS from the Asus official site and got rid of that problem. Now gives me up to 10 hours of battery life in light use. The performance is stellar and the thermals are ok (CPU around 82-95C in worse case scenario) GPU around 82-87C in worst case scenario. The sound quality is amazing with 4-Watts Speakers and carry a good punch. The display is very bright but needs some calibration as white points tends to look too blue for my likes, nothing that using Windows builtin calibration tool to kill the color shades on the gray bars won't fix. Overall its a good product, lightweight, powerful and versatile but needs some little help to iron its minor quirks. I came from a Helios 500 laptop with a Ryzen 2700 and a Vega 56 and the performance gains on the CPU are at around 25-40% but in games, between 40% and twice the performance gain, of course at the expense of higher power as the CPU is slightly more power frugal but the GPU boosts up to 170W quite often, compared to the Vega 56 which stays rock solid at 120W.

ASUS FIXED ISSUES ITS THE BEST LAPTOP IN THE WORLD

SKIP to BELOW to learn how this laptop performed FLAWLESSLY in a 90F room on FULL LOAD for the CPU for hours with Davinci Resolve and then Full Load on the GPU with Diablo 2 resurrected AND IT NEVER THROTTLED ON FULL LOAD EVEN IN A 90F DEGREE ROOM! THIS IS THE BEST LAPTOP COOLING ON THE PLANET! This will be very useful for people worrying about getting a "bad GPU" laptop. I did extensive research before buying and was fully aware of the possibility of a GPU issue. That is what happened to me, I bought a laptop, it game with a XBOX game pass and I activated that and used triple A games to PUSH THE GPU TO ITS LIMIT! I played games on a wide variety of temperatures, at 65f, 75F, 85F etc....On the 12th day, I was playing Destiny when the room temperature was 87F in the room, and the GPU DIED. The laptop turned off and refused to turn on. Luckily, I was within the 15 day window (Bestbuy should have a 30 day window for this laptop) and I returned it for a full refund, I got FULL bestbuy points, about 800, even after getting a refund, I got to keep the xbox pass games for a month AND lucky for me, when I went to buy the laptop again it was 150 DOLLARS OFF! So then I bought it for only 1,499 NEW, Never buy this laptop openbox... many of those are old versions with GPU problems. The NEW Laptop I got is GODLY! Before I explain how awesome it is, let me explain something about this industry. The first version of this laptop did have GPU issues, and since this laptop was supposed to show off Asus AND AMD tech, I am confident they put pressure on the manufacturers to make sure that the GPU issues stopped, they probably did more thorough testing because as you can see, Almost every recent review now is a GOOD one. TLDR: buy one, test it out thoroughly in a high temperature room using the free xbox game pass so you can be sure its a Good one, and if it isn't, just return it for a refund, keep the bestbuy points and buy it again, until you get a GODLY one! The next laptop I got, I tested it even harder than before. I used it in a 94f to 85F temperature room for two weeks! I used the Diablo 2 Beta to PUSH the GPU to its max, this specific game makes your GPU run at FULL load nonstop. I was getting 45 to 60FPS in my boiling hot AC-free room, on 4K at MAX SETTINGS! The ONLY time it throttle was in performance mode or turbo mode, and FPS would drop to like 5-10fps for 2 seconds. Then I put the laptop to Manual and even in my hot room, the GPU and the CPU NEVER THROTTLED AT ALL even after lengthy gaming sessions. That is unbelievable considering laptops should NEVER be run in such hot rooms, I just wanted to make sure this laptop had a GPU that worked well. The laptop was pushed in the same way in the same hot room for long periods of time processing 4k videos at max load and the CPU stayed between 4.2 to 3.9 GHZ the whole time!! This laptop DID shut off ONCE, but it was a software bug that later software patches fixed. I was in a 77F room and I just turned on the laptop and opened the chrome browser and then the laptop shut off! It wasn't even hot! So I thought, that's odd, in high temperatures on HIGH load, it never shut down or throttled. So, then I read a review on bestbuy of this same laptop and someone said his laptop had also shutdown for no reason, but after getting the latest windows update, it never happened again. So I looked for updates, installed the latest windows laptop and BAM! No more shutdowns ever again! This is the KING OF LAPTOPS. THE BEST LAPTOP IN THE WORLD because.... 1. It has the BEST laptop cooling system in the world! 2. It has the Best Price/performance ratio of any laptop in the world (which means its by far your best bang for your buck) One reviewer even pointed out that if you got similar equipment in a pc it would provide the same performance ratio, but the laptop is a better value because it comes with a mouse, screen, keyboard and portability. 3. And this is one of the most powerful laptops in the world THANK YOU ASUS AND AMD! SLAM DUNK! THIS IS THE BEST LAPTOP BUY IN HISTORY!!! (just double check your GPU is Godly, not broken before the 15 day return period is gone)

I had to return the first one as it had an entire column of dead pixels (a major advantage of buying from BestBuy is how easy returns are). I haven't had an issue with the second one after 2 weeks. The keyboard deck has a nice soft matte feel and stays cool/comfortable no matter how hard the laptop is running. Screen is amazing in accuracy and brightness ranges from "so bright it hurts my eyes" to "so dark I can't see it". All the RGB lighting is fully customizable so I have mine set to off, much like the startup noise. The performance is amazing, benchmarking between the 3070m and 3080m with the 6800m. The 5900HX is simply the best, most efficient thing out there. Stays silent except for the most demanding of tasks and you can choose to limit performance (at about 75% of max) to keep noise down to near silent or unleash the kraken of full noisy performance with one button on the keyboard to cycle through performance profiles. You can set power usage limits for the CPU and the system overall, unfortunately you cannot adjust the power limits for the GPU specifically but limiting total power does so reasonably. I would still have preferred the ability to limit the GPU without also limiting the CPU. The only bad thing about this laptop is the RAM. It's not as good as it could be and worse yet the BIOS locks and hides the XMP/DOCP memory clocking adjustments which limits what you can get as a replacement. If Asus allowed tinkering with the RAM clocking I'd have bought a 32Gb replacement set by now.

I've been using this laptop since June 2021. It exceeded my expectations hardware-wise running everything on high or ultra. BF2042, Microsoft flight sim, Forza 5, and so on. All AAA titles should run high on this setup for a couple of years. I've also added an external gaming monitor via USB-C to the Display port to take advantage of a direct connection to the dedicated RX 6800M graphic card. I also added another 1 TB SSD and will add more ram in the future as Asus use low-performance RAM. This laptop outperforms my colleague RTX 3060 Max-P higher wattage that costs a little bit more. It does run hot around 90-degree Celsuis on ultra on AAA title. I have it set up on a stand for more airflow and it's been good. Best value and performance for this price.

This laptop is fantastic, BUT I did have some QC issues. I went through two laptops before settling on my current one. The previous two had some backlight bleed issues. Best Buy took them back without issue. Like many others I replaced the RAM with an upgrade. I also replaced the SSD, although the stock 500GB is plenty fast. The computer now runs Resident Evil Village at almost 300 frames on max settings (minus ray tracing). This laptop is a portable powerhouse. I was an all NVIDIA person before going to this and it's making me seriously question my choices for desktop gaming. At current this laptop runs better than my desktop setup (10th gen i7, NVIDA 2070 S, 32gb RAM, Asus 590 Mobo). Worth the buy at $1650!

The ASUS - ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition 15.6" FHD Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9-5900HX - 16GB Memory - Radeon RX 6800M - 512GB SSD is a high-performance gaming laptop that offers a sleek design, powerful hardware, and a vibrant display. I will start by saying I absolutely did not need to purchase a gaming laptop. I just didn't. I already have a desktop with a 144hz/1440p screen, Ryzen 5800X and 6800XT, 64GB of RAM.. Totally ludicrous. I started with benchmarking. Futuremark was first recognizing the GPU as a full fat 6700 XT desktop GPU. Even then it was still scoring high out of the box. Doing some Unigine benchmarks to compare to other configurations out there proved that the horsepower is here and ready to go. Primarily I game on COD Modern Warfare and Warzone. To say it lightly, the experience is gorgeous and fluid. Much like on my desktop, I run with basically all maxed out settings and it's running great. I have a very small amount of backlight bleed, but I still only really play on the built-in screen. I know the drawbacks - and it doesn't bother me at all. Now getting to a frequently discussed improvement that needs to be made with these. The RAM and SSD that comes included. My unit did not come with the usual Samsung branded DIMMs that I've seen reviewers online posting about. My unit came with Micron 1Rx8 sticks. Really not sure how they pulled that one off, but I'm thankful I didn't need to upgrade. I took out the poultry 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD and exchanged in my 2TB HP EX950 NVMe SSD I already owned. A quick clone from the old to the new and I haven't had to look back. Overall, I have ZERO complaints about this. I waited for a while to post the review to be sure of it. I'm gonna have to buy my girlfriend now... oops!

The laptop, while fast when working, had to be severely undervolted for it to perform at any sort of functional level for gaming. The base fan settings, even at max, could not keep my Laptop below 100°C without thermal throttling and ruining the gaming experience. This is no doubt a quality assurance problem, rather than an issue with the laptop itself. Having written this review two years of owning this product, it has had several crashes, heat issues, power surges, you name it. In short, when it works, it works well. But do to several QA problems, it is up to chance whether or not the machine wishes to cooperate.

Pros - Excellent speakers for a laptop - Incredible performance for the money. - Great battery life, easily getting up to 10 hours +/- of light usage - Comfortable keyboard - User upgradable memory and storage Cons - Screen, while it has good uniformity, doesn’t achieve very high levels of brightness. - Keyboard backlight flicker was quite noticeable, especially in darker rooms. - Trackpad was wobbly, felt like there was a double click going on. - Screen seemed crooked as if the hinge wasn’t giving it enough support to stay straight. - RAM timings are poor, would highly recommend swapping out for a faster kit to improve performance. - No webcam - Overall quality control seems mediocre.

This laptop was the dream for me, great screen, good gpu and cpu, excellent battery life, voltage and fan control, and we arent limited to sautured ram on the motherboard. literally all ive been looking for this past year. After a few weeks ive noticed some issues, one being that the bezzel surrounding my panel at the top is very loose and would have a click sound if touched. 2nd issue is during game play, i experience fps drops during game play, this occurs more frequent if i minimize my game to check stuff on my desktop real quick it will occur and not change bak. 3rd issue is the gpu. I get random crashes during game play and the card will spike in heat up to 90c at times and cpu touching 100 This laptop could be one of the best but the qc issues asus have are horrible. I bet il get some generated bs response. Id really wanna recommend this laptop but until the issues are fixed, i cant. Going to try out the new omen with a 6600

Very well constructed, battery life is very impressive. Not as heavy as I anticipated, but feels very sturdy. Excellent track pad and AMAZING performance. I was concerned that I'd have a dead GPU like everyone else, but the performance has been seamless. Would highly recommend if you're like me and you've been out of the high end PC world for some time! Such a bargain compared to NVIDIA's offerings for the same price.

Honestly surprised how well it runs out of the box. Read a few reviews that it needs a ram upgrade to get the full benefit but i hardly notice a few percent of performance. Great performance out of the 6800m. I will say you will need a storage upgrade if you plan on installing warzone lol. But that's no surprise. The battery life on the go is surprisingly good for a gaming laptop, better than my old gl503vs that its replacing that's for sure. Highly recommend.

Guide on First set up / boot. Once on desktop screen first thing to do is *create a restore point!; you have to do this every time before you update an app and after a restart. [NOTE]: * = creating a restore point. Now onto the update stuffs Update: *Armoury Crate > *MyAsus > *Download AMD Drivers (amd.com/support) > *Windows Update > *Microsoft Store Once everything is up to date and on final restart, search the following to test: ufo test (testufo.com) dead pixel test (https://lcdtech.info/en/tests/dead.pixel.htm) backlight bleed test (lightbleedtest.com) if everything checks out, then congrats! you got a good unit! P.S. you might be asking why create a restore point every time before you update an app. - its just incase you receive a bad unit (hopefully not) and it crashes mid update. - I'm also one of the people that ordered on day one / received the first batch and received a bad unit. second unit is fine. As for Performance there's a lot of reviews already but to make it short this GPU beats the 3070 and sometimes trade blows with 3080 (without the NVIDIA stuffs like DLSS) as for the CPU this is the best CPU out there at the moment, this is a Ryzen 9 with HX on the end! As for Upgradability your in luck! the ram isn't soldered like most laptops! that's a major plus! meaning you can upgrade both ram and upgrade the ssd! and for those wondering, yes this is the best bang for the buck laptop! CPU Performance + GPU Performance + Unsoldered Ram! + RGB (If you're into rgb) As for the cons most reviews mentioned already: No Webcam Slow Ram And No Mux Switch
