I love this laptop! Faulty ram was an easy fix, and even with the cost of new ram still outperforming anything of similar price range. I use it with my 2k 155hz display and its perfect for it. Getting 140fps on battlefield V on ultra, consistent 155fps on high. My CPU temps are in the 90s but i havent felt any throttling. I'm pretty sure the CPU can withstand up to like 97 before throttling. Overall great value, even after the ram upgrade! Would recommend to a friend

This laptop is sooo close to a perfect 5 stars. Performance is exceptional, battery life seems very respectable, screen, keyboard, trackpad, and speakers are all great. My only minor issues are with the lack of USB-C ports; one is really not enough in 2021, the SSD size, although there is a second M2 slot, and the utterly enormous power supply. This is a surprisingly svelte machine and ideal for throwing in a smallish bag, but the power supply is enormous and heavy. Other than that, I can't say I have any complaints and I'm loving using this so far. Games run smoothly on high quality, VR ran far better than I expected, and general PC stuff is very snappy.

Really powerful laptop. I thought this laptop cannot perform better than my rtx 3070 HP Omen 15. However, it plays everything without dropping fps. It has that power when you need it. When you don’t need it, it remains silent and cool to the touch. Here is my advice if you want to get this laptop: swap the SSD storage to something better with gen4 nvme ssd and swap the RAM to better one with low timings. You will be amazed how it outperforms rtx 3080 laptop. DO NOT OPEN THE CPU MODULE UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO REAPPLY LIQUID METAL. I have seen some reviews people say they cannot apply liquid metal. Guys it is sealed and as soon as you lift the heatsink module you will make a mess with liquid metal. Thermal performance is outstanding you don’t need to worry about it so please don’t open the CPU and GPU unit. You can swap the memory and ssd. This is everything you need to upgrade in this laptop

Great machine that could be even better with a little more effort (on your part now that the manufacturer dropped the ball). The RAM used in this machine is not optimized to maximize the beats of a GPU inside. With a little extra investment, you can be rocking a machine that goes toe to toe with some of the best gaming laptops available, for a drastically reduced price (further caveat being that you use an external monitor, because again the manufacturer dropped the ball and didn't provide a MUX switch that would allow the GPU to drive the laptop monitor directly). All said, still a great value gaming laptop that can compete with the best out there.

This is a nice machine. I purchased this after already having watched GizmoTechSlip's unboxing on YouTube where when he first booted it up, it didn't boot, and the viewers suggested holding the power down for 40 seconds. When he did that, it booted up and worked fine. Mine was the same way, and I think if I hadn't already seen that I would have panicked a bit when the laptop wouldn't turn on after tapping the power button. Performance-wise this thing works great. My only issue I've had is that I had wanted to output in 4k to my TV at times with it and I have had some issues getting that to work fully. Initially I wanted to do 4k 120hz so I bought a USB-C to HDMI 2.1 cable but that was a bit intermittent, it would cut in and out. I lowered it down to 4k60hz and it was better, but while watching a movie it was cutting in and out still, so I'm not sure what the issue is there. It could be the cable and not the laptop, and it's not my primary use case so I'm not that upset about it. A bit annoying though since it limits my options. I installed the Windows 11 Preview on the laptop I should also add, which could be a cause of the issue as well since that may have bugs. Other than that I like all the options that come with the Asus Armory Crate to enable or disable a lower refresh rate when plugged and unplugged, and also the battery-saver settings are easily configurable to extend the life of the battery. The display is brighter than the other ASUS strix laptop I own (144hz refresh on that one) and the Advantage Edition seems like a step up in every way compared to the other Asus Laptop that I have. I did upgrade the RAM to 32gb and it was a little tricky getting the bottom of the case off to access the internals. I ordered the Crucial RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz CL22 Laptop Memory CT2K16G4SFRA32A memory kit off Amazon. I'm not sure if it was the best choice for the money but at least it fit and works fine. Overall for the price I would recommend this laptop.

Being equiped with a Ryzen 9 5900H (~5700X) and a 6800M, this laptop can run with ease any task you give it. Great package for a great price. It can be improved with a RAM upgrade (with better timmings) and one aditional M2 storage. Beats by a mile my old pc with Vega64 and ryzen 7 3700X (without external monitor and stock ram). The only dissapointing part is the lack of a MUX switch.

When it comes to AMD combo, a laptop form or a road-legal vehicle is one of the best forms it can take, and this is no exception it adheres to the best all-AMD performance notebook the Advantage program can outstand. In my experience, this M5 batch was release in June, and I was able to snatch a clean quality unit out of the ones that were mentioned as lesser value in the rest of the batch group. This one.. absolutely smashed NUCs & most gaming notebooks out in the market today, in performance terms. Whenever I'm headed off for a domestic travel flight, it has a wonderful battery capacity & efficiency to last me about 5 hours of SolidWorks CAD simulations & design, 4 hours of music & 4K video editing, & recently about 4 hours of game design & simulations in Unity & blender. Beware of the missing key-features some enthusiast may be looking for, such as the MUX/Optimus function, Thunderbolt, wireless charge/NFC, stream webcam, HiFi speakers, per-key RGB, surface numpad, haptics, etc.; as this device lacks those, generally. I highly recommend this for those looking for a low-price starting purchase tag with many customary/aftermarket mods in mind to enhance this "out-of-factory beast" to its limits. I find it quite a treat to hop on-board gaming with its all-AMD pride & e-sports grade components after a long day at work. For PC enthusiasts, you will feel as if this can be a great switch from desktop to laptop during commute, for gamers looking to begin your first or few gaming notebook journey, this slick tool will give you the feeling as if you are in charge of all the raw power it will give you & the sheer ability to rocket-launch any program/source at clicking-speeds. Noobs beware, this is top grade machine, period.

This gaming laptop has probably the best performance to dollar ratio even against the mighty nvidia 30 series. It does get hot when you push it to the max but it will handle it. In terms of graphics I give it somewhere in the neighborhood of a 3070 but it does not have RTX. If you place games without that then this is the laptop for you.

Great Gaming Laptop, look out for thread Lock

The laptop is very fast and high performing. As was discussed in various other reviews, this laptop gets an ever greater performance boost by upgrading the RAM and expanding the storage to a faster NVMe SSD. The reason I docked a star was because ASUS thought it was a good idea to add thread lock to the small screws. This made it so that I stripped the screw when adding an additional SSD and had to struggle to remove the stripped screw. I had to go to a specialty screw shop to get a replacement because my local Best Buy doesn't carry the m.2 size screw.

I was looking for a portable, lightweight, gaming rig replacement with great battery life and had trouble finding one from the other manufacturers until I found this one. I know, lightweight, gaming machine that has great battery life, those words don't normally go together but this machine ticks all the boxes. I was hesitant at first because of all the thermal issues reported but I seem to have been lucky enough to get a good one. This laptop remains cool under load. It's fans do blast hot air and are a bit loud while gaming but with headphones on all the time, I can hear it at all (It's cool and silent when not gaming). When in silent mode, I get about 8-12 hours of battery life which is phenomenal for a gaming laptop and when on turbo mode, I get around a few hours but that's expected since the laptop is running full bore with all power saving features disabled. Love how versatile it is! One thing you want to do immediately after getting this laptop is either replace/upgrade the RAM. The included RAM is dual channel (two sticks) however their single rank modules with horrible subtimings (See online reviews). I purchased a kit of Kingston Impact Fury modules (FPSKF432S20IB1K2/32) which increased my FPS by 5-10 FPS in games. Other ways they cut costs (To make this laptop more of a value purchase) are by using a Mediatek WiFi 6 module (Not using a Premium Intel WiFi AX200/AX210 M.2 2230 module which I swapped out with the memory). Great laptop otherwise. Deserves 5 starts as your getting more than your spending regardless.

I was pretty stoked that this laptop dropped at the price point it did. The 6800M is no slouch and frequently tests somewhere in between the 3070 and 3080 max-P offerings depending on benchmark or title. The CPU outpaces other desktop offerings such as the 3700X pretty easily, even in multithreaded scores. I added a couple of 1TB SK P31 NVME drives in RAID0 (~6.5GB/s), Intel AX210 and 64G OLOy CL18, it's a super fast and capable computer that can run any title on the market at a noticeable cost savings against other offerings that are significantly over $2k. The screen is bright and smooth, the keyboard feels decent and has 4 zone RGB. It's easy to work on inside, no issues otherwise. My only requests for manufacturer modifications would be to use dual rank RAM and to either include an additional USBC interface or up the interface to 20Gbps. Transferring files to external nvme is a bottleneck at 10 Gbps given the rates of the modules themselves.

I'd like to mention first that I got this open box. Now then, I had this for 13 days before returning it, so I can say I know its strengths and flaws. This laptop is really good with price and performance. Unfortunately it has no MUX nor good ram... This laptop NEEDS twinking, it's latest drivers are not it's best drivers when it comes to AMD adrenaline, that's because it somehow loses FSR in newer builds. This laptop has games where it just doesn't output the fps you'd expect, and I'm saying this while bypassing optimus using USB C. Unfortunately I was not able to fix stutters, which and has acknowledged is a problem. Another flaw is this laptop will thermal throttle, I had a cooling pad, and a cold room yet it somehow hits 96 in temps... I would limit the watts the CPU gets and max fans yet it still would hit 96, I have no idea why it hits that high, I limited the fps the game gets and all, but yeah bad temps. The biggest thing that messed me up though is how it went on sale twice after I bought it... I might it was 14 days and 2 sales hit it, open box went to 1k when I had bought it for 1.2k. Bestbuy doesn't even price match open box items even though open box items do drop in price when there's a sale. So yeah, the software sucks so hard, the laptop battery is so good, and you'll never hit 300hz on 1080p on any triple A cause there's bad slow ram and no mux switch to increase performance.

      Dear Zion,

It's unfortunate to hear that you return the notebook because of multiply issues. Usually, open-box items are goods returned by customers, inspected by the retailer, found to be in working order, and re-sold at a discount. What you've experienced was not intentional and we do hope your experience will not be everlasting. If you have any concerns about another model, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] and provide this link for reference. I'll do my best to provide a quick resolution to your case. An amazing Laptop hands down. It is definitely a competitive laptop on the market, and for the price you cannot believe the value you are getting with it. I see the review that have issues with the gpu, but mine does not have that issue fortunately. I did hear that some people had to update drivers to get it to work, but I do feel it could be a software related issue. I am absolutely impressed with how well this laptop can handle gaming, as well as every day use. The battery life is exceptional and love the feel of the keyboard. The Asus interface is one of my favorite, and I have always been an amd Guy, I am thoroughly impressed. I would recommend!

As is, this gaming laptop is very good. If you upgrade the RAM, it is fantastic. Probably the fastest gaming laptop I've used. The build quality is OK. Not in the range of Alienware or Razer. The sturdy plastic and rubber on the bottom feels sturdy. The part where your palms rest could be metal or plastic, I can't tell. But does not feel premium. Since this is the area that is interacted with the most, it should feel premium--it does not. If you will be connecting an external keyboard, then this will not be an issue.

This is a great laptop for the price that I purchased. Bought for my wife to play games. The only downside for this laptop was the 512gb storage and the 16gb RAM (2x8gb sticks), but that was resolved thanks to a sale of a 1tb M.2 and another sale of 2x16gb RAM. With some additional tweaks of the software, this laptop performs great with high graphic demanding games. Very pleased and would be tempted to by a second one for myself if the need arises.

I had VERY high expectations as I waited for my new unit to arrive after reading the specs along with a few articles that had been published. Unfortunately the only thing that I can share is that I have never been able to use it for more than a matter of minutes because it will not stop freezing & then forcing a reboot, just to freeze & reboot all over again. I have been in touch w/ASUS but after 1 1/2 weeks they have stopped responding. At this point I would DEFINITELY 1000% NOT RECOMMEND to ANYONE.

Big fan of this laptop. Has good thermals, great trackpad, screen is fantastic with the high refresh rate, and has fairly accurate colors for creators. Fans do get a little loud, but it is certainly manageable for the amount of performance given. Battery life is pretty decent as well, given the specs. 9/10

Ok i love this laptop, It’s quiet like a sleeping baby. Pros? • Powerful, very fast and All AMD ( a Plus for the market) • Cheap, yes it’s too much for the price • Ice cold, this laptop is quiet and stay cool even when playing at 4k (external monitor) for hours •Design, yes it’s look the same as older models but still look good and feel premium. Cons? • It’s a little heavy and thick • The ram, you should replace it like i did • Storage it’s come with 512 ssd, you can add another nvme •RAy tracing performance, yes it’s AMD but DLSS is something special, i am waiting for the new AMD software. It’s a good laptop i( who had the M17 R4 and M15 R4) thinks this laptop is better and cheaper (cooling systems etcs)
