The ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WIFI motherboard is a compelling choice for gamers and PC enthusiasts seeking a blend of performance, advanced features, and user-friendly design. Designed for AMD's AM5 socket and built upon the AMD X870 chipset, this ATX motherboard supports the latest Ryzen processors, offering a solid foundation for high-performance computing. Really easy to set up with clear labels and instructions in the manual. The value for the performance and price is extremely well balanced and the AM5 socket allows me to harness my 4070 super in its entirety. Features I really like: High Performance & Overclocking Supports AMD Ryzen processors with the AM5 socket. AI Overclocking allows for optimized performance with auto-tuning. Advanced Cooling & Thermal Management AI Cooling II automatically adjusts fan speeds based on system load. High-quality heatsinks and VRM cooling ensure stability under heavy loads. Cutting-Edge Networking Wi-Fi 7 for ultra-fast wireless connectivity. AI Networking II prioritizes bandwidth for gaming and streaming. User-Friendly Features M.2 Q-Release & PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim for easy SSD & GPU installation. Simplified BIOS updates and tuning with ASUS firmware tools.

Upgraded from a gigabyte B650, glad I did. This board is just better in every way. The audio, memory and more ports are great. The wifi capability is better. Bios is easier to navigate in my opinion. Price is little up there for a board but its ASUS and a Strix board so its expected. I also got mine on sale so that helped. Overall i'm happy with the purchase and should hold me over for the next few years.

This motherboard has been excellent paired with the 9800x3d. Expo works great, and there's tons of overclocking headroom. I'm currently hitting 5850mhz single core oc on this board.

Boughy this for a 9800X3D full tower bulld and did not disappoint. Tons of ports in the back, multiple headers for full tower cases that require multiple connectors up front (I’m using the Asus Helios case). It also looks gorgeous but my favorite feature is the AI software that manages overclocking for you. That beat the AMD software by a long shot, and forget about tinkering with the BIOS, this is a dream come true for us mere mortals.

Works with zero hiccups. First AMD PC build after 20 years with Intel computers. I was lucky to see the 9800x3d at my local Best Buy and got this MB to go with it. Awesome combo. I only play CS and VAL, Blows away my old PC by 800FPS on the same GPU.

A Step Backward for Premium Expectations

As a long-time ASUS enthusiast—having owned the 990FX Sabertooth, Crossblade Ranger, and excellent X470-F Gaming—I expected the X870-F Gaming WiFi to be a premium upgrade for my Ryzen 9 9800X3D build. Instead, it feels like a mid-range board with flashy VRMs, RGB, and a steep $400+ price tag ($200 more than the X470-F when I bought it). It’s functional but underwhelms for premium buyers. Pros: Looks and Reliability: Sleek design with customizable RGB and a robust 16+2+2 VRM for overclocking. ASUS’s build quality inspires confidence in long-term reliability. Connectivity: Four M.2 slots (with PCIe 5.0), WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and solid I/O (2x USB4, HDMI, DisplayPort). BIOS updates are easy—latest version applied smoothly. Cons: Poor Audio: The SupremeFX ALC4080 is a integrated USB controller, with worse sound quality and fewer features than the X470-F’s S1220A codec. A clear downgrade. Memory Issues: QVL-listed RAM (Corsair CMP96GX5M4B6000C30 at 6000 MT/s, Kingston Fury KF560C30BBEK2-64 at 6000 MT/s) underperforms despite BIOS updates. Both will only boot at 5600 or 5400 depending on the kit. ASUS support offered no help. Availability: Took six weeks to find in stock (via Best Buy). Value: Prioritizes RGB over practical upgrades, lacking the premium polish of the X470-F. Even something as simple as USB headers are sparse. We should have at least 4 USB 2.0 Headers, and I'd say 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 3.1 is just minimum for this price range. But it's got a bunch of RGB! For budget upgraders, the X870-F might impress. For ROG loyalists, it’s a sidegrade at best. I'm not willing to return, but wouldn't buy again.

Need to update Bios for 9800x3d

Only issue I ran into with this motherboard is it's NOT ready out the box for 9800x3D CPUs ; you have to update the bios in order for that CPU to work. It's not hard, but is a bit annoying since you need a USB drive and need to download the correct bios files in order to update it. Aside from that issue it's a good motherboard with plenty of connections for peripherals. Asus bios is just much better/cleaner/simpler than other board manufacturers
