Great Computer. For the 799 price it is very good. But the 8GB memory is not enough for most gaming, you will need to add one more ram. It doesn't come with a 2.5 inch HDD slot.

This laptop is just built for gaming. From the moment you pop it open and lay your eyes on the styling, you will be blown away. And then you turn it on, and both the screen and the RGB keyboard look beautiful as well. look amazing. The 144hz refresh screen is smoothness personified, and the RTX3070Ti can pretty much take anything you throw at it. As other reviewers have noted, this does come with a month of Xbox Game Pass, so you will have plenty to throw at it. There is a pretty decent selection of IO as well - an ethernet port, HDMI, 3 USB A, 1 USB C and a headphone jack. With the notable exception of an SD card reader. There is also a great upgradability path, with an extra DIMM slot for Ram and an extra SSD slot. There's 12 screws on the back, but it does not come off easy, you really need to pry it off. My suggestion, start near the screen hinge and work your way around. Inside, you'll see that ASUS has put a lot of effort in cooling. The heat sinks are pretty big and even the RAM and SSD have heat transfer plates over them. To be honest, its one of the more well laid out laptops I have opened, and it should be pretty easy to work around. My concerns with this laptop are minor but still - they are items I wish were included. A privacy shutter for the camera, almost all new laptops have built in shutters for your camera and some even have switches for your mics. Now, I will have to stick on a separate privacy shutter on the camera and ruin its looks. Also, I wish the USB-C port could be used to deliver power as well. Again, something most new laptops come with nowadays. I am so used to just carrying a single USB-C power brick that can charge all my laptops and mobiles. The power brick that comes with it is humongous and heavy and without it the laptop does not survive too long. Overall, its a decent gaming laptop, just missing a few items that would have made it perfect.

    Subpar screen (light blotches)

This laptop operates fine given the specs and has run everything I’ve thrown at it well enough. However, the subpar screen hinders the experience. The bleeding and blotches around the edges are awful. It is very noticeable when playing games or watching movies that have dimly lit screens. It’s too distracting to even consider keeping the thing. I had purchased 32GB of RAM and an additional m.2 SSD for it but didn’t even bother installing.

Love it, very happy with it but I will give you the pros and cons. Let's start with the cons: -Basically has to be plugged in to game on it (like most gaming laptops, from what I looked up the issue is power. The battery simply doesn't provide enough power for the hardware to run at full capacity) Works well on battery power for video calling, youtube, or general use. -The speakers could be louder/better quality. This is probably the biggest one for me. -The webcam sucks. Most laptops have this issue, I've only ever had one laptop with a good webcam before and it isn't this one. A better webcam is reasonably cheap so I would recommend investing in one if video calling is something you do alot. I really don't understand why laptop webcams aren't better quality. I mean they really aren't that expensive so I don't know. That's it, really other than that this laptop thusfar has been amazing. Pros: -Nice screen size -Screen is bright enough -Fantastic build quality, doesn't feel cheap at all. Can attract fingerprints a bit but I have seen much worse before. Screen doesn't wobble at all like some cheaper laptops. -Performs well. Realistically it could use more RAM so I bought 16gb extra (though I have yet to install that I am just running the 8gb). It runs well enough with 8gb but I think you will see a notable difference in performance with more, I think it will be worth the upgrade but if money is tight 8gb works just fine. -Cooling. This is the literal coolest laptop I have ever had, even when running a game on max settings (I ran COH 2) I had no problem, the worst it got was 'warm' and this was when it was plugged in. I've had other 'higher end' laptops as well as low end ones feel like molten lava, not this thing. It stays incredibly cool, I have to give massive props to Asus for this as alot of laptops have overheating issues. -Keyboard is comfortable to use and feels responsive. Has a nice sound and feel every time a key is pressed, I type alot and write things so this is a plus. -Tracpad feels good and physical buttons in a world where they are becoming increasingly rare is a plus. Love the buttons once again very responsive. -Works well with internet, I've had some Laptops that for one reason or another are slow even when other internet connected devices in my home are not. This one is quite fast. -Has some weight to it. I don't like when laptops feel like cheap plastic, I guess this goes with build quality but yeah it's quite good. -Backlit keyboard works and colors are good. This might surprise you but I've gotten laptops before where the backlit keyboard straight up didn't work at all. Musta been my bad luck but yeah this one works. -Easy setup, no crashes. Alot of laptops I've had have crashed on setup as a start to a whole bunch of problems. Not this one. Also Asus has a diagnostic tool built into it which tests the fans and other things so that is a plus, easy to use. That's it really, fair warning I have only had this thing for two days but I have used it extensively during that time and I am hard to impress when it comes to tech, usually at best I will say something is 'acceptable' but this is a very good laptop for the price.

This is one of the best deals for a gaming PC under $1000 out there but doesn't come without certain faults. I was looking mainly at this one and the Acer Nitro 5 but that came with only 256gb storage for the same price, otherwise very similar specs. Pros: -Good for gaming -Keys and trackpad nice to use -144 Hz screen -Feels generally very sturdy -Like how you can customize the color of the backlit keyboard -Large screen also good for gaming, laptop is a bit heavy Cons: -Complete power hog - for me gets 1 hr of battery life even while just web browsing (this was on performance mode, probably gets more on power saver mode) -At times gets very hot, although I will say I often play games on my lap. I also don't know if this could have to do with Windows 11 to which I just upgraded. Recently it got up to 89 degrees C with a game that isn't all that demanding - which was a little concerning. This usually is not the case with this laptop in my experience though. -Obviously this laptop doesn't prioritize portability with how large it is, if that's what you want go for a smaller screen and something less bulky I took off one star mainly for the poor battery life but was otherwise a great purchase and definitely a steal.

Best Gaming Laptop for Your Buck!

This is definitely one of the best gaming laptops for your buck! With its large 17" screen, crystal clear high refresh display, fast processor, and RTX 3050 Ti GPU, You really can't beat the price for a gaming laptop of this caliber for under $1000. The laptop's build feels very solid. Cooling is well thought out. The RGB keyboard lighting is fun. The drawbacks though with having a laptop this big is that the weight will eventually get to you if you plan on being mobile with the laptop. It's not a light laptop.

This isn't a top of the line gaming laptop, let's get that out of the way to begin. For a middle of the road laptop though, it is pretty solid. Let's start with the pros- -Incredibly fast boot time, consistently less than 30 seconds. -Amazing heat management, even running games that I've had other laptops exceed 70c with a cooling pad, this laptop never went over 56c. - The monitor is gorgeous, it promises FHD 144hz and it delivers. - The keyboard, aside from looking nifty, is actually really comfortable to type on (you know, when you want to also be productive from time to time). - It is very well packaged (I know I'm probably one of the few people who cares about that, but I feel it shows a level of thoughtfulness that I appreciate). Now onto the cons- - The SSD is very fast and I don't like complaining about it, but 512 GB just doesn't go as far as it used to. I'd much rather have seen a 1TB drive. - I hope that this is an isolated thing, but my laptop required a lot of "day one" updates out of the box. It was easily two days before I had finished all the updates and set up to be able to truly enjoy the laptop. This is the reason I gave 4-stars instead of 5. As I said, I'm hoping it is an isolated incident, but be aware that it is a thing that can happen.

My 8-year-old grandson and I like to bond over gaming. We were excited to try out this gaming laptop. We have currently been using a desktop and an older laptop. The first thing we noticed is that the keyboard is responsive and quiet. The colors change and I think that's cool- he was less impressed with that! The touchpad also has buttons that eliminate the guessing of where left and right click are. The buttons are also very responsive. It is also a clever design that the W key has a bump similar to the F and J to help align your fingers. WIth game play, the W/A/S/D keys are critical for movement. You can use the bump to quickly set your fingers up on the correct keys. I think what most impressed the 8-year-old was that we could get 200 FPS with really great graphics. One plus is that this laptop will be designated only for game playing so it won't get bogged down with other programs and apps which eat up memory and RAM. We will definitely be playing rocks/paper/scissors to see who gets to use the new gaming laptop and who is relegated to the desktop or old laptop! lol

This "gaming" laptop gives you good bang for your buck, but is lacking a bit in a few areas. The overall feel/build quality of this laptop is great. It feels like it would be able to withstand bumps and small drops better than the average laptop. The keyboard has a nice feel to it, and you can customize the backlight color. The processor is on par with other laptops in its price range, and isn't likely to be the issue if you run into performance issues when gaming. This model only came with 8GB of memory, which definitely bottlenecks this laptop's potential. Fortunately an extra 8GB of ram is an easy and fairly inexpensive upgrade. I ran a benchmark before and after I purchased some extra ram, and it scored significantly higher in multiple areas after I installed the ram. The RTX3050 Ti GPU isn't terrible, but a bit disappointing. The biggest issue with it is that it only has 4GB of vram. Assuming you've upgraded to 16GB of ram, the GPU's vram is likely going to be the weak point of the laptop's performance, and unfortunately it's not something that you can upgrade. Drawbacks aside, this is still a good laptop overall.

I picked up this laptop as an open box when it was last on sale and paid ~$665.00. At that price I think it’s a fantastic deal. Performance, cooling, screen, keyboard are very good. Wifi speeds are surprisingly excellent. Audio is only OK regardless of how I adjust it and battery life is just ok, but for the price, I’m not complaining too loudly. RAM is single channel and the SSD is middle-of-the-road in speed and capacity. Despite this, for anyone who wants to upgrade, this laptop is very easy to open up and get inside. RAM may be single channel, but it is not soldered (so two upgradable slots). I immediately added a 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus SSD and 64GB of 3200 RAM I happened to have handy, and as you would expect, it’s made quite the difference. I would highly recommend this laptop, and I think at the sale price it’s really an outstanding value.

Great product! The display is great and I haven;t had problems with this machine for at least a year. I waited on writing a review on this until I had some time with it. I did upgrade the ram to 32gb and I added another nvme ssd, which is great because there is a second nvme slot. The 3050ti can run red dead redemption 2 with ease on medium setting and the intel core i5-11260h is more than capable of many of the demanding titles out there. The lid is a brushed metal, while the rest of the computer is your typical laptop plastic. Thermally, it runs well and the fans can make a slight hum when there is a demand, but you don't buy a gaming laptop for low sound. For the price, you can't really beat what you get.

This laptop is absolutely great for gaming and school, but there are a couple problems with it. For one, the battery life is mediocre, even running on the igpu and with the panel power saver option enabled. The second problem is the ram config- hypothetically, 8 gigs is enough for gaming, but most people will have background tasks like discord or chrome open, so it’s a good idea to upgrade to 16 gigs of ram. Last, the bottom panel is difficult to pull off, and you’ll need a butter knife(at the very least, something designed for disassembly like an iFixit tool would be better.) Otherwise, it’s nice!

For $799 on sale, this laptop is an absolute steal. For this price with a dedicated gpu, you're expected to get 8gb of ram and 512gb of storage. But what really sold me on this laptop was the fact that it has an additional ram slot and m2 ssd slot. I just went to amazon and spent an extra $80 to buy a second 8gb ram and 512gb ssd so my total price came out to $880. If you try and find a laptop with a 3050ti, 16gb ram, and 1tb ssd prebuilt, you're looking at upwards of $1k, so nabbing this for just $880 was a no brainer for me. Plays triple A games great on medium settings at 1080p. Only downside being that the 3050ti only has 4gb of VRAM, which can bottleneck higher demanding games on the highest settings, but I'm not much of a fidelity person so I always play my games on low-medium so the VRAM isn't much of an issue for me personally. The fan can get a bit loud when gaming. I would highly suggest buying a laptop stand so there is more room for ventilation. The laptop doesn't get that hot while gaming though, the fan is just a bit loud.

Ram everything I threw at it, obviously at medium graphics running 50-85 fps like rdr2 and cyberpunk, tweaking some games and lowering resolution bumps it up to 100+ fps, I do recommend adding 8 more gbs of ram to unleash its true potential with a 500gb ssd, Poor battery life and not meant for gaming on the go

Let’s start by saying I purchased this on sale for 799$. It is not worth 1000$, simply because it has 8gb of ram and only a 512 m.2. I put 32 gigs of 3200 mghz in and wham. The laptop is super responsive and takes anything you throw at it. Runs battlefield 5 on medium with DLSS at over 100 frames. Back 4 blood on medium didn’t have the frames up but it seemed to run as smooth as BFV. It’s a shame they charge 1000$ retail for this when it’s worth 799 as is. Screen is great even though it’s only HD. 144hertz is smooth as ever. The battery is the other joke. It needs the 90 watt hour to be worth it. All in all if you are going to get this on sale, yes it is worth it. As long as you plan to dump another 200-250$ on it to make it right. I am happy with it as it is for my wife and I have my own desktop.

i bought this gaming laptop to replacing my old asus gaming laptop. the laptop shuts down when tasked with multiple graphics tasks. hopefully this laptop will hold multiple graphics tasks. the sound system is small compared to my old asus i.e. subwoofer 4 speaker set. but thats ok. i am in the technical specs of the laptop. it has the most specs you can buy in a budget price. labor day special of 849,99. black friday just maybe 50.00 lower. i am not much of a gamer but i love the quality fps/144 hz /2500 shader units. the screen looks so much smoother. i luv 4k 120 hz screens but the price is 3,000 and up. so iwill luv this laptop for now.

So let me start by saying im not a computer guru, I barely know the basics. I did my research ahead of time and went this route due to the ease of adding more ram and hard drive per other reviews. I have only had the computer about 4 days but so far can say its awesome. My wife plays sims 4 on the highest settings and has 0 issues. I have started playing Ark on epic and its smooth as can be. Graphics are awesome. The only downside is battery drains super quick i have seen others say they can change settings and get 8 hours of normal use and everything i tried i get 2-3 tops and gaming is like an hour and a half tops. I'll update after i get to play some other graphics heavy games and see how the 3050 holds up and after I upgrade ram and hard drive.
