The Asus Vivobook is an everyday workhorse laptop for those who need Intel Core processing power but don't need the high-end form factor or materials. It gives us access to a more than usable yet affordable laptop that we can throw around and not feel the guilt of minor dings and dents that may happen throughout its daily use. The Vivobook is not the thinnest and not the fanciest of laptops, but where it shines is its practicality and usability. This version of the Vivobook comes with the latest 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1334U @ 1.30 GHz, 12GB of RAM, and a 256GB Samsung /NMVe SSD. The display is a 1080p @ 60Hz. For most of us, that's plently of power, space and visuals for easy browsing, YouTubing and productivity applications that don't require a lot of graphics power. No, the Vivobook does not come with a dedicated graphics card, but a more than capable Intel Iris Xe GPU is onboard. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed. From a construction standpoint, the Vivobook shell is a combo of metal and durable plastic; open it up and you'll find the same. The keys are plastic as well as the bezel that surrounds the 14" display. The medal can be found on the top shell of the laptop as well as the inner shell surrounding the keyboard. Finally, the bottom of the laptop is made of plastic, with vents to allow heat to dissipate out of the laptop. Extended rubber feet keep the laptop raised off the surface to allow heat to disperse out and away. The laptop is lightweight at 3 pounds and is about 0.75 inches thin. Durable? Asus claims it has been stringently tested to U.S. Military-grade durability standards. Sure, I can get behind that. From a peripheral standpoint, the Vivobook does have 3xUSB-A, 1xUSB-C, and HDMI, and a 3.5mm port. From a design perspective, the keyboard is very easy to use; Asus calls it their ErgoSense keyboard and it definitely feels leaps better than your average laptop keyboard. I attribute that to the spacing between keys as well as its tactile feel. The ten-key can't be found on the physical keyboard, but Asus came up with a clever way to incorporate that into the touchpad itself. It does take practice getting used to the touch ten-key, but I only found it beneficial when I used it in conjunction with a dedicated mouse. The experience using this laptop is more than satisfactory. It's actually very pleasant. This can be attributed to the Intel 12-Core i5 processor and 12GB RAM installed. With this combo platter of hardware, you get the best average runtime of about 6-7 hours, which is where I think a laptop is worth its weight in gold. That's enough for a full day's work. Now this can vary depending on what you're doing, and also depends on how bright you set the display. Watching a movie? You'll shave off a couple of hours, but at least have plenty of time to finish an average 2-hour film. Setting the brightness lower can help get some power back. I can see the display comfortably at 30% brightness. Heat isn't an issue here either. While on my lap, I never noticed it warming up significantly enough that warranted me to take it off my lap. It's nowhere near a gaming laptop in terms of heat. Speaking of power, there are some notable things the Vivobook will do to conserve power. If you're viewing anything that doesn't require lighter colors, the screen will automatically lower brightness to save power. When you switch back to an app that's using white as a background (Notepad, for instance), it will slowly bring the brightness up to your original setting. The display itself will refresh at 60Hz, which further helps battery conservation, but doesn't allow for dynamic refresh rates. The experience using this laptop can also be less than satisfactory at times. In darker environments, the keyboard isn't backlit. I encountered this during work travel and had to use the overhead light to illuminate my keys. Not a terrible miss, but will be hard for those who need to see the keys while typing. Another minor, yet annoying miss is the actual touchpad incorporating the ten-key. There were times where I inadvertently turned on the ten-key, causing every tap to actually input a number. Another miss is the viewing angles of the screen. The best contrast can be had when the user is looking at the screen dead on. Any tilt will wash out the screen and similarly any side viewing angles will do the same. Finally, the sound quality is surprisingly good. There isn’t a ton of low end, but otherwise mid and highs are rather pleasant. The speakers fire down onto the surface and bounce back towards your ears. I enjoyed listening to Merry-Go-Round of Life and listening to the different instruments being played. Overall, the Asus Vivobook with Intel Core processors, particularly this version being the i5 variant is a worthy buy at a reasonable price point. It is a daily driver, productivity first laptop with business-level apps in mind, and it's definitely plenty for personal use. It's pretty much a turnkey laptop as there isn't anything else to be done in terms of battery management. I'd say the Intel i5 processor is perfect for those who care more for battery life vs more processing power and is the main reason why I chose this over the i7 variant.

I bought this computer on sale for $350 which I think was completely worth it. It's a good budget computer, good battery life when doing basic things but does heat up when several tabs are open.

ASUS: In Search Of Incredibly Disappointing Value

With Windows 10 in its limelight and due to have security updates discontinued later this year, odds are you’re reading this review as you’re shopping for a new daily driver laptop that will work with Windows 11 and last you for years to come. The midrange laptop market is chock full of options from the major OEMs, and ASUS’ Vivobook line looks to strike the balance between performance and portability without breaking the bank. Landing squarely at the $600 MSRP mark, this configuration of the Vivobook 14 puts an Intel Core i5 processor as its centerpiece, presumably to offer more power and memory than the entry level model to better multitask with ease. While the headline features beget good value for the money, unfortunately what lies beyond the big-name processor is a machine that had too many corners cut to justify its asking price. - Unboxing & Setup, General Impressions ASUS presents the Vivobook with just the essentials to get started: the laptop itself, a 45-watt AC adapter, and a couple pamphlets for warranty, health and safety, and support information. I needed to charge the laptop for about 10 minutes before I powered it on, where I was presented with the familiar Windows 11 setup process. First impressions of the laptop were mixed. While the laptop lid is fairly nice, the hinges feel soft to operate with little tension (though they do hold their position fine), and what lies underneath continues with more bargain-bin components than I was expecting. The keyboard, though in my preferred chiclet style for more tactile typing, is made in a plastic with texturing that feels cheap. The membrane keys are a bit mushier than I was expecting, and there’s a just enough flex at the middle of the keyboard to make the laptop feel less substantial in use. The touchpad initially feels fine until you press to click, where it physically depresses more than most laptops I’ve used with a chunky click that doesn’t inspire confidence. I also struggled on occasion to get it to register a right-click, which further drives home the low-end feel to the laptop tray. Refreshingly, the ASUS Vivobook 14 comes preloaded with little bloatware. Only one ASUS-specific screen to register the laptop is added to setup, and this is skippable. The MyASUS application is the bulk of preinstalled software, which gives additional control over the machine that the Windows 11 Settings and Control Panel applications do not. The biggest feature here is the battery care option, which can limit charging to 80% of the battery’s capacity to extend its lifespan. I recommend doing this for daily use at home, and if you need to charge to full capacity for an extended session you have the option to turn it off for 24 hours to allow 100% charges on an as-needed basis. - Performance I was initially skeptical that the processor would keep up with daily duties, as the most recent Intel based laptops I’d used previously were bogged down by Windows 11 when paired with older DDR4 memory (which this machine has). After a few days of casual use, however, the 13th-generation Intel Core i5 1334U surprised me with how snappy it is. Despite having just two “performance” cores with hyperthreading, 8 “efficient” cores designed to handle nearly all background tasks free up the most performant part of the CPU for more demanding tasks. You won’t be doing high-end gaming or virtualization-heavy workloads on this chip, but it can certainly edit photos or videos without too much trouble and keep up with business type use, easily. 12GB of RAM is a little light for a modern laptop, especially considering the CPU needs some of that to run the integrated graphics, but the SSD helps alleviate the worst of memory bottlenecks. Running a modern browser with multiple tabs is plenty doable, though I did notice once I got past 5 or 6 tabs they would start unloading from memory to cache on the SSD, causing older tabs to take a second or two to reload when flipping back to them. Multitasking with a video or streaming music player in the background was plenty fine as well. I did notice a little bit of stuttering when using the webcam on Teams with many browser tabs open, but it was usually brief and never slowed down the entire system with it. While not a gaming laptop in the least, I was curious to see how it fared with light gaming and eSports titles. Rocket League on low details at 1080p held a steady 60FPS, and of course 2D titles like Balatro and Stardew Valley were no trouble at all. They did all hit the battery life some, with Rocket League being the worst offender - estimated battery runtime from full charge fell to just under two hours. - Screen, Sound, Battery It’s here where the Vivobook’s value-oriented nature comes into light. The 14” 1080p LCD screen, while bright, appears very washed out with poor color accuracy and narrow viewing angles. A few degrees’ tilt of the screen dramatically shifts perceived colors, and it’s not too much further until everything washes out into a grey-blue hue (conveniently matching the laptop’s color, at least). Speakers get a resounding “eh,” despite their SonicMaster branding - they’re not the worst I’ve heard and can get decently loud, but they lack bass and have a bit of a hollow sound to them. Serviceable, sure, but bring headphones if you want to listen to music or movies. Battery life under casual use is about on par for laptops in this price range. ASUS estimates 8 hours with typical use, and I saw about 6 and a half hours before I saw a 10% warning on my first rundown test from full, browsing the web and messaging for most of the day with the screen at about half brightness. It won’t win any awards for longevity, and doing anything more intense on the CPU will get you far less runtime, but the battery should get you through daily outings short of long-haul flights without needing to plug in. - Upgradeability & Value Despite how well the laptop performs on the whole, the parts used and final specifications for this laptop make it feel very much like a parts-bin special. Using older DDR4 memory means RAM is cheap and plentiful, but including only 12GB is quite skimpy when 16GB would have been just a few dollars more. Gen3 SSDs are equally inexpensive but one of the absolute smallest capacities available was used here. The wireless chip is insultingly outdated, supporting only WiFi 5. These are all upgradeable (8GB onboard RAM + single SODIMM for up to 40GB RAM, and both SSD + WiFi are on PCIe M.2 connectors) at least, and getting into the laptop is a straightforward affair with about a dozen philips screws on the bottom and a set of snaps that are fairly easy to dislodge. Adding insult to injury, the port selection consists of almost entirely USB type A ports (two of which are USB 3.2 Gen 1, and one of which is only USB 2.0 - truly insulting in 2025) with a single USB-C port (also rated for USB 3.2 Gen 1) that doesn’t support charging via Power Delivery. Indeed, the only way to charge this laptop is with the included DC barrel jack, 45W charger. At least the charger is fairly small and portable, I suppose… These would all be acceptable concessions on a value-oriented laptop retailing for $349, but with an MSRP of $599…I can’t help but feel like a target market for this laptop is consumers who don’t know any better. - Bottom Line I’m still surprised how quickly it became apparent that this laptop was nowhere near as premium as its price suggested. Though it does perform admirably for daily use, the corner-cutting is just too obvious and it drags down the experience. Cheap plastic, cheap screen, cheap components…this presents online far better than it does in person. I was torn whether to give this review only two stars, but the Vivobook’s performance is at least better than I was expecting. While I applaud that the RAM, SSD, and WiFi are all upgradeable, there are too many cost-cutting measures at play here. At the time of writing this review several other ASUS laptops are listed on Best Buy at lower (sale) prices with significantly improved specifications, such as ASUS’ own ZenBook line. Do your due diligence - unless this laptop is on sale for a significant discount and the compromises don’t particularly affect you, I do not recommend the Vivobook 14.

This lightweight Asus is more than meets the eye. The sound quality is amazing and feels theater-like. The speakers are on the bottom and so when you have it in your lap while watching a music video/movie you experience a theater like sound. Very impressive. Online gaming was solid and response time, screen view of fast moving character/objects was great. The picture quality is very good. The colors vibrant. The laptop screen open all the way flat to a 180 degree angle. There’s a switch to cover the camera so you may have privacy you seek when camera not in use. The mousepad has a built in calculator which allows for turning it on/off from just a touch on the top right corner of the mousepad. You can turn it on upon opening your laptop and the laptop turning on and then use the calculator pad to enter your numeric password pin to get into your laptop. Calculating is easy with this feature. This is NOT a touch screen laptop. The light weight of the laptop makes moving it around, having it on your lap or passing it to someone as easy as passing a large tablet, yet it still feels solid and well built. The number keys have larger to read numbers and the other options on those keys are smaller. The button to turn on the laptop is located on a key on the actual keyboard located on the top right corner area. The enter key has a marking to allow you to find it quicker. The Asus laptop comes with lots of safety features that allow you to toggle on or off and includes a 3 month online gaming trial. The charger is squarish with a long wire. Recording was great as it has noise canceling features and allowed for me to record myself singing while canceling out other annoying noises in my background environment. The set up was easy and connected immediately to my home wifi system. A little too easy, like lightening. Many ports for those who need to plug in lots of various connections. See pics attached. Overall a great laptop that I would highly recommend.

This ASUS Vivobook 14 14” FHD Laptop with Intel Core i5 processor, 12GB Memory, and a 256GB SSD in Quiet Blue is a good choice for home or college use. It has a lot of customizable features via the ASUS software. Setup time was only time consuming due to all of the updates. Once they were installed, it went smooth and fast. Best uses for this laptop: The best uses for this laptop are what many do most with a laptop. Browse the Internet, watch movies and videos, listen to music, productivity apps like word processing, spreadsheets, simple presentations, email, calendar and scheduling apps, journaling apps, and editing photographs. The amount of space on the SSD is 256GB, so you have some space to store documents and photos, but not a massive amount. Performance: The laptop performed well using installed productivity software and web based applications. I had no issues watching movies and videos. There was no lag or delays at all. Web browsing went smoothly and there were no hiccups. I opened multiple tabs to see if there would be issues, and there wasn’t. I was able to navigate through pages and pages of content seamlessly. Battery life: Battery life all depends on what you are doing. A fully charged battery lasted me almost 7.5 hours while watching movies, videos and browsing the internet. That’s pretty good. It also charges pretty fast too in less than and hour and a half. Screen resolution: The 14” screen is FHD, and is bright and colorful. It can be adjusted in settings. Speakers/Sound: The speakers sound pretty good for a small laptop. I could clearly hear the movie, videos and music. The touchpad/numberpad: This is different for me, and at first I liked it, but then I didn’t. It’s kind of awkward having the numberpad on the touchpad. I couldn’t get used to it. This is a personal preference, but it’s just out of place for me. To sum it all up, this is a good laptop for someone at home or school that does everyday tasks on the computer. It can handle light gaming, but not heavy gaming. It can handle multitasking and your productivity apps. It’s a good little laptop.

#####First Impressions##### The ASUS Vivobook is the perfect laptop for long hours of homework tasks, internet/email browsing, non demanding jobs, with some basic gaming on the side. This laptop will make it so easy to multitask with word, excel, outlook, while having several tabs on the web browser, and Spotify on the side, without even stuttering. To elaborate, i will explain it further in this in depth review. ****Pros***** -Smaller Size for portability -Processor good for multitasking -Very Good amount of RAM for multitasking(12GB of DDR4) -Decently lit screen for bright areas(250 nits) -Number Pad built in the Mouse Pad -Keyboard caps made up of a textured plastic -Multiple Fast USB A (Classic Ports) and a USB-C Port (Newer) -HDMI to connect to external displays/tvs -Speakers are decent compared to others in the same category -Fast Write/Read Storage (NVMe ~4k mb/s) -Screen tilt up to 180 degrees (Parallel to keyboard) -Upgradable (Memory/Storage) -Intel Integrated Graphics (IrisXe) for basic gaming -Fast Charging when battery is low *****Opinion (Based on personal preference)***** -Shell material/quality -Screen Brighness -Storage capacity(256 GB) -Battery Last about 3-5 on performance, and 4-7 on eco mode -No Thunderbolt Port -No USB-C charging -Wifi-5?? (in the big 2025) -No backlit keyboard -No Ethernet Port *****Cons***** -Shell is a fingerprint magnet *****Review***** To start out i will say that this laptop is still under the budget category but offers premium features. The features that stand out the most as "premium" are the integrated graphics, memory and the fast storage. In the box, one gets the laptop and charger and the usual paperwork. The laptop is made out of a sturdy plastic with a matte finish and the logo embossed on the top part. I have honestly felt other budget laptops that feel like you could snap the plastic with your fingers so this one is a plus. For the ports, the laptop offers the old school USB-A, one being a 2.0 and the others being 3.2, the version means they can transfer data faster and are compatible with more devices. Since the laptop, is a 14", the buyer gets a 65% keyboard layout, meaning you do not get the number keypad, but to my surprise it is included in the mouse pad with a the touch of a button. I've owned another vivobook in the past and the only thing i wish this one had that the other one had, is a backlit keyboard. Once turned on, one is greeted with a 1080p, 250nitt, 60hz, non-reflective display. I did more research and found out that the display is an IPS panel, what this means in simpler terms? for the resolution, the technology is the second best in the market. Set up is simple, once done, there will be no bloatware other than MYASUS which is not bad compared to other companies proprietary software. Now lets get down to decision maker points, what makes this device stand out from the others. To reiterate, this is a budget laptop mostly aimed for people who need a second laptop for work, people who need a laptop for light work for school, and people who want to browse the internet, look at emails and just want a smoother experience while doing so. With that out of the way let me start with the integrated graphics card. Inside, one gets the Intel IrisXe graphics, which was introduced a few years ago, and it is honestly not bad. I've owned another device with similar specs to this laptop and was able to do some light gaming here and there (Hades, Risk of Rain, Gunfire Reborn, etc...,). I am sure one can find the list of games this Integrated GPU supports if you are interested in that. But just keep in mind if you need to render things for school this laptop will not be it. On to the next point the memory. The memory provided is 12GB which is a good spot for multitasking since software keeps on getting more demanding everyday. Just for giggles, if you already own a computer, open the browser and a few tabs, then open the task manager and you will see what I mean. One downside could be that the 12GB is made up of DDR4 technology which is almost a decade old. Keep in mind that if you want DDR5, it will either be more expensive, or there will be no upgradability since most are LPDDR5, meaning they are soldered on to the board. Lastly, the storage. This laptop offers 256GB of PCI4 NVMe, which means it is the latest and greatest of memory. I dug around, and the read could be around 3.3k to 5k which is not crazy fast but good, the only thing I personally i am not a fan of is the capacity. The good thing about both the memory(RAM) and storage is that both are upgradable and if you plan on keeping this laptop for a while, this is a good thing. I will be honest, shopping for a laptop can be tedious and confusing, but if you are in a rush and need a laptop fast either for you or someone close to you, and you know what you are looking for, I will say this is a good choice to go for. As i mentioned earlier I would recommend this laptop to people who need a little bit of multitasking power for school or work, meaning you will be having word, excel, outlook, chrome, a lot of tabs open, etc... Or you have someone younger and you want them to have something that they can use for school but also introduce them to some light gaming. Lastly to elderly people who want to have a smoother experience while looking at the emails, pictures and or need to browse the internet. Overall, this is a solid laptop and would recommend it despite its shortcomings.

The ASUS Vivobook 14 is a new laptop with some nice features and something new, that I have not seen before. As you can probably guess from the name, this is considered a 14" Laptop. The screen actually measures 13.8 inches diagonally, with a resolution of 1920x1080. There are 6 rows of keys, with the top row being the function and configuration keys. They are about half the depth of the rest of the keys. The keyboard has 80 keys in a fairly normal layout. One oddity is that the power button is located between the "Print Screen" and "Delete" buttons. I haven't found it to be a problem for me, but I could see people accidently hitting it. It does not have a numeric keyboard in the normal sense. Instead, they have placed a numeric keypad on the touchpad. Tapping the upper right corner of the touchpad turns it into a numeric keypad and turns on a light showing that it is in numeric keypad mode. Oddly, it still functions as a touchpad if you aren't in an entry field on the screen. Otherwise it types numbers when you don't want them. I have found that more often than not, I accidently turn on the keypad as my fingers move around the touchpad. I think it would be nice to have the on/off switch for the keypad located off of the touchpad itself. As far as the rest of the laptop is concerned, there is a sliding switch which is a physical camera cover to prevent someone from hacking into the camera and seeing anything that they shouldn't. The laptop has an AI Noise Cancelling Microphone built in, making it better for video chatting. It has been tested to meet military durability standards, to help prevent damage from daily handling and abuse that it might see. It has 12GB of Ram but only a 256GB SSD. It features a 13th generation Intel Core i5 processor and utilizes Intel UHD Graphics. It does not have a touch screen, but it is designed to be able to folded flat at 180 degrees. There are 1 USB-A 2.0 port, 2 USB-A 3.2 ports and 1 USB-C 3.2 port. There are also a headphone jack and HDMI Output port. It has Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth. I'm giving the laptop 4 stars but feel it's really should get 3.5 stars The screen is really bright, and darks don't show up well. Images look washed out. The keyboard is not backlit. It doesn't have a touch screen, and it only has 256GB of SSD. It's fine for someone looking for an entry level machine, but don't expect to do any gaming or having a1 ton of storage.

I have yet to find an ASUS that I do not love, this Vivobook 14 lives up the quality I have come to expect from this brand. This is a thin, lightweight, but powerful laptop that is perfect for productivity on-the-go. Build First off, the laptop is made of solid, good quality components that feel robust and are tactically appealing. The screen has 180-degree mobility, allowing it to lay completely flat if necessary. The keyboard is clicky, with large slightly textured keys that are highly ergonomic. As someone prone to carpal tunnel, this is a huge plus for me as most smaller laptops aggravate my wrist pain. The trackpad is highly responsive, and I love the ingenuity in combining it with a 10-key pad. I am so accustomed to using the 10-key pad due to work that I struggle without one. This is a great way to save space while still providing one. Not only can I turn it on/off with the touch of a button, but I can easily swipe to pull up the calculator, one of my most used apps. The number pad is highly receptive to taps and registers every number without issue. Overall, the sturdy, small build makes this a great travel companion. It truly is ultra-portable being so thin and lightweight. Display The display provides full HD resolution, and it truly does provide great picture quality. Because of the antiglare, the angle the screen is viewed at does change the appearance of the screen, so it will not work well for sharing the screen or watching it with others. That said, I did the color correction calibration through the Windows setting and that increased the quality of the appearance further, giving me a bit more leeway in viewing mobility before having to change the screen angle. Productivity It is so easy to be productive on this notebook, there is enough RAM to multitask, and that paired with Windows 11 allows me to easily go between desktops and get my work done efficiently. Also, it comes with Copilot to help further streamline workloads and improve efficiency and time management. Internet Browsing and Entertainment The internet browser is also paired with Copilot which can help find answers to questions, filter reviews while shopping, and whittle down information during research. Streaming content works wonderfully in the Vivobook making this a great option to take on the go to beat boredom or learn new things. It loads up as quick as the local internet will allow it, which for me is quick, and you can watch everything in HD with no lag issues. So long as the screen is angled, right, the picture is vibrant and beautiful. It has great speakers too for a budget laptop. Camera The camera comes with a privacy shield that can be easily toggled on/off. I wish all webcams came with that. The quality of the camera itself though is subpar, giving a soft, blurred, and unflattering output. Overall This is a wonderful notebook for students, remote workers, people on a budget, and anyone who just wants an ultra-portable laptop at a low price. I am honestly loving this little guy for random everyday tasks and have been keeping it around me at home using it from everything from looking up recipes to shopping to streaming live concerts. It has great RAM and SSD, is perfect for taking it around the house and on-the-go.

    Basic Laptop With Good Performance

For the past week, I've been testing the new 14-inch Asus Vivobook laptop, which features an Intel i5 processor, 12GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Overall, it performs well for a basic budget laptop. The Asus Vivobook offers a good selection of ports. It includes three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, one HDMI port, an audio port, and a barrel connector for charging. The plastic chassis feels sturdy and is surprisingly lightweight. The textured keyboard has well-spaced keys and provides satisfying, responsive feedback. The trackpad is accurate and quickly registers taps and gestures. It also doubles as a numpad, a neat feature for those who need one. Minimal heat is detectable on the bottom, and the fan is very quiet. In terms of performance, the balanced processor and RAM configuration delivers unexpectedly smooth operation. Web browsing is lag-free, and YouTube videos load rapidly. The Wi-Fi maintained a strong connection and never faltered. The speakers get fairly loud and sound acceptable. The webcam is also acceptable and features a sliding cover. Battery life is good, lasting about five hours of continuous use. The main drawbacks of this laptop are the lack of a backlit keyboard, the inability to charge via USB-C, and the display's poor viewing angles. It's fine when viewed directly, but any slight change in angle results in a washed-out picture. That said, this laptop is probably best suited for someone who needs a barebones laptop capable of performing basic tasks while maintaining good performance. If that's your use case, you will be happy with this laptop.

The model I am reviewing has a touch pad that can also be a numerical pad. I am not quite sure of the purpose- there are numbers across the top like most keyboards. The numerical pad does not work like a calculator. I suppose it is to mimic the larger laptops that have the numbers to the right side. I have accidentally switched from touchpad to numbers (there is a spot in the top right corner of the touch pad that toggles between the two settings). I must have dragged my finger across it while typing and then gone to use the touchpad and a number pops up! When in the numeric setting, I do find it a little finicky. I push a number and it pops up twice (or more). It is very sensitive. I have also brought up a calculator on the screen accidentally when toggling between the touchpad and numeric pad. As a computer, this is a solid little machine. It seems quick and responsive. The keyboard is nice. I am used to a touch screen and find myself touching the screen to move the cursor but that is my issue, not the computer's! While typing this review, I have accidentally turned on the numeric pad while moving my fingers on the touch pad. Perhaps it was not the best idea. Lastly, the color is called "Quiet Blue" and it is very "quiet"- It looks black to me.

The ASUS-Vivobook 14 FHD Labtop Intel Core i5-12 GB Memory is light weight and pretty compact. I'm able to carry with me in a purse, backpack, and or labtop case. What I like about the labtop is that the touch mouse pad, also has a numerical pad, with the ability to turn the calculator on or off. I have never seen this before, so a cool feature. In addition the speed of the Vivobook. I enjoy watching videos and the volume of the labtop is good for me. There are ports to where you can plug in speakers, mouse, HDMI cord, etc. The keyboard size is good. Like the large keys, make it easy to type with. There are keyboard shortcuts that your able to use. The display of the screen is pretty clear, the speed of the labtop is good. Opening up browsers quickly and apps was done easily and quickly. The download speeds were fast. Overall pleased with the product. Pros: Quick Setup Large Key Size Great Speaker Built In Portable Light Weight Great For General Use Great For School Use Cons: None at this Time. Thank you for allowing me to test this product.

    Slow, but functional

This laptop is small, fairly light and functional. You can get the majority of basic tasks done with it. It runs Windows 11, so you have all the familiarity of other computers you may have been used to. With a click of the corner of the mousepad, you have a number pad available, although it is a little odd to get used to. Other than having something light you can check the internet with or do some basic productivity type it doesn’t have much more going for it. With that said, this has been one of the slowest laptops I have used in a good while. First off, it asks to connect to WiFi before you even get into Windows and you can only connect to 2.4Ghz. Then it took forever to run some updates, which essentially felt like it was trying to download the entire operating system. Then, once you finally get to the Windows details, you have to go through getting all of the updates for that as well. So, expect to spend the first couple hours of getting this laptop just to get it updated, despite having faster WiFi and internet available, the system just runs slow. I know this is a budget laptop, but it feels like there could be a few things that would really help, like having a backlit keyboard. They show the feature of a “lay flat” display, but the screen is not a touch screen, so it doesn't even feel like it should go that far. The power adapter is an old style tip and I have no idea why it’s not a USB PD connection at this point in time. Again, I know I don’t expect much but the screen on this has a very small sweet spot. Anything off center the slightest and it is either too dark or too bright to read anything. Overall, if you just need the barebones small, light laptop, this isn’t all that bad. However, I feel like there are better options out there. This one feels like it is lacking some common featured and too slow.

    A Mac user likes it

As a longtime Mac user who mostly uses a desktop Mac, I wanted to check out an inexpensive Windows laptop to keep my business records on. I have been pleasantly surprised my Windows Home 11. I have been going through the Linkedin Learning course on Windows 11 and have to admit I like Windows 11. The machine is reasonably fast. I like the trackpad option to use the trackpad as a keypad. Copilot works OK with typing, but cannot hold a conversation where I am now with an internet speed of 586 down/22 up. I tried it at home with 300 down/300 up and I could hold a conversation with Copilot. I am used to Chat GPT giving succinct answers on a Mac. Copilot gives an extensive long reply. I would say it this machine is worth the $349 I paid for it on sale.

Overall this a good product to buy if you aren't looking to work with big amounts of data. It is reliable, fast enough, and after a week of use is a very nice device to use. The keyboard is very nice and if you've used Windows before you will be very comfortable using it. Things I don't like is that the mousepad has a button that activates the calculator when you do certain movements. It is nice to have that option if you use this laptop for tracking expenses or if you are using a lot of numbers, but when surfing the Internet and trying to scroll up or down (using the mousepad) and you have your fingers too much to the right then it activates the calculator and the number pad at the same time. This is something you need to remember when using it to try and avoid that movement.

Excellent laptop for kids and basic work. Pros: 1. The hinges are centered so less chance of broken hinges unlike most of the laptops that come with double hinges on sides 2. Very sturdy material even though plastic. 3. 12GB RAM is a saver. Did not expect for this price. 4. 14" is a very good compact size to carry anywhere Cons: 1. Considering the price, I would only point to the asthetics which are not so good looking but adjustable. 2. First time I am trying Asus. Hope it meets expectations.

I feel that this laptop is a great device for the money. I am happy with its performance, and I am confident that it will do everything that I need it to do. My primary use for this is school and I will probably work on a small business in due time. I know I will be capable to doing both with ease. A lot of the reviews that I saw catered to creatives, which I am not. So, I would encourage you to really identify what is important to you before making the purchase. If you don't need an advanced screen that makes colors pop, then I feel like this device checks all of the other boxes. I hope this helps.

I’ve been using my ASUS laptop for the past few months, and overall, it’s been a solid performer. The build quality is sleek and durable, especially considering the price point. The display is vibrant with good color accuracy, making it great for both work and media consumption. Performance-wise, the laptop handles multitasking well.

Got this for my dad. Its nice, lightweight, and works well with everything he needs to do. The only downside is the mousepad area. Having thr numeric keypad there is quite annoying and was a challenge. So , I had to make an additional investment for a protable mouse.
