Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… that is the first thing that came to mind opening this Asus Vivobook 16. Its slate blue-gray color, keyboard, touchpad, and writing below the screen were reminiscent of “a” fruit company that also makes a 16” laptop.
The laptop features a bright, clear 16” screen running on an AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS with 12 GB of ram and 512 GB of storage space. The laptop, which comes in a hair over 4 pounds, is light and portable. It features all the usual connectivity options, from HDMI to USB-C and USB3 and USB2 connectors. The laptop features an easy-to-remove bottom case with an accessible SODIMM slot that allows for an easy upgrade of RAM should you require more. The retail packaging of the laptop is very eco-friendly recyclable cardboard that protects the laptop for shipping.
The usability and performance of the laptop are excellent, and it is perfect for a general-purpose laptop for everyday use for college or high school students. The keyboard is well spaced and placed, with an excellent clicky feeling, the touchpad is large and easy to use, and the camera, microphone, and speakers are good quality. There is not much to dislike about this laptop besides Windows S mode (which can be removed) and a shorter-than-expected battery run time. Overall, the laptop is light and built well enough that I am considering replacing my now-tired travel laptop.
So could you use it for gaming? Sure, the Radeon card is quite adept in playing games, just understand this is NOT a gaming laptop, and therefore the gaming performance is relatively light and kept in low to medium settings. I played some games, specifically Doom (2016) and Red Dead Redemption 2, and both ran perfectly fine. The CPU cooling fan came on with a loud whine, but at no point did I find the laptop overheating. Under gaming loads, the CPU does get warm, and the fan does kick in, but there are sufficient cooling vents, and the bottom is elevated to provide fresh air for cooling.
Should I buy this laptop? Yes, and depending on what you want in a general-purpose everyday laptop, this Asus Vivobook should fit the bill. The laptop is light in weight, has a bright and clear screen, and will quickly power through your day with enough processing power to satisfy you.

Solid Mid-Level Laptop

ASUS has released their Vivobook 16" laptop, and it appears to have most of the basics that the general population would be happy with. The package includes the laptop, AC adapter (2 connecting power cords), and quick user guide/paperwork. The laptop comes with a manufacturer's 1-year warranty.
PROS:
-----------
* The laptop feels solid overall, at the hinge point, and also the "feel" of the keys.
* Typing on the keyboard is relatively quiet with normal key spacing.
* The laptop uses a near-minimalist approach with most of the basics that most people would likely need.
* The webcam has a very small built-in cover which shows an orange dot when closed to make it clear when it is shut.
* Overall speed of the laptop is quite acceptable with the 12GB of RAM and 512SSD drive. Windows 11 is what it is, and this laptop is able to handle it nicely.
* Boot-up takes less than 10 seconds when not performing updates.
* After booting up, only 30-32% of the RAM is used, so you still have quite a bit remaining for daily tasks and even for watching video and browsing websites. Even after opening 2 busy websites on MS Edge and playing a Netflix movie, RAM only jumped to ~40% used.
* Rubber feet on the bottom keep it in place nicely.
* Ports available are adequate for average users - 3 USB, 1 USB-C, HDMI, power, and combo headphone/mic 3.5mm jack.
* Laptop has a no-glare screen for optimal viewing and has room at the top to open and shut without getting finger smudges on the top of the screen.
CONS:
-----------
* Upon powering up for the first time, I got an "Automatic Repair" screen. Thankfully, I was able to simply shut down the PC and restart, and Windows 11 setup started as it should have the first time. (see picture) I did not have any issues after that, but that was initially a little worrisome.
* Personally, I do not like having the power button as one of the keyboard keys. I have seen some other manufacturers also starting to do this. Instead of putting the power button on the side of the laptop or above the keyboard area, they are now putting the power button as part of the keyboard layout. The power button on this ASUS laptop is located in the far upper-right of the keyboard where many keyboards might have the DEL key which I use frequently. When using this keyboard, you will need to be careful not to use this key (muscle memory) or you could power down or cause your laptop to go to sleep in err.
* Most of the venting is on the bottom of the laptop. If you use this laptop in your lap, use a flat surface laptop holder so it doesn't overheat. (ie. try not to use on top of bedding or any surface which could block airflow on the bottom)
* The AC adapter power block has the permanent skinny cord coming off it at a 90-degree angle. I do not understand why this was done especially if the wire gets pulled taut. This could cause an electrical hazard if the unit starts to come apart at that point because of the wire being pulled too much.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
-----------
* This laptop does NOT have a touch screen, backlit keys, facial recognition (for login purposes), finger scanner, SD card reader, or optical drive. It is also not 4K video. It is HD resolution (1600x768). If these missing features are needed, you may need a workaround or explore other PC options.
* If more than 12GB of RAM is needed, you do have the option to purchase your own RAM and upgrade to up to 16GB. For most people that aren't gamers, 12GB should be enough.
CONCLUSION:
=====================
Overall, this is the perfect laptop for someone that is not a gamer and needs to use it for basic needs. Watching videos, checking email, running Microsoft Office and other non-intensive tasks are easily done with this machine. The Ryzen 7 can handle these things with ease along with 512GB SSD being a decent amount of storage for the average user. If more ports are needed than the ones provided, a hub could be purchased as well. This is a good solid laptop at a don't-break-the-bank price point. I'd recommend if you don't need all the bells and whistles of higher-end laptops.

I've been using the ASUS Vivobook 16" Laptop for a few weeks now, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and design. Here's a breakdown of what makes this laptop a great choice:
**Design and Build Quality:**
The first thing that stands out about the Vivobook is its sleek design and attractive Quiet Blue finish. It looks modern and professional, making it suitable for both work and casual use. The laptop is relatively lightweight for its size, which makes it easy to carry around without feeling bulky. The build quality is solid, with a sturdy chassis that feels durable and well-constructed.
**Performance:**
Equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS processor, the Vivobook delivers excellent performance. Whether I'm multitasking with several applications open or running demanding software, the laptop handles everything smoothly. The 12GB of memory ensures that there are no lags, even when I'm working with large files or doing light video editing. The 512GB SSD provides fast boot times and quick access to files, which is a big plus for productivity.
**Display:**
The 16-inch display is another highlight of this laptop. The Full HD resolution provides sharp and clear visuals, making it great for watching videos, working on graphic design projects, or just browsing the web. The colors are vibrant, and the screen brightness is sufficient for most indoor environments. However, in very bright conditions, it can be a bit reflective, but it's not a dealbreaker.
**Battery Life:**
The battery life of the Vivobook is decent, lasting around 6-8 hours on a full charge with moderate use, which includes browsing, streaming, and some document editing. While it might not last an entire day without a charge, it's sufficient for most daily needs, and the fast-charging feature is a great addition when I need to quickly top up the battery.
**Keyboard and Trackpad:**
Typing on the Vivobook is a pleasant experience. The keyboard is comfortable with well-spaced keys that have a satisfying tactile feel. The backlit feature is useful for working in low-light environments. The trackpad is large and responsive, supporting multi-touch gestures smoothly, which is great for productivity.
**Connectivity:**
The laptop comes with a good selection of ports, including USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and a headphone jack, which covers most of my connectivity needs. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 ensures fast and stable internet connections, which is excellent for streaming and video calls.
**Conclusion:**
Overall, the ASUS Vivobook 16" Laptop is an impressive machine that offers great value for its price. It combines powerful performance with a sleek design, making it an ideal choice for both professionals and casual users. Whether you're looking for a reliable work laptop or a device

PROS:
- The Vivobook is beautifully designed! It looks very sleek and modern, and I especially love how thin the bezels are around the screen. The slim design makes it feel very lightweight and easy to bring around which was a big perk!
- If you have used Windows 11 before, then this setup is really a breeze! Like setting up any laptop from any maker, just makes you go through the initial questions on setting up and signing in with an account. But very easy process overall.
- Speaking of that, the screen is gorgeous! It’s a 16 inch screen but really does not feel that big which is nice. It provides very vivid colors and I was impressed with how immersive it feels with the screen size.
- The typing and stylus are also fantastic on it! Love the oversized stylus on is to make for easier use and the keys feel very fluid while typing and make for an easy experience.
- The RAM and memory on this are legit too! I had a number of applications running at the same time and I never felt like it was too overpowering or was getting too hot. I was also able to game on it which was great thanks to the graphics card and I loved the picture quality for gaming as well!
- The built in webcam with the voice isolation microphone were great for video calls as well! It’s really nice to have the built in privacy shade on the laptop too.
CONS:
- I wish it charged via USB-C instead of its “DC IN” port charger. It can still charge via its singular USB-C port, but it feels like a waste of a port space when the DC IN can only be used to charge vs a USB-C port that can do much more!
BOTTOM LINE:
- ASUS has always been known to build fantastic laptops and this new Vivobook 16” is no exception! It has a great sleek build, beautify big screen, fast processor and memory, but still feels portable and easy to work with everywhere I need it to work. At this price point, you would be hard pressed to find a laptop to better than this one!

This is good value for the price if what you are after is performance. The CPU, SSD and RAM all hit above average for the price range, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the laptop I received has a 1920x1200 screen (16:10 aspect ratio).
There are some corners that were cut to achieve the value price though:
- The chassis is plastic (doesn't affect me at all)
- Speakers are weak (plan on using headphones whenever possible)
- They keyboard is not backlit
- No GPU (can still handle eSports titles okay)
- No dock connectivity options (Thunderbolt, USB+Display port hybrid, it does have HDMI so you can connect one external screen)
All of this puts this laptop at the higher end of the "value" category if what you value is performance above all. The only reason I'm docking a star is the lack of backlit keyboard (that is enough of a standard feature today I didn't even bother to check) and the fact that some of the information on the product listing page was just wrong, most notably the screen is 1920x1200 (a happy surprise, but still a surprise) not 1920x1080 or 1366x768 as the page lists.

This laptop is a solid choice for users seeking a balance between performance and portability. With Windows 11 Home, a 16" FHD screen, a powerful R7-5800HS processor, 12GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB SSD, it delivers efficient multitasking and fast storage.
Its slim and lightweight design makes it easily portable, although it lacks a DVD/CD drive. HDMI and WiFi 6 connectivity provide expanded display options and faster, more reliable internet connections.
The Chiclet keyboard is comfortable for typing, and it comes with a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365. Overall, it's a versatile and powerful laptop that suits a variety of tasks, from gaming to graphic design work.

Purchased this laptop for my mother. Very fast machine, good storage amount for her use case. Very quiet. The only complaint I have heard from her is it has Windows 11.
I put Chrome and Firefox on it and that seemed to solve the bulk of the concerns. My sister likes the machine as well with the (you guessed it) exception that it is running Windows 11.
In purchasing it, I did not notice that it did not have a dedicated Ethernet port. Given the close proximity to the router it was not a big deal. If you are replacing a machine that was connected by Ethernet or looking to use this for a business then you may need to obtain a USB to Ethernet adapter.
Screen is well lit and good for reading everything from email to ebooks/pdf content. Does not hurt the eyes.
Mom was pleasantly surprised that she could take it with her around the house and not have to worry about the battery running out. As she was used to using an older (6th gen) I3 machine that had to remain plugged in. Battery lasted about 3.5 hours before she went to do something else.

ASUS Quality, Slightly Above the Average

ASUS is one of my favorite brands for personal computers; be it basic computing, or gaming. I've owned several, along with other well-known brands of PCs. ASUS rarely disappoints. And this Vivobook lived up to my reasonable expectations.
Getting this ASUS Vivobook up and running out of the box was pretty straightforward. Be sure to take the time to install all those lovely updates to the Windows operating system. I'm still "making friendly" with Windows 11, as I prefer 10. There were some default settings I needed to change to make the computer able to perform as I required, but after that, we were good to go.
What immediately struck me is how pretty this Vivobook is. The matte color - Quiet Blue - is quite striking. I actually kinda love it.
Now, this model ASUS is a basic computer, not designed for gaming, but what I always do when trying out any new PC is run it through it's paces via a Benchmark test, as well as, install an MMORPG. This Vivobook rated 'Slightly Low' for the Benchmark test. However, it did perform adequately when I tried playing some World of Warcraft at mid-range settings; with an average of around 60 fps.
As for the on-board speakers ... 'eh, they are what you'd expect from your average laptop PC. The audio is clear, but you might want to connect a Bluetooth speaker, or use a good headset to boost that sound.
The touch pad is huge, with a built-in fingerprint sensor; if you choose to use that. There is a 'webcam shield' slider, simple yet effective, for those wanting to protect their privacy. The display screen offers clear and crisp visuals. Yet what I find super cool (or maybe it's the geek in me), is the edgy graphic on the Enter key. This minor addition draws the eye, making the key stand out, so it's easier to find and press.
A really interesting feature this ASUS Vivobook has is an - 'Antibacterial Guard.' That is, the most frequently touched surface areas on the laptop have been "treated" with this antibacterial technology, which lasts up to 3 years and won't be washed away when you clean those surfaces. This is actually particularly useful, especially in this day and age.
Overall, this ASUS Vivobook is an above-average basic laptop PC. The price is fair, it's well made, and looks modern. Recommend.

For the price you are paying (at the time of making this it was around $510), this laptop brings quality in terms of performance systematically. Great speed, connectivity, and performance for doing more advance business activities. Speakers are below average but I usually only use my speakers for business purposes and it serve loud enough. The display is large enough and with an aluminum body, its not as heavy as I expected. I cant open this laptop with one hand, and to me its a good thing for making the laptop accident proof. Battery life is decent but a full charge is not as long as competition. Overall its a great budget laptop, with a few cons but if you use for business purposes like me, it not a bad option.

I got this on sale for $380 and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve used a MacBook Pro for the past 14 years and dont get me wrong, Apple is the standard, but this one for the price is a no brainer. I needed a Windows laptop so I could practice programming and IT work on both operating systems. Pros: big screen, decent battery, smooth operating system, sleek design and good number of ports. I can’t complain too much about the cons because like I said it was $380. The only thing out I wish I had is a back-lit keyboard.

I recently purchased the ASUS VivoBook 16" laptop equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS processor, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in every aspect.
First and foremost, the performance is exceptional. The Ryzen 7 5800HS processor delivers blazing-fast speeds, whether I'm multitasking between several applications or tackling demanding tasks like photo editing and gaming. The 12GB of memory ensures smooth performance even with multiple tabs open, and the 512GB SSD provides ample storage for all my files without compromising on speed.
One of the standout features of this laptop is its sleek design. The Quiet Blue color scheme adds a touch of elegance, making it stand out from the crowd. The 16" display is vibrant and immersive, perfect for binge-watching movies or getting lost in productivity tasks. Additionally, the slim and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around, ideal for professionals on the go.
The keyboard is comfortable to type on, with well-spaced keys and adequate travel distance. The backlit keyboard is a nice touch, especially for working in low-light environments. The touchpad is responsive and supports multi-touch gestures, enhancing the overall user experience.
In terms of connectivity, the VivoBook 16" has all the ports I need, including USB Type-A and Type-C ports, HDMI, and a headphone/microphone combo jack. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 ensures fast and reliable wireless connectivity, perfect for streaming and online gaming.
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the ASUS VivoBook 16" laptop. It combines powerful performance, sleek design, and portability into one impressive package. Whether you're a professional looking for a reliable workhorse or a casual user in need of a versatile multimedia device, the VivoBook 16" ticks all the boxes. Highly recommended!

Very nice laptop.
I come from 20 years of Macbook pro, I think I had 6 or 7 of them. We still have a 16" and 13" latest model that we can compare this Asus to.
This Vivobook replaced a Macbook pro 15" which was a few years old, although it does not have the thin body, sleek finish and Retina display of the Apple laptop it come very close, enough to make it a worth substitute at 1/4 of the price.
Performance wise is very good for Photoshop and Video editing, not mentioning trading the stock market with more than one application running at the same time.
This Vivobook was working already fine with its factory 12gb or ram, but since Ram is cheap, I replaced the 4gb module with a 16gb by Crucial, for a total of 24gb of ram, which makes it future proof for the next 3 or 4 years for working tasks and probably for the next 10 years for just browsing and writing.
It is very fast at networking with another PC desktop and with our NAS unit.
Windows 11 is great and has fresh interface compared to previous versions and has nothing to envy to Mac OSX these days.
I will probably buy 2 more of these laptops for my teenager twins. At 450$ you cannot go wrong.
It is made with quality components: the motherboard is by Asus of course, which is one of the best motherboard manufacturers in the world and SSD and RAM are by Samsung. The AMD CPU and integrated CPU are very snappy and give very fluid operation without lag or anything, especially after upgrading the ram to 24gb.
It is a plus that we can upgrade RAM on this laptop, especially at this price point, Lenovo has everything soldered to the motherboard and you cannot upgrade it.

I am replacing a Lenovo which never worked right and then died without that much use. I also have had and use HP Laptops, Pavillon and Envys. This ASUS if far superior. Fast, nicely portioned screen for word processing and emails. Picky downsides are: wish had at least one more USB port. Speakers and camera not the best. As others have noted, the key pad is slim, so takes getting used to.

The Asus Vivobook 16X is a total game changer! It's super fast processing speeds allow for seamless multitasking regardless of how many applications are open at the same time, I have yet to experience any lag, even with having 40+ browsing tabs open, along with 4 or 5 different applications I use for work, it just keeps on performing like the powerhouse it is!
The 16" display is surprisingly stunning, almost as if it were an OLED display! The colors are nice and vivid, and I could easily watch a movie on Netflix with this laptop and feel like I'm watching it on a 4k TV!
The "Chiclet" keyboard is great! The keys are nice and firm when typing, and are nicely spaced out even with having the included number pad on the layout. I absolutely love the keyboard, and honestly prefer using it over my desktop!
As for the battery life, even though I have seen other reviews claiming it to be an issue of not lasting long, I personally have not experienced this myself. The battery life has actually impressed me, especially for a laptop of this size and specs. It lasts me roughly 9 hours or so before needing to be charged, even with continuous use and multitasking!
Overall, with this laptop having a stunning Full HD 16" large display, paired with the Ryzen 7 5800 Series Processor, 12GB DDR4 Ram, and amazing keyboard, it makes this the perfect laptop for anyone looking for performance and flexibility. I definitely would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you catch it on sale for a good deal!!

At first when I found this computer my main concern was the screen size, since I will use this for school I was scared it might not fit on the small desks at my school. The reason for this was because I have a 17 inch hp omen laptop already which scared me into getting a 16 inch. But it is actually a big difference and it’s actually a pretty good size. The other thing I was worried about once I got the laptop was the battery but after testing it from 100% to 0% it gave me about 6 hours which is a avg school day. The audio quality is terrible though, you should maybe use headphones because the built in speakers are really bad, so if you are going to watch movies and videos on this consider getting some headphones as well. Overall I would recommend it for anyone doing light tasks, or every day work. Honestly I got this for $479 and for the specs that is a great deal compared to all the other laptops I’ve seen in the market recently, I wish it had a fingerprint scanner for the price but the specs on this kicks that out.

I bought this product as a birthday gift for my son who loves gaming. The pros and cons of this product are as follows; however, the performance for the price is excellent, and he's having no issues playing games smoothly.
Pros:
Powerful Processor: The AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS processor delivers excellent performance, catering to a wide range of tasks. It's ideal for multitasking and high-performance workloads.
Large Display: The 16-inch display expands your workspace, making it great for multimedia consumption and productivity. It allows for an immersive content viewing experience.
Memory and Storage Capacity: With 12GB of memory, it provides sufficient performance for most tasks, and the 512GB SSD enables fast boot times and file access.
Design and Color: The "Quiet Blue" color option stands out with its unique and captivating hue. The product design is sleek and modern.
Portability: The relatively light weight and slim design enhance the laptop's portability, making it convenient to carry on the go.
Cons:
Limited Color Options: While the "Quiet Blue" color might be appealing to some, those looking for more traditional color choices might be disappointed.
GPU Performance: The laptop's integrated graphics might struggle with demanding graphics tasks such as gaming or intensive video editing. A dedicated GPU could provide better performance in these scenarios.
Keyboard and Trackpad: Some users might find the keyboard and trackpad quality to be average, affecting the overall typing and navigation experience.
Battery Life: The laptop's larger display and powerful processor could lead to relatively shorter battery life compared to smaller and more energy-efficient laptops.
Upgrade Limitations: The configuration might have limited upgrade options in the future, as certain components could be soldered or non-upgradeable.

Pros:
the size and weight are perfect.
Large display is a plus.
The keyboard size is great, good feel and it's quiet.
For the price, you get a fast processor and plenty of memory.
Battery life is excellent.
Provided ports are adequate for my needs.
Cons:
I would have preferred a USB charging port rather than a traditional charger.
The screen is pretty good, though it could be a bit brighter.
Audio could definitely be louder, the speakers are just OK.
Windows 11 S-Mode - what a pain, I killed that right away.
Conclusion: all in all, a very good general purpose laptop at a great price point.
