Does not respond to commands & it quit last Sunday

Still the screen often does not respond to the mouse, i.e., click on a box & start typing & nothing happens or check boxes & the checks do not show up. Also, it hangs at times where nothing can be done then after several seconds to a couple of minutes it resumes. Two days ago that "hang" ended w/ a black screen and could not get it back until the next day. Battery logo would sometimes save it is powered but not charging even though it was plugged in...pushing harder on the connectors did not fix that.
