Horrible Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Asus laptop of this make. The first one I bought completely and totally died a few weeks (no more than 4 weeks) after I had bought it. I used it for my school work and lost all of my notes, papers, and projects-- they weren't able to recover anything from it. While I was using it, the laptop screen went completely dark. Thinking the battery had died, I tried charging it but nothing would light up and the laptop wouldn't turn on. I took it to the Best Buy where I had bought it a couple weeks prior, where they told me I had just gotten a "lemon of a laptop" and there was nothing they could do to fix it. They traded me the dead laptop for an exact same, new laptop. I've now had that laptop they gave me for about a year and half. Now, my display is completely messed up. My screen constantly has a green tint to it and when I switch between various windows on the laptop, the previous window I was on remains in the background in pink of the window I am currently on. I called Asus and they estimated that the problem will be $500 to fix... more than half the price this laptop is currently valued at. I absolutely would NOT recommend this laptop to anyone and at this point will just buy another laptop of another brand. With the experience I've had, I will never buy another Asus product.

Works when it wants to.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within minutes of set up and updates tried to make recovery disk since it comes with none. After several minutes says can't make recovery drive. Tried several times. Figured well maybe it has to update. Still won't do it. Then it started to disconnect from WiFi randomly and won't let me reconnect for hours sometime. Then when I do reconnect it just randomly goes places as if the keys are stuck. But it does work sometimes. LOL

If I could return this....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If there is a computer I have ever "hated" this would be it. It is slow, and the ASUS proprietary software is like a parasite, invading every task I try. I have had this laptop for 4 months and have used it 3 times out of necessity. Each task takes 4 x longer than normal because of the constant ASUS intrusions. I have tried removing the apps, but they seem to multiply like tribbles. Never ever again - I'm going back to Dell.

Best Purchase!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is AMAZING for the cost. It even has a number pad and DVD/CD-ROM capabilities, which a lot of laptops don't have anymore! Love it so far!

NEVER BUY ANY ASUS PRODUCT EVER!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Warning: If you buy any ASUS product, in my case a higher end laptop, and it breaks (manufactures warranty or not) THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS COMPLETELY USELESS. Had repeated and various problems and sent back laptop (4) times, all refurbished and non-functional. After the fourth time, I was promised a new model, still in the litigation process, been a month now and they are trying to send me another refurbished same model. I work as a supervisor in State Government and will do everything in my limited power to use a different company for Government business. Best Buy was excellent, and fully understand that models break down, but was severely disappointed in the customer service from ASUS. Buyer be extremely cautious. I just lost 1200$ to ASUS and have nothing to show for it. I was always told how great of a company ASUS was and how great their components are but that is NO LONGER TRUE! They have not won any significant awards since 2013 (you can look that up) and are no longer this great company. I bought the computer 11 months ago and have not had the computer in my possession for 4 of those 11 months. Here is my story, if you want the details of what I went through: I bought an ASUS notebook (Republic of Gamers) in 12/2015.....it failed in April 2015 for a failed component in my charger, it fried my daughter board, sent into their repair center....3 weeks later got the same model back and fixed...it failed AGAIN in July 2015 with a failed Intel Graphics card.... sent back to repair center....ANOTHER 3 weeks later got the same computer back fixed......failed AGAIN in Aug. 2015, failed NVIDA graphics card....sent in to repair...3 weeks later got a refurbished same model replacement.....had that for 3 weeks then failed AGAIN when a component failed in my screen....sent back in to repair center...3 weeks later got MY 2ND REFURBISHED same model and it came BROKEN!! It didn’t even work when I got it. I sent that model in the repair center, got there 11/4, they mixed up my RMA number so I did not match my serial number, took a week to figure that you, I was promised by their top supervisors that with this many failed model I would be eligible for a new, upgraded different model replacement. Couldn’t get ahold of the supervisor I have been talking to, she was avoiding my phone calls. I got an email from the support center that they are offering me AGAIN, THE SAME MODEL REFURBISHED replacement for the 3rd time. If I was to reject this offer, and they choose not to offer me anything else, they said they are going to SEND BACK MY BROKEN COMPUTER and that would be it! The customer support said they actually have nothing to do with what replacement you would get. It’s all up to the repair center, and you cannot speak to the repair center, because, “it is not in their job description to talk to the public.” All this has happened while in the manufactures warranty. I bought the computer 11 months ago and have not had the computer in my possession for 4 of those 11 months. Once again, beware, if you decide to go with ASUS because you are risking hundreds or thousands of dollars (in my case).

So far so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this laptop. It's light and not as heavy as my other ones. People said that their wifi kept disconnecting every 10 minutes. Mine never did that and I always have it on to use at least 5 hours each day. Everything is very fast. Loving it!!!

Very fragile
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very low quality laptop. For the price, I expected bare bones features, but the case and keyboard are very flimsy. I have kids, and with the laptop closed, a relatively small toy dropped on it. Cracked the screen and no warranty for that type of damage. I'm now using an external screen and external keyboard to still get use out of it. I have 2 HP laptops that have gotten regular abuse from my kids over the past 3-4 years and are still working fine. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for. Don't expect durability with this product.

Incorrect keyboard signs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm so angry right now cos I have a flight to catch in less than 24 hrs n I still don't know whether to return the laptop or not. I tried pressing shift 2 in order to write the @ sign instead it was giving me the " sign, likewise when you press the # key it gives you the £ key instead. Also the battery keeps telling me different percentages that doesn't match at first is showed 94% 5 hours remaining then after 10mins again it showed 90% 7 hours remaining. I think they sold a defect system to me. Those were my observations within 20mins of use. I'm sure there will be other defects hiding somewhere. I only gave it 2 rating cos it's light n looks sleek

So Slow!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know what's with all these reviews...I've always gotten real cheap laptops, usually Toshiba for the same price as this Asus but good god is this thing slow from the moment I started it. It'll take like 20 seconds just to open control panel, internet will constantly freeze, I tried everything I could to get it to run faster. Finally brought it back to Best Buy and Geek squad told me nothing's wrong with it, it's just a piece of trash. Thank god they let me return it
