The notebook design is worse than anything you could think of. The vent openings are on the bottom which effectively means you CAN NOT use it without a cooling pad. After 20-30 minutes of placing it on a flat surface, it overheats. The same goes for speakers. They ARE LOCATED on the bottom. A $1000+ notebook with the sound of your granny's deep pot. Not to mention the lack of a fingerprint reader, which is nonsense these days. The charging adapter and cable are below par. The charging cable sits loose and can break (it actually did). Asus notebooks are off my list for the rest of my life.

Great, with a couple flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just wrote out this entire review and it deleted so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet with some pros and cons. Pros!! 1- amazing battery life: I've gotten close to it dying while watching Netflix because I wasn't really paying attention to the battery but I can get a good 5 or so hours of streaming. 2- super fast: this laptop runs better than my desktop computer because of the RAM and i7 processor. It ran multiple tabs open on Photoshop and Google Chrome just fine, and ran the Sims 4 with ultra graphics and every expansion pack with ease. 3- light! As a student I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be carrying around a super heavy laptop, so when I picked this up in the store I was surprised to find that it was one of the lightest laptops. Despite its light weight, it doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Some cons: 1- fan is super loud: after opening the lid and taking the laptop out of sleep mode, the fan starts going absolutely bonkers, spinning super fast and making a whole lot of noise. It never slows down either; the only way to stop it is to shut it down, wait for the fan to shut off, and turn it on again, which is not something that I want to continue doing every single time I shut the lid and open it again. This is definitely my biggest gripe because of how annoying it is. 2- adaptive brightness: this feature seems to always be on without a way to turn it off, which sucks because it can get pretty bright, especially when using it at night. 3- touchpad: the touchpad is cool, I love that you can just press the calculator and it turns into a calculator, but I wish there was a way to disable it when I don't wish to press it while typing because of the way I rest my hands. Overall, the laptop is very good, and I can't wait to use it more, hopefully with a quieter fan.
