It works great if you are not at home and need to let someone in.

Installation is very straightforward and easy to accomplish. It involves retrofitting your existing deadbolt lock rather than a wholesale replacement which is nice. This assumes your existing lock is a SINGLE cylinder (i.e., it won't work if you have a DOUBLE cylinder deadbolts). The smartphone app is simple and easy to use to configure the lock via Bluetooth. Pair it with the optional August Connect and you can remotely lock/unlock your deadbolt lock from anywhere. Furthermore, if you use it with IFFFT you can receive SMS text message alerts whenever your deadbolt is unlocked or locked. Also, I particularly like the ability to have the lock automatically unlock for me when I'm approaching the door -- especially when my hands are full and I don't have to fumble for the keys. My only complaint is the bulky cylindrical knob that encases the deadbolt. It is a bit of an eyesore and unwieldy to manually lock/unlock the deadbolt from the inside.

Overall the lock is pretty good. Easy to install and works good. I really like this auto unlock feature but you have to remember to have wifi on your cell phone or it won't work. The auto lock feature is pretty glitchy so I don't use it. It would constantly lock and unlock.

Easy to install and load app. Good way to track when owners/assigned guests come in and out.

I upgraded from the Kevo to this because I wanted access to the lock feature when not in Bluetooth range. The August connect for an extra $50 is essential. Kevo will have something similar but with an annual fee if/when it comes out. Overall, a very convenient home automation product. Would be nice if it had a few more options like the ability to automatically unlock or stay unlocked when in BT range.

The install of the lock was quick, but setup and connecting it to my Andriod was much more difficult and I am pretty tech savvy. Getting the new firmware update failed twice. After a successful firmware update, getting the lock to connect via Bluetooth was equally a pain and took a long time to connect to the lock. After a couple of days, I decided to get the August WiFi add on, as the Bluetooth connection was so inconsistent. That did not help much at all. In short, the product could be great if they fix the performance issues. It was faster for me to just use my keys.

The Smart Lock was very easy to install and it worked right out of the box with no problems. We added the wireless network interface to allow control when away from home.

The door lock works like a charm out of the box. The battery life is great! 4 months after I bought it, it wouldn't open the door half the time. The magnetic cover is a little annoying as it sometimes falls off when your turning the doorknob

Installation was simple & quick. It works exactly like they say it will. I really enjoy walking up to my front door and having the door unlock. I also like having the full internet available to allow friends to come in while I'm at work. The best lock available. I feel safe with this lock.

The lock is easy to manage and install. At times it may act up by not connecting to the lock and if it is turned too hard while opening manually then it could become damaged. Their customer support is great however and they sent me a new lock with no questions asked. There may be better locks out there but this one is pretty cool.

High quality build materials. I wish there was a way to lock and unlock by physical contact with the outside facing lock when bluetooth device is within close proximity.

I love this smart lock! And I have found it to be quite reliable too. There was a software update shortly after I purchased it (July 2015) that I believe addressed issues with speed and/or reliability. It's quick and easy, and the Auto-Unlock and EverLock features work nicely. The only times I've seen it not perform as desired are when my wife's older phone has been running out of memory, and then closing some apps and/or rebooting has taken care of the issue. Great for not having to fumble for keys or even your phone (with Auto-Unlock enabled). Love the new Apple Watch app too!

The August lock is awesome works very well the only way they could improve it is to make it free . Great for security when your hands are full or when the kids need to get in and left their key. We would recommend it to anyone. Great Housewarming Gift.

I've had no problems with it and it's very cool how it automatically unlocks the door when you get within a certain distance

Half the time it does not work. I use this with an iphone 7 and 300 Mbps internet wifi at home, there should be little to no reason for the app to randomly not connect and leave you outside scrambling for your keys that you put away cause you thought this device would serve it's purpose. I'd say it works about 60%-70% of the time, which for me warrants it useless. I have to walk up to the door with keys in hand cause who knows if it'll open or not. And then there are some times when it just starts to open when you get to the door even though you have it set for as far away from the house as possible. Other times I think it would be quicker to open the app and manually open it, but the app shows the lock as grey and unable to access it. I've reset it several times to see if this helps, but no. This happens regardless of battery life too. Guests who I invite on the app and give access for a day to (this feature is very cool if it actually worked) are left outside half the time and need to wait for me to get home... I could go on and on. I have all the smart home gadgets, this is the only one that doesn't work properly, Nest is a beast.

Set up is not the easiest but once you have it set up I love that it locks itself after a preset amount of time and it unlocks itself when you approach the door! Perfect for the forgetful person in your life that does not remember to lock the door. This is also a great product for somebody that has friends or family that comes over when you're not home and you can grant them access to your house by giving them a digital key and granting them access at a specified time. All they have to do is open the app sign up for the app with the information you put into August and hit the unlock button!!!

I purchased this item and the wireless adapter so we could lock and unlock the door via the internet. Installation in the door was extremely easy. The part that was a little challenging was the setup between the lock and Connect Adapter. It took longer then it should have (about half an hour). It had a difficult time finding the device. Once complete though, the product has worked perfectly.

Is a good option in order to keep your door close, my issue: syncing. sometimes you can open the app and sync the phone with the device. and some of the features I'm having issues, I'm not getting notifications to my phone when people open the door, etc...
