I would not recommend buying these online without going in to your local best buy to test drive them and compare them to the others. That being said, I love these headphones in contrast to the others. The bass is great but needs to be toned down with a EQ. The Highs are crisp and the Mids come through clearly. People give these a bad rating because they expect to get $1500 studio quality for $400 price tag, period. They are built very well and feel very sturdy. I listen to everything from Eminem to Disturbed to Alanis Morissette to Mary J. Blidge, so believe me when I say that these headphones sound great with any music. BUT... Remember to adjust the EQ for different styles. a Rap EQ won't sound good for a Rock song because usually the bass will drown the Mids of the guitars, etc. The headphone are a bit heavy but, for $400 they better be! They are built like a tank! I usually take a break about 2 hours or so in for 10 minutes then right back at it. The best thing to me is that these have to be cranked up really really loud to leak. Now if you had the Studios like I did this is a hugh improvement! The Beats Studios leak worse that cheap pampers. But the Pros conceal the music very well. Overall I love these headphones, but like I said just go to best buy if you can and try them before you buy them. Or check out some videos on youtube that show you some of the qualities.

    good headphones, but bad price.

Headphones just like music tastes are very subjective so here are my observations. Good: tighter bass than the beats: studio, but still has that muddy bass sound. They are definitely more sturdier than the Studios. Bad: Price is definitely an issue. For $400, you can find better headphones and buy a DAC/amp combo right around the same price. Useless carrying case, the studios came with an awesome hard carrying case, yet the flagship model comes with some sort of faux leather carrying case. The circle shaped cushion design is puzzling, so those of you with larger ears will hate this design. conclusion & recommendations: It is hard to believe that these cans are used in recording studios as it is advertised on the beats website. They're just not precise enough, the highs tend to just roll off on certain tracks and the mids are commendable when they can be heard, otherwise the lows still tend to overshadow everything. These aren't terrible headphones as some will lead you to believe, they're actually decent, just not at $400. Just based on sound quality, maybe around $100 to $150 max. If you're looking for a great portable headphone at the $400 range, get the Sennheiser Momentums ($350), Bowers & Wilkins p5 ($300), or beyerdynamic dt 1350 ($230). If you're looking for some very good "studio" headphones, try the AKG k550 ($300), the Sennheiser hd650 ($500), or the Grado ps500 ($500). My final advice, try before you buy.

Didn't think headphones could sound this good

SOUND: These headphones are EXACTLY what I'm looking for with sound – clean, clear, and loud with, in my opinion, the perfect blend of highs, mids and, obviously from Dre, lows. Not to go on a bass-rant, but the bass from these headphones is truly impressive – they hit lows at volume levels I didn't even think possible with a set of headphones. Combining this powerful low-end with punchy mids and crisp highs makes for a truly absorbing listening experience. COMFORT: My first impression wasn't the greatest on the comfort aspect… The ear-cup shape does not fully surround my ears (like the Beats Studios do) and they were EXTEREMLY tight – to the point I'd get a pressure headache just wearing them. After stretching them around a basketball for a few hours they significantly improved. They still get a little uncomfortable after extended use, but I assume they're still breaking in… VALUE: I really didn't do a TON of shopping around as I quickly noticed – nothing seemed to compare. These are not the most comfortable headphones, but they have that PERFECT sound I am looking for, they DO NOT REQUIRE BATTERIES, they are obviously durable, they fold up nicely, and, I know "true enthusiasts" don't care about this, but I also love how they look.

Not what I expected from Monster & Dr Dre

I bought these headphones because of the reviews I read about how great they where etc… When I started to use them, they have an extremely tight squeezing effect while wearing them. That made it uncomfortable to wear; also the weight is crazy heavy for a “studio” type headphone that people wear for hours and hours every day. The sound was good but it’s defiantly not spectacular for what I expected for the price. I returned the headphones just after two days of buying them. I was very dissatisfied by the product. Also a side note when I did return them, I was the 5th person that day to return “Beats headphones” so that has to say something… For the price of these headphones I am buying a custom pair of professional in-ear headphones with 3 drivers in each ear.

These headphones open up the music that I have always listened to a whole knew level. The range is amazing and the bass really kicks. It's like being in a studio listening in. Can't wait to let my friends hear what they have been missing. Even though the price is up there a bit I still would by them again. Everyone at the gym keeps asking about them and take a quick listen. They are rather large but they handle everything with ease. They can also be used as speakers and handles the highest volumes without distortion. It will be extremely hard to ever go back to regular headphones after experiencing music through these.

If your gonna buy Beats You gotta go for the Pro's

The Pro Beats are way better than the studio's i had. The price tag is a little extra but i think its well worth it. They are definetly more comfortable than the studios, becasue of the soft cushions that fit around your ears. They do not need batteries like the Studios and do a much better job of blocking exterior noises. They are heavier than the studios but thats becasue they are a lot stronger and durable. These are definetly the best pair of beats out their so far( hint the name Pro) i have the tour, gaga, solo, and studio beats which i use for different occassions but the Pro beats are by far the best ones, sound quality and durablity is amazing. I use them every single day while im at school doing homework, becasue they help me concentration and blcok out all the distractions around me especially those loud annoying people.

I have a feeling that you might be paying for that snazzy looking "b" on the side of the headphones in a lot of the 399.99 USD cost. Where to start, I own some nice IEMs by Klipsch S4, X5 but had never stepped into the high end Over Ear or On Ear headphone category. This could be considered my first foray into the category, but I have auditioned other phones like the Beyerdynamic MT770, Audiotechnica ATH-M50, and the like. And to me the sound is close enough (if not better) on those that 400 USD seems a bit much. The build quality is amazing on these headphones, however, and I believe they might hold up under extensive use compared to other headphones. The sound is different, and at first I wasn't much for the way my music sounded. However after having listened for 20-ish hours I like it quite a lot. The music is right up front, and sounds quite decent. A tad bit bass heavy, but nothing like the Studios by Dre; in fact to compare the Pros to the Studios is completely impossible the Pros are miles ahead. I would definitely listen to them first as they might have a little too much bass for some, especially if you are planning on listening to lighter music like acoustic, or classical (but I don't think you are the target audience of these headphones). Just so you have reference I listen to rock, metal, alt-rock, dubstep, techno, house, drum'n'bass, hip-hop, and a few other similar genres. So my preferences are pretty biased towards a strong punchy bass, and the Beats by Dre Pros deliver on that without crowding out the other sounds!

Highly Recommend If You Can Afford!

I had been wanting the Beats by Dr. Dre Pro's for almost a year but just couldn't bring myself to drop that kind of coin on myself. Fortunately I got them as a Christmas gift! If you can afford these I highly recommend them. The sound quality is incredible and they are really well-built and durable. I know some have complained about the fit / comfort but that is actually one of the reasons I liked them. Granted I am a big guy so perhaps they are best suited for my rather large head. However, I've been on a couple of road trips with them that featured extended use of multiple hours or more and have had no issues with discomfort. The non-tangle cord is incredible too! I guess my biggest complaint is that they don't come with a hard case for storage and travel, which is surprising considering the price.

Not that great for DJ, only to use once in a while

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Hi, I got these headphones for one reason basically, looks. Which they are really good. And they are extremely well made. I've had a lot of complains about them though. I DJ in clubs around the world, and I needed something that won't break while traveling. These have done an amazing job on that part. That's the only good thing I would say about them. The sound is alright. AND THE LONG CORD IS AMAZING! And the locking right insert headphone cable. With my precious headphones (solo HD), they would come off from time to time if moved in certain way and they break after around 3 times of a drop from about 6 feet. The problems on the Pros are definitely the weight. They are too heavy to comfortably keep on head for a whole entire event. Now I always keep emm on my shoulder and put one ear up on when I cue up. The swivel earcup is a really nice feature too. These headphones put a lot of pressure on your temples! And in the middle of the top of your head. I think I will purchase the Mixr next. They are exactly like the Pros, but the weight is pretty much 0!

    It Has To Be Magic!!!!

These headphones are magical. I have owned many headphones: Klipsch Mode M40, AKG K545, Bose QC15, Bose QC20, Bose MIE2i, Beats Executive, as well as several Sony headphones, and these by far destroy any of the other headphones I have owned. I listen to my Pros on my HTC One M8 and the sound quality is truely superb. I put this headphone through its paces listening to anything from Sinatra to AC/DC (Back in Black, the album, sounds entirely absurd) to Linkin Park to Trans Siberian Orchestra to Dierks Bentley, and try as I might I couldn't find anything, and I mean anything that these headphones couldn't handle. (They even made Taylor Swift sound good, and that takes some doing). I know these headphones have a hefty price tag, but their is not a better headphone on the market (within reason anyway).

Excellent sound, great responses, durable construction. The headphones do fit a little too snug for me, and I imagine they will become uncomfortable to wear for long periods (planes, trains, other travel). I will update this review after my overseas trip in May 2012 to give a real-world travel review of these headphones.

Beats Pro are the best type of Beats that Dr. Dre has made. I have listened to all types of music with these headphones and they are way better than any other type of headhpone out there today. They price is a little too much but since they are by Dr. Dre they are going to be expensive. My friend has the Beats Studio and the Pros are way better than them. The sound quality on the Pros and durability is miles ahead the Studio's. When you are listening to music you can actually hear the different parts in the music. People say that the comfort is not that good and if you wear them for more than an hour they start to hurt your ears, but that is false they are very comfortable. They are also good for traveling on trips because I travel a lot and these are perfect and look awesome! When i am in public with them on a lot of people look at them. The sound isolation is awesome even though they dont need bateries and are just the same as the Studios in sound isolation. I use them when I am on the bus going to a game, when I am doing homework, on a plane, or just walking around town. Like i said these are the best headphones out there in any category. If you want the best quality headphones go for the Pros.

Bass is tight, clean, and overall sound quality is great. I got these when Best Buy still sold the white ones. Overall I cannot stress enough that it depends what music you listen to when purchasing headphones. 2 other headphones I can recommend with confidence are: Bose (the ones for $299.99), and my personal top choice, Bowers and Wilkins P7s ($399.99).

Combines Style & Sound to Stimulate Your Ears

These headphones are unbelievable! At first glance the price may also seem unbelievable for a pair of Cans but as an avid music listener and self-proclaimed audiophile I can assure you the price is equivalent to the overall product. Sure some elite Sennheiser sets may sound better but they are not in this price category. I was looking for amazing Sound, amazing style, and amazing structure. This unit combines them all for the ultimate ear stimulation! Spend the extra $100 and get a far superior product if you are looking at the Dr. Dre Beats Studio vs. Pro. The quality of these are simply unrivaled. Want to be happy? Buy them.

Everyone needs to quit complaining about these headphones. Obviously they are expensive and not for everyone. I bought these about a week ago and they're awesome. I don't know why everyone is saying they are so uncomfortable, they fit me really well and i haven't had any problems with comfort. They are bass heavy though but sound amazing. They are very durable and heavy duty however the case that comes with them is a soft case not a hard case but you can buy one for $20 online. The people in the store told me the 1/4 adapter didn't come off when it wasn't even on them when i opened them, DON'T listen to the guys in store, they have no idea what they're talking about since they have someone come professionally install the dre beats that way no one can steal them. I HIGHLY recommend these headphones.

If you make beats its perfect

My use - I just bought them and my main use is making beats, I am not a pro or anything it is just a hobby and my roommates always complain because for me to balance all the sounds I need to listen to it at full volume, but I can't bump my beats when they are trying to sleep so I got these to make beats at any time and listen to it with good clarity so I don't have to re adjust the sounds when I listen to it on my system. What Sold Me - I was at best buy and trying to decide which ones I wanted and they had a pair of the beats pro that wasn't plugged in to anything so I plugged it into my iphone and played one of my beats, and it was the best my beat ever sounded I could even hear sound balancing issues that I didn't hear before that I could go back and make sound perfect. Cons - price, I believe they should be 300 not 400 dollars, I think that extra 100 dollars is just name brand but if you have the money to spend and like good quality music, go ahead and buy them. plus they are stylish.

I own a pair of the Beats Solo and wanted to purchase another pair of headphones. These are the BEST sound I've heard from any of the beats. The set-up they have in the store truly lacks the true sound quality of these headphones. Keep in mind when buying, these are PROFESSIONAL STUDIO QUALITY. They are meant to be heavier, deliver amazing sound, and to be very durable. These headphones are unlike the Beats By Dre Studio in the fact that these do not need a battery to listen to them. At the end of the day, if you're looking for a casual use of the product (around the house or office) these may be a bit overkill for you. Then again if you're looking for amazing sound quality for all different types of music, these are for you!

I have enjoyed writing, playing, and listening to music for many years. It has always been an important part of my life. Since my musical tastes are not always the same as everyone else in the house, I find it impossible to crank up the speakers and really enjoy the tunes. I made a decision to go out and buy the best sounding earphones that I could find so I could crank up the music and truly hear everything. When I put on the Beats Pro, I knew I had found my answer. The price was a bit high, but cheaper than an amp, speakers, tuner, etc., which I cannot fully enjoy anyway. These are the answer for the true music lover who wants studio quality in privacy. The sound reproduction is very impressive, and although I do not know the frequency ranges and so forth for these headphones, let's just say it is like hearing music for the first time. I am not a DJ, but with these phones, I feel ready to do a little scratching! Super product, and even with the sticker-shock price tag, I am delighted with the headphones - not to mention the looks and attention this sweet headset gets. I highly recommend. You only live once so why miss half of the music.
