This is my 3rd and final go at an air purifier. Started with the larger Honeywell, very disappointed at filter layout for the price. Second was a dyson tower fan, over priced cheap plastic that rattled. Now the Blueair, it does the sqft I needed it to do, filter is huge, noice level is perfect, makes a lower hum instead of pitchy plastic. Changing the filter sock colors is a nice bonus. After 3 days of non stop running on low, I can already see the dust and hair being collected around the bottom. When the A/C is running I’ve noticed I don’t smell that musty damp air.
Wasn’t a huge fan of the solid white top, but being the craft handy person I am, I covered it in manga/anime contact paper (posted a picture) it was really easy and anyone with a few tools can do it. Plus it’s easily removable if necessary.
The charcoal smell— I ever so slightly could smell it the first day, but I have a solution, buy a car vent air freshener. Stick it in one off the holes on top, problem solved. After a couple days I removed the air freshener and couldn’t smell anything.

Purchased for living room area. Easy to put together and simple instructions make for easy setup. Compact design allows for you out somewhere within the house and doesn’t take up a lot of space. It’s super quiet on the lowest setting which is recommended, so you can’t even hear it.

looks and functions great! Quiet on low setting, although a little more noticeable on high. Easy to set up and clean when needed. I’ve already stopped sneezing so much in my house. I don’t have to cook fish outside anymore, as it clears the air before morning!

Best air purifier for the money. My son took my first one, so I had to buy another. Bought this one because Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy. Works great! I have 5 cats and a dog. This product is a must have!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so let me just say two things: (1) This air filter allowed us to keep our new long-haired dog, and (2) see attached photo of new filter next to 5-month-old filter.

4 stars soon to be 5 because we just got it and so far we hardly notice it running which is a really good thing. It's big but we had a perfect spot and just washed and changed the first prefilter, it comes with 2 . Interestingly After giving the vet 600 dollars and really having no diagnosis as to why my indoor cat was having breathing attacks daily sometimes several a day I approached it as an allergy issue...Over the course of a few weeks my cats issues/attacks have all but stopped. Now I am not completely sold that this was the cure because the vet had given the cat an injection of antibiotics before the machine came however we were convinced the vet was wrong since the attacks continued for several more weeks afterwards daily with no improvement at all.
Within a few weeks of the air machine running in his living area we started to notice less and less attacks until now there are amazingly none. Each attack we though our baby was going to die! Coincidence, Just not sure yet. As for us who suffer with allergy definately feeling better sleep wise. I really like the machine. My concern is how long will the filters last and how costly will they be to replace. I picked this unit based on consumer reports reviews. I am a real person not a bot!

Great for wildfire smoke

We bought this because there were 2 huge wildfires (we're talking 121,000 acres) within about a 25 minute drive of our home. The smoke was terrible, we had days where the Air Quality Index was in the 400s. With an 11 month old at home we decided to try this. It cleaned out the smokey smell so well! We couldn't be happier with that.
It is easy to use, quiet, and does the job well. It was a pretty descent price for the sq footage that it covers as well.
There are 2 things about it that I don't love:
1- The size - it is a bit bulky and hard hide it. I would like to have something more discrete
2- Sometimes it left the air with an unusual smell. Kind of like Apple Cider Vinegar. It was a faint smell that was only there some of the time.

Best purifier for pet owners

Its bigger than I pictured even knowing the specs but its worth it. Has taken the must and old dog smell out of our open living space. The pre filter sleeves are such an easy and simple addition that all air purifier companies should be using to help minimize clogs from larger debris or the constant pet hair in most homes. Huge help and easily cleaned to make the filter last longer. Quietest purifier we have come across for low and medium settings which still move a lot of air. Only two wishes were that it had a remote and or an app to schedule on/off times or see filter life and air quality instead of just pushing the simple button to adjust or turn off. And maybe legs to get it directly off the floor an inch or two for dirt or water or less chance of directly sucking in something by accident as the filter grates start right at the very base of the machine.

Our First Air Purifier, what a difference

During quarantine, my wife started complaining about her allergies since we were working from home. Two dogs, two cats, and a teenager, it was understandable. So I did my research, and went with the Blue Pure 211+. Yes I am a technology nut, and would have loved to have wifi, but for something like this I don't see the need. Turn it on, leave it on, don't worry about it. As luck would turn out, as I was unboxing it our teenager happened to burn something in the kitchen, and we had smoke everywhere. I pulled this out of the box, turned it on, and the smoke cleared up within a few minutes. It was amazing. The air feels fresher in the house now, and we can see the pet hair collecting on the outside cover. We ended up getting a second unit with the idea that we have one by the front door to the house, and one by the back door to the house. Our house is so much fresher smelling.

Big difference in air quality

I recently moved into a much smaller space. Having two dogs in the same room for a majority of the day and night really made the air quality go down. I started waking up with scratchy throats and lots of grossness. This usually happens when the dogs are due for a shower, but this wasnt the case. After running this and a few days have passed, I wake up feeling normal.
It ranges from quiet to as loud as any other fan, so Im happy with it. I dont like the touch button as I fear it will one day fail, but its fine so far. I like the color options.
Expensive, but the filters are a bit cheaper then competitors and will last longer since I am using this in a room rated at about 1/3 its capacity.

I recently purchased the Blueair 211+. The + is very important because it adds a carbon filter which eliminates smoke smells from the room which is important to us, especially because of our local forest fires. Additionally, it makes our room seem cooler and lighter because of the pure air. We like it’s simplicity of use and each one can purify up to 560 square feet. We purchased 3 of these units from Best Buy because they had quickest shipping to our home and we wanted to get it from a great company, Best Buy, so we could return it easily, if any problems arose, which did not occur.

We purchased this unit over the past week knowing what we were looking for in a unit since we use air purifiers at home and in our office. After doing some research and comparisons I kept coming back to this unit. When we do our research we also factor sq ft coverage, what are the cost of filter replacements and how often per year. What I do love about this unit is first the looks and the two pre filters provided that gives it the modern touch to our Living Room. Functionally it’s very simple operation.
Now compared to the Honeywell HPA300 which is a great unit that we have now moved in our bedroom, the Honeywell has more features which this unit does not have such as Timer, Dimmer for led touch button functions and Turbo but after discussing the features with my wife, we both concluded that we didn’t use the features except for turning the unit on and enjoying some clean air. So do I miss seeing the extra features on this unit..... yes, but it’s not a deal breaker. My only gripe about this unit is that when moving it, you have to carry the unit from the bottom and not from the top half which separates half way for filter replacement, I hope Blueair considers making the two side buttons stronger to the latch and incorporate two carry handles on the side for easy carry of the unit from one room to another if desired or even as simple as having to move it if your mopping the floor. So again I left the sticker on top of the unit that reminds us all to carry the unit from the bottom (we have 4 sons). Lastly the sound of the unit is super quiet, mode 1 & 2 is super quiet you barely know the unit is on and mode 3 you can hear the air flow. The noise compared to the Honeywell is significantly quieter on all 3 modes the air flow in all 3 modes is definitely noticeable too since this unit disperses air 360 degrees where as the Honeywell is directed forward only. Again I’m not knocking the Honeywell at all, I enjoy the two, my wife enjoys the Honeywell in Turbo mode at night because the white noise helps her sleep. This unit covers more sq which is great. Not only did we purchase this unit but the following day we also bought the Pure 411 for our office which has made a tremendous difference again it comes with two colored pre filters, we love the Pure 411 so much we also purchased two for my mother in law for her townhouse and one for my parent’s bedroom.

I was initially skeptical that this would make a difference in eliminating the dog smells in our home, but I was willing to give it a try. We have two dogs that shed constantly and over the years have tried everything to get rid of the odors that come from the pet dander. We have even gotten rid of almost all carpet except for the stairs and hallway. This will not make a difference with the amount of hair. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will still be sweeping everyday regardless of whether or not you make this purchase. It did however make a noticeable difference in regards to eliminating the general dog smell that exists in most multi-dog homes. Within just a few hours of turning it on there was a noticeable change for the better. We have allergy issues and this helps with that as well. I was impressed enough by the change downstairs that I ordered another unit for upstairs as well.

I bought this to combat the smoke from the California wildfires, one of which is very close by. I wish I had bought 3 while I had the chance but they are now unavailable do to high demand. It was very well reviewed by Consumer Reports and Wirecutter, so I bought it because of that and it was a good choice. Our kitchen/family room, where I put it, is 625 sq ft. It handles the room volume easily. The air feels so fresh and clean it is delightful. In addition, the only air intake vents for our AC are in the family room and I am running the AC fan 24/7, so the clean air gets spread throughout our average sized house (2500 sq ft). I definitely feel the difference all throughout the house but it is best in the family room. This was a great acquisition.
Noisewise, it is very quiet on low and even medium speed. The noise level gets higher on high speed but it is not an obnoxious noise. In fact, it is about the level and pitch of noise that I like to sleep with so I would like to have one of these in my bedroom, though I would buy a smaller unit for the smaller room.
It was a bit tricky to get the pre-filter onto the unit which is why I downgraded the quality one star. The prefilter feels a bit flimsy and I expect that I'll have to replace mine sooner or later. I don't know if it will prove attractive to my cat's claws or not.
