Before purchasing these, I had various wired and wireless earbuds where you’re given various sizes of tips to squeeze into the opening of your ear canals. These tips provides a more secure fit, isolate external noise, and provide better overall sound. These Bose SoundSport headphones are not that, at all. They come with three different sized wings that fit into the “bowl” of your ear. However the speaker part rests just inside the opening of your ear canal. This presented 3 issues for me. 1. The “bowls” of my ears are between the M and L wing sizes. The M size would rest in my ear but then the buds would fall out at the slightest movement. I had to cram the L size in which resulted in a more secure fit, but held the speaker part farther away from my ear canal. 2. Because the speaker part is free to move around, every step I take running results in the bud slightly shifting, which results in an uneven sound. 3. Because there’s space between the speaker and the wall of your ear canal, these don’t isolate noise at all. Meaning if I’m running on the treadmill, I can hear my machine, the conversation of the little old ladies on the elliptical, and the sound of the next Mr. Olympia dropping his weights on the floor after an excruciating set. This also results in a lack of midrange and “bass”. These issues can be rectified by either pressing the earphones into your ears with your fingers or cupping your hands over your ears while listening, which no one wants to do. Aside from those minor annoyances, if you sit still in a quiet room and you don’t like the idea of squeezing earbuds into the opening of your ear canals, then these are much better than average headphones. It’s just too bad these are advertised for active lifestyles.

To start off, I am not an Audiophile per say, however I do enjoy music and listen to music throughout the entire day, at any time it is reasonably accessible and won't interfere with what I am doing. Build Quality: Decent, although for a BOSE product I expected the SoundSport to be a little better than what I saw. Gaps in the "L" and "R" section of the cable where it connects to the earpiece, cable is light and appears as if it could easily rip, snag and break, or be torn off if it caught on something. Sound Quality: This is where I am having the hardest time picking an overall rating. I do not like the sound that these in-ear headphones produce. I’ve used them in conjunction with multiple devices and different equalizers and could not tune or produce a sound I enjoyed. Highs were so high they may just end up getting arrested for public intoxication. Lows and bass were unnoticeable, even when cranking equalizers to drown the speakers in a flood of BASS, they fail to produce deep sounds, while simultaneously blowing holes in your ear drum with tiny HIGH pitched sound bullets. Again, I am not an Audiophile, but come on. This is a BOSE product, a company who we all know used to lead in audio technology, but have failed to keep up with the literal hundreds of brands out there, who produce better, cheaper and cleaner devices. For $100 USD, there are MUCH better options out there. Jaybird is easily, without-a-doubt a much better option for very similar, or even cheaper prices, and they have an amazing Equalizing Application for your smartphone (free) with literally 1,000s of tuned and preset settings. To finish up, I saved the worst for last. Sound quality is so poor I have to compare them to low end (I’m talking Insignia Store Brand) bluetooth headphones. Actually, that would be insulting Insignia for making a quality product. Do not be fooled by the BOSE name, these are in my opinion just flat out, not good. I rate these as $15 dollar, gas-station headphones.

These headphones sound fantastic. Once you hear these, you'll wonder why you ever put up with the tinny sound of cheaper earbuds. The ones that Apple gives you for free with your iPhone are especially horrible. These bring a surprising amount of bass, crisp highs, and an overall sonic clarity to your music that make them worth the somewhat steep price. They also come with a nice case and interchangeable ear pads so you can customize your fit for your ear size. Yes, they're a bit pricey...but if you want great sound with your portable music, you want these. Even an "average sounding" pair from JVC, SONY, etc will set you back $49 or more. I recommend you pay more and go for the high-end audio quality that Bose is famous for. In addition, Bose really stands behind their products. When one of the volume control buttons fell off, they gave me a free replacement set of earbuds no questions asked. And, even after you've owned them past the 1-year warranty period, if they break for any reason you can buy a new pair (at a Bose store, at least) at a reduced price just by turning in your broken ones. This pair I bought from Best Buy was actually a gift for my brother-in-law, but I've bought 4 sets of these or similar models over the last 6-7 years and I keep going back for more. (Don't worry--they're well made. I use them nearly every day and wear them out more than most people would.)

I purchased these wired Bose in ear buds for a long trip from Honolulu to the Continental US, and didn't want to purchase a portable power source, or have to stop my sounds. The trip included 14 hours of flying and 18 hours of driving. The in ear sound quality was as expected. Lows were deep and rich, highs were crisp and even spoken voice was clear. If I were in a quiet library or home setting it would have been perfect. I chose Sound Sport expecting durability to stand up to Sport use, adequate noise reduction to play clearly in an outdoor or active setting. The built in clip was helpful and necessary because the thin fiberlike wires for connection really appeared ready to tear at the slightest twist. I could only imagine being jogging and have my device slip and pull on the wire wreaking havoc internally. While groggily flying I constantly worried that I would doze off, flinch and have similar wire disasters. Now I know that for airplane noise I should have gone with Quiet Comfort buds. The Sound Sport really allowed outside sounds (airplane cabin and even road noise in the bus) to permeate the listening experience. (Maybe this is a safety feature) I have moved to a pair of Sennheiser for my next trip. The cables are rugged and reinforced, and the sounds quality is the same high level I am accustomed to. While not "noise reduction" buds, the design allows the bud itself to act as a buffer to outside noise. At the same price point as Sound Sport, I have decided to give them a try. Bose, without question, my home equipment is yours.

    Best in ear earphones

I’ve owned a lot of in ear and regular earphones and I also own a pair of AirPods as well as BeatsX earphones and I’ll have to say these are the most comfortable in ear headphones I’ve owned. The tips are very comfortable and the ones that came on the headphones fit very well in my ears (there are also small and large ones in the box, the mediums are by default installed). The tips are what they call StayHear and they are more winged and ergonomic to people’s ears that other in ear ones that are round and have to be jammed in (which quite frankly hurt my ears). These also sound very nice and crisp (although I haven’t tested them enough yet so we will see). One caveat is that you’ll need to get a dongle if you are gonna use them on an iPhone 7 or later (or an Android with type C a and no headphone jack), Finally the in-line controls work fine (although I’m using them on a iPad and iPhone so it may not work properly with some Android phones). Overall I’d probably up these again a and I’ll probably switch between these and my AirPods (but using the AirPods more).

Best workout headphones in price range

I'm picky when it comes to audio gear. Bose doesn't really fit in to my normal range of acceptable audio equipment. I'm the kind of guy who listens to tube amps, lossless flac files, and vinyl. But when it comes to workout headphones I know anything that fits my normal expectations either doesn't exist or costs ten times more than I would be willing to pay. Grado and Sennheiser are more my style, but the open backed Grados fall off during workouts, and the on ear Sennheisers are too hot to work out in. I altered my normal expectations and realized I needed something that would stay in my ears through intense cardio without stretching out my sensitive ears. The Bose soundsport turned out to be one of the few headphones in my price range that fit these requirements of comfortable in ear headphones, while also containing controls to adjust my music during my time in the gym. Unlike the ridiculous Beats headphones that this model competes with there's no unecessary bass boosting. To my tastes the soundsport stays relatively true to the original sounds of my music without adding anything unecessary. For the price and performance I largely can't complain. I'm not a fan of Bose, Beats, and the rest of the overpriced plastic headphones with midrange components. In general there are better brands for the money when it comes to audiophile sound quality. But I guarantee you will not find a better pair of comfortable workout earbuds.

I have owned Bose products in the past and yet I still forget how outstanding the products that they make really are. As one would expect with a Bose product, the audio quality is above par. I like that you can still hear ambient noise with these headphones, as I do wear them for extended periods throughout the day (at work - construction). I listen to podcasts/music/phone calls at about a 3:1:1 ratio for approximately 8-10 hrs/day. What surprised me the most was the comfort. Holy cow these babies couldn't be any more comfortable! I will often forget I'm wearing them (I only "wear" a single side 90% of the time). My wife jokes that I leave them in so long, that they're going to become part of my head. I purchased these after 2-3 other brands continually disappointed (would not stay put /stay in and uncomfortable when worn for extended periods). If I had to find something to improve upon... I wish they were a little more low profile/discreet and I wish the controls were available at either ear or on the combined section of cord more centrally located. The latter is do to my wearing only one side at a time for the majority of my listening. If I switch to left ear only, then the controls are dangling unpredictably wherever the right side earpiece ends up.

    Your wired backup pair

Maybe you already have a wireless or a true wireless pair of Bluetooth earphones and don't think you will ever go back to wired. Pause and think again. For $50 (currently on sale), the Bose SoundSport wired earphones are an exceptional value for an Apple or Android device. These will be your best and the only backup pair of wired earphones. The sound quality is outstanding, the microphone quality is great, the fit is good and can be significantly improved if you put StayHear +QC tips on them if their original StayHear tips don't work for you. They come with a protective case as well. So, leave the wireless/true wireless earphones for the active you, and when you are just waiting at the airport, in flight, working in your office, or lounging at home, take these earphones out of your backpack and save/extend your wireless earphones' battery life!

First off, let me tell you that I’m one of the people that are cursed with a particular ear shape and almost every type of ear buds you can imagine would fall out of my ears and they would hurt my inner ear terribly. I had all but given up on ear buds entirely. Until I saw these and thought, I’ll give it one last try, it’s Bose so maybe it’s a winner this time. BEST DECISION IVE MADE ALL YEAR! These things are AMAZING!!! I work in construction so believe me when I tell you that I’ve put them to the test. I sweat most of the day and it’s moderately loud where I work, and they’ve NEVER FALLEN OUT! Or gave me any inner ear pain whatsoever. The silicon is very comfortable and durable, and the hooks really help to keep them locked into place. If anyone says they don’t stay in well, let me tell you they just didn’t know how to put them in correctly. These restored my hope in ear buds and I give them a 5 star review without hesitation.

These are my second pair (only because my girlfriend wanted the ones I have, but in green!). I tried some noise cancelling, in ear, Bluetooth headphones prior to these. I was not a fan. I run in these headphones and the noise canceling completely cuts out surrounding sound (as they should), but I'm not a fan because I want to hear vehicles and people around me. The other problem with the noise cancelling of those other headphones is that you can literally hear your footsteps and heartbeat, which drowns out the music. Anyways, these headphones fit comfortably in your ear (also comes with small and large ear pieces for varying ear sizes). They're light and don't bounce or make noise during workouts. The sound is superb! I enjoy the Bose definition of sound, plenty of bass, treble is great and not overpowering. The controls on the wires are easy to use and the microphone works great, no problems talking and running. I've sweat many hours in these and everything still works as new. I use these for my iPhone in an arm band, the cord is a little long, but wrap it around the phone once and use the supplied clip to clip the excess to the armband. Not a big deal. All in all these headphones are well worth the money, I workout in them almost everyday and have no intention to change.

I mean really. Since when did you go to the headphone aisle and see most things in the $70 and up range? Compared to other $100 headphones, these rock! They are comfortable and stay in your ear. Sound quality is great. Are they V-Modas? No. But those cost 3x the price more! Perfect for wearing while being active. And they are pretty durable. Bose makes their product on the quieter side, so you do have to turn these up a little more than other products. This is my 3rd set and I'll continue to buy more... but hopefully I won't have to do that. I still have my first set. It's a much older model (the first or second generation with the white and black cord) and I use that on the regular. The second set was purchased due to the functionality of the inline microphone and ability to change music on the cord. Too bad I dropped one of the earbuds in a glass of water and it shorted out. Thus the need of a replacement. My only knock on these wonderful earbuds is the cord length. Bose shortened the cord from the first couple of generations without the mic to this generation of Soundsport. The length of the first gen was a bit too long. Now they are a tiny bit too short to run from my waist to my ears and have enough slack...

I have owned these earbuds twice before. The first time I lost them when they got snagged on a lady walking into the bus as I walked by. Freak accident. I was heartbroken because I loved the way these sounded. I got another pair a few years later, now they had the new silicon buds with the in ear wing. I loved those pair as well. Same great sound quality as before, but then they stopped working due to my lack of care. After that I was using headphones like Beats and Sonys. The sound quality was ok on those, the Beats probably had a very similar sound but the Sony's had too much bass. I missed something more compact and I always liked these earbuds. I decided to buy them once more. They were on sale and I knew I had to get them. This version now has a volume control, and they still sound great. Everything is clear and nothing gets over emphasized.

With the number of quality manufacturers out there making products with outstanding sound quality, versatility, price, functionality, etc., it is undoubtedly a difficult endeavor in choosing which is best. Fortunately for you I have tried a number of products from different companies (e.g., Sony, SkullCandy, Beats, Bose, etc.) in earbuds and consequently one product in corded earbuds consistently provides the best sound out there -- BOSE! I am not against Bluetooth products and arguably there might be some variability in terms of which brand I trust the most, but with respect to this style in particular, Bose owns sound quality. I also bought a pair for my sister and she loves them! The buds have interchangeable ear pieces for that perfect fit and once you have your size, the rest is undoubtedly Bose perfection. I thoroughly enjoy hearing the crispness of music and the little details that engineers put into producing songs and Bose allows me to hear everything. I personally listen to music via iTunes and I am rather biased with respect to my 100% confidence in iTunes; nevertheless, Bose and iTunes is a match made in heaven!

I love these earphones. It have really good sound and at the same time doesn’t totally block me out of my surroundings. If someone would try to talk to me or an announcement in the speakers in the office, airport or plane I’m still able to hear it and can easily just lower the volume without removing the earphones from my ear. I got these with wires so I can easily switch connections from phone, tablet, laptop or computer without needing to sync each time via Bluetooth. I also love it that these earphones will always be ready for me to use wherever I go without worrying if they’re charged and have enough battery. Also, I’m so happy that it came with a case that I’m able to easily attach to my backpack. No more worries about getting them lost inside my bag or getting tangled up with other stuff in the bag or pockets.

This is my first Bose product. I know they make awesome speakers so I gave these earbuds a try. Bought these on Thanksgiving for $50 and this is how I feel: These earbuds don't sound bad, but they are definitely not $100 good. They advertise these as sport earbuds, and more than 50% of review are about how good these earbuds are for runners. I am not a runner and I don't find these that good. First of all, these headphones have zero sound isolation, which is the thing I can't stand the most. They are open sounding headphones so you can clearly hear everything around you while you are wearing them. In order to hear the music clearly when you are on the bus or walking on the street, you have to turn the volume up to a very unhealthy level. The sound that comes from these headphones gives you a very far feeling, and this is another reason you may want to turn up the volume. I am not a heavy bass fan, but this product has no bass and the pitch is high. The microphone is good though. I am totally not impressed by this product, and I think they are worth about $50 instead of $100.

I read a number of reviews of the Bose SoundSport Wired In-Ear Headphones for iOS before deciding to give them a try. Most reviews were very positive, but there were a couple in which the owners complained about inadequate bass response. My music preferences mostly involve acoustic instruments, not amplified electric or electronic, and I am very pleased with the reproduction of orchestral instruments like the double bass, bass drum, and tympani. The mid-range and high sounds are also excellent and the reproduction is smooth throughout the ranges. If you're looking for the kind of bass that you can feel in your chest, earbuds of any kind are not for you--the physics of sound reproduction makes that impossible. But if you want excellent reproduction of natural acoustic instruments, these are well worth trying.

I’ve used Bose in ear for over 10 years and I’ve never been disappointed with the sound quality they deliver (with a caveat at the end). The most significant and satisfying aspect of these earphones are the way the fit in your ear with the silicone slipon design. I couldn’t ever understand why no other company could get this part right. However, I give it only 3 stars because of the crappy cord quality and flawed design that always allows it to wear out or get damaged. Bose is a company that has not yet figured this out but will happily take your money for your next pair. For that sole reason, I’ve since moved on to beats x and haven’t looked back. Regarding the sound, which I’ve always loved, I still have to say that the older Bose in ears had much more of warmer sound than those of today and I think Bose has lost its way through the years.

I'm a fitness walker, and needed a good set of earbuds that would stay put, enable me to hear oncoming traffic, and still provide good audio performance. That criteria seems normal, but there's conflicts involved if you think it through. The buds have to be tight enough, but also loose enough, but also tight enough... good luck. I found the different size tip and wing options that came with the Bose Soundsports gave me a slightly loose tip fit with a snug wing. Then it came down to the sound performance. Bass response is adequate, midrange and treble are outstanding. The iPod/iPhone controls are simple and straightforward in operation. My one criticism would be that the cord is a little on the short side, clearly designed for armband or chest pocket carrying of the sound source. Not that practical if you carry the iPod or iPhone in your pants pocket. I've had these a few weeks now and use them everyday. They've held up well, no issues with fit, finish, or wear. They're a good set of corded earbuds. If the rumored bluetooth earbuds from Bose have this same form factor, that would be a good thing because Bose has done a good job in developing the Soundsports.

Do not Buy! Run away from these headphones

Do not buy, especially if you're a runner! I would give zero stars if that was an option. I've owned 11 of these in the last 8 years, and most were covered under a warranty by Bose or an extended warranty from Best Buy. If you sweat when you work out, as most people do, the sweat will start to corrode the 3.5 jack, then the controls will stop functioning and the volume will begin to increase or decrease for no apparent reason. This has been an issue for years with these. I have also tried both wireless in ear headphones from Bose and my complaint with those is due to how much they stick out from your years, the buffeting from the wind around your ears in unbearable and annoying. Until Bose can design their wireless to function better I'll just keep replacing these under warranty every 4-6 months.
