What a long strange trip it's been!

I tried BT wireless headphones back in 2009 and though very convenient, the technology lacked good audio quality at that time.
After reading about the recent advances in BT, I decided to jump into BT headphones and experiment within $100 to $250 price range. I’ll do my best to not knock other brands but I went through 3 pair before committing to the B&W P5’s wireless almost by accident. Skip to the last paragraph for my thoughts on the P5w’s. If you want to hear how I got to the P5w's and went way out of my price range, start here.
I started with a Sony BT on-ear for about $100. I was quickly disappointed before leaving the BB parking lot so I ran back in and returned them within 20 minutes. They didn’t pair with my iPhone immediately and the Sony’s highs were too high, and the base was very flat.
I then picked up the j-Birds in-ear at $150ish. I was able to leave the BB parking lot as there were a few things to assemble for sizing purposes before I could use them- so I took them home. Again, I was quickly disappointed-they were very close to being mono-toned and no better than the wired headphones you received with your Walkman CD player back in the 90’s-to be clear, I thought they were horrible.
The next day I went back to BB and reluctantly tried the DDre Beats Solo wireless on-ear for $270ish. I say reluctantly only because I’m in my 50’s and rarely see anyone over 25 years old wearing beats… I must say that the Beats Solo sounded the best up to this point but they were too heavy with bass.
There are a few songs I listen to that help me judge headphones. In these songs, you can hear the singer inhaling between verses or the finger drag of a guitarist going up and down the strings all while being played at a reasonable volume. With the DDre solo’s, I was not able to hear what I expected. I returned the Solo’s and decided to stick with my wired Bose headphones. $270 for Solo’s was more than I wanted to commit to anyway.
I then came across an article about the B&W P5’s wireless. At $399, they were way out of my price range but I’d come this far and wanted to see if they sounded better than anything I’d experienced up to that point. Gotta Love BB’s return policy! I went back to BB and picked up their last pair of P5w’s. I cracked opened the case in the BB parking lot expecting that I would return them within the next 30 minutes. Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the minor details of the packaging, the tight leather headband and the plush feeling of the ear-cups. I turned on the headphones and they paired within 5 seconds and 20 seconds later I was listening to Hotel California. Man-was I blown away. No-I was Really Blown Away. I’m not an audio snob by any means but I do appreciate good audio quality. The highs were perfect, the mids were perfect and the bass was just the right amount. I took them home and spent the next 3 days listening to music, movies and audio books. I decided that these were keepers and that perhaps I’d ebay a few things to help pay for my new love affair for the P5w’s .
BTW-the article I referenced early that pointed me to the P5w's had to do with counterfeit headphones. If you're going with P5w's, get them from a reputable authorized seller with a return policy!
The B&W P5 BT wireless headphones are the best set of headphones I've ever experienced including any wired sets!!!

These are great headphones for people with small heads. They tend to run a bit tight, so there is a break in period. Excellent fidelity and quality.

Tested:
1. Bose SoundLink® around-ear wireless headphones II
2. Dr. Dre Studio Wireless 2.0
3. Sony MDRXB950BT/B
B&W P5 wireless produce the best sound for most types of music.
Bluetooth transmission distance is short ~10ft (cannot walk freely around the house)
Good battery. Sound improves a bit when connected to cord.

These cost more than I thought I would spend on a pair of headphones, but they sound incredible. My primary use of them is for watching movies whether on my iPad or in my apartment on the TV where I cannot have loud sound. You can hear every detail of the movie clearly and they have strong bass for things like explosions. I also use these for listening to music where everything sounds amazing and you can hear the smallest details in the song. I listened to many different headphones before purchasing these. The only pair that sounded better to my ears was another pair of Bowers and Wilkens, but they were larger and didn't fit me as comfortably. I highly recommend giving these a try.

B+W makes great audiophile quality speakers so no surprise their headphones are superb. Bass, tonality, and brightness are well balanced and warm for music. And the iPhone integration is an unexpected bonus... I can take calls seamlessly, and work colleagues say the headphone has a better mic than my iPhone!

This P5 Wireless headphone comes with an audio jack should you decide to use a wired instead to save battery. The headphone provides awesome audio clarity , adequate bass , excellent treble , perfect for acoustic and jazz musics. Try it before you buy it! But it's absolutely a great and elegant product. More portable and lighter than the P7.

Having owned many different types of headphones over the years, the P5's count as one of the absolute best. The design and build quality is exceptional with all structural components being metal, not plastic. For an on ear headphone, the sound is surprisingly rich while at the same time isolating a fair amount of unwanted external sounds. They fold up nicely into the included compact hard case making them ideal for travelers who don't want to compromise quality for space efficiency.

These are beautiful and just exude quality. Leather and stainless steel. But Bluetooth range is quite poor, they bare penetrate a wall, while I can walk around the entire house with my Bose on ear wireless and my Apple AirPods. And these hurt after a period of warring them, if you want to look stylish these are nice, but a few sacrifices to make.

These headphones look pretty stylish and high tech and have pretty good sound, but for $400, I expect a bit more. The bluetooth paired/connected very easily with my iphone 6s Plus and iPad Pro. I took them on a recent flight which of course you cant use bluetooth, so switching to a wired device was quite simple and the cord is plenty long. The sound was much better as a wired device than as wireless. You gain some loudness, but lose the ability to answer phone calls which is a negative for me. The carrying case is very nice and sturdy. I dont think the ear pieces will hold up very long as they seem less durable than the device as a whole. If you dont mind spending the $400 for a set of slightly above average headphones, then these are for you. As for me, my search continues. Ive tried Beats Studio Wireless, Bose QC35's and Plantronics BackBeat Pro. So far, for overall features, quality and sound, ive stuck with the BackBeats. Surprisingly, i like them the best so far.

I like the look and sound of these headphones, and being wireless is nice when I'm traveling. The sound quality is better than my Bose on hear headphones I am replacing. The one issue I have is that the sound drops off occasionally and I have to re-pair the connection to my iPhone.

I love these bluetooth headphones. I have to say, I've never been a headphone guy really before using these, because the on ear headphones hurt my ears. These are so soft; you just have to be patient for the first few days or so of wearing them so the headband can stretch to your head size and not squeeze too hard.
The reason why I'm only giving 4 stars - sometimes the bluetooth disconnects from my phone/computer, and makes a quick popping noise in my left ear when it happens. I updated my bluetooth drivers and the issue has gone down, so I don't know if its the headphones or the drivers. Weird.
But still, these headphones are amazing. I've already recommended these to a bunch of my friends.

About as good as it gets for wireless, crisp accurate sound, enough bass for most, but as with all wireless, never enough punch. Far superior To my Bose wireless. I am satisfied.

As many of the other reviews have stated, these headphones have a perfect combination of superb build quality and wonderful sound. The bluetooth has also been flawless in the month or so that I have been using these and does not seem to degrade the exceptional sound in any way. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking for great sound and a quality build that will hold up over time. I am not going to get technical as sound is obviously very subjective but I like to think I have a pretty good set of ears and I couldn't ask for any more than what I hear when I put these on and get lost in some music.

I'm very impressed with these headphones. The quality is awesome - they sound great, comfortable, and are very well made. I was originally planning to buy the BOSE QuiteComfort headphones, since I wanted something with Noise Cancellation for when I'm traveling on airplanes. None of the B&W headphones have Noise Cancellation, instead they have Noise Isolation. While Noise Isolation is not nearly as effective at blocking background noises as active Noise Cancellation, I found the sound quality with the B&W P5s was much better and as long as you have music playing they do a great job at blocking out background noises.
