I really liked the printer but after few days printer is going to error mode E733-0005. I called Canon and they said to return as it has faulty hardware. Poor quality control. Got a. Replacement and hopefully it’s not a defective item.

Previously I had one inkjet printer that I used for scanning and faxing and a color laser printer I used for the majority of my printing. Due to space I wanted one device that would take care of both; a color laser than can scan. I ran across this gem on sale and it fit the bill. Print quality is excellent and it will perform double-sided printing without manual intervention! Saves paper and doesn't cause confusion determining which way to turn the paper to print on the other side. The display panel is touchscreen and easy to navigate and you can access and change all settings directly from the printer. The one downside is the software! It has a "suite" that lets you scan documents and photos but is very limited. If you click the scan document button, it just starts scanning without any prompt asking if you want to scan multiple pages etc. You also don't have the option of choosing a save location for each document. Once it's set in the configuration, once you hit scan that's where its going although you can change it again in the config. The printer, scanner, copier is fantastic and the only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because of the apps that come with it. I will say that setup was the easiest of any printer I have had with this many features!

Set up for the with my laptop was a little bit more complicated than I thought. I followed the instructions but could not get it. I would recommend setting it up with a clear mind. I had to walk away from it . The next day after googling it I was able to get set up. The other thing is it's very large. Aside from the 2 above things I like the printer. It is quiet and The print jobs are high quality and clear.

I absolutely love this printer. The laser jet quality is so much better than my old ink jet. Clear print, vibrant colors.I bought this on sale at a price point that wasnt a whole lot more than the ink jets. Researched extensively and look forward to the long term cost savings. Only potential downside...this printer is big. I dont mind it but if you are working in a home office with limited space, this could be a consideration. Other than that, this printer is perfect for my needs.

So far the quality of the copies are excellent. Scanning is a bit complicated. Currently only able to scan using the usb drive. Remote UI feature also complicated or directions are not clear for this model. More time will be needed to figure out remote UI. The paper tray does not hold a ream of paper. Finally the machine is loud. I’m giving it a 3 star rating because to date the print quality is excellent most items in this review can be tolerated except for the Remote UI feature. Knowing these things I would not purchase this machine again or recommend it to a friend.

Been looking for a while for a all in one color laser printer compatible with IOS. I highly recommend the Canon MF642. Its quick and produces high quality duplex color prints. Its best for business use. Set up was was a breeze. The fax and scan features also work well. Cons: I have point out is that at times you have to long press a button for it to be recognized. Also this is not a small printer, if you are looking for a small foot print, you may need to look at another device.

I bought this Canon MF642CDW on sale online at Best Buy for $269 on 3/6/21. I have been using this a lot- almost 2000 pages since I purchased it three weeks ago. The color is very vivid, even for photos.the black-and-white is great. All printing is smudge proof. It was very easy to set up. The only problem I had is that it has been making a loud plastic popping noise since I first started using it. I tried calling canon every day for the first two weeks and I was on hold for over an hour each time so I’d hang up. 14 days was the return policy for Best Buy and I needed to know if this popping sound was normal. When I finally got through to Canon, they really couldn’t offer much help and said that if it was too late to take it back to Best Buy, I could always return it to them for a refurbished unit. They said it is warranted for three years, but they always give you refurbished units. So I did not want to trade a brand new unit for a refurbished unit so I’m just going to see what happens with the popping sound. Other than that, Everything is great. The cartridges seem like they still have plenty of toner even after 2000 pages. It is a noisy printer. I used to be able to print with people sleeping in the next room and it did not wake them up. This one is loud. It’s almost like a quiet vacuum cleaner. It turns on this fan mode or something- I don’t know if it’s to keep it cool or what. But sometimes it runs even well after the printing is done. I’ve gotten used to the sound, I just have to be careful on the time of day we print. I am very pleased with how easy it is to install the toner cartridge. They just simply set in the unit, no locking or clicking into place. Then when you close the door it clicks it where it needs to be to secure it in. Very intuitive. I have stuck with Canon and have had three laser units prior to this one. I like Canon better than HP and Brother. They work better for the laser and the cartridges are cheaper. I have been using laser printers exclusively for the past 16 years. This is a very heavy unit. I think 67 pounds. Feels very solid. I love it and the fact that it is color laser as well. For the price I would have to give it five stars. It is very well-suited for small and even medium size businesses.

Had an older HP inkjet printer that I was tired of replacing ink on plus sometimes I wouldn't use the printer for awhile, and the ink would dry up. It finally bit the dust and it was time for a new printer. Decided on a laser- higher up front cost plus consumables but I think lower cost in the long run for me. Plus, Best Buy had a good price on this Canon. This printer has performed great. Text and non-photo graphics look great. Even color photos look decent for a laser printer but I'm not concerned about that. I think it's more cost effective to have photos printed somewhere, especially in comparison to an inkjet printer. My only complaint is the printed paper output tray; it can be a little awkward getting printouts from there. Had some issues setting up scan to email with GMail. Not sure if it was the printer or GMail, but I setup an email account with Outlook.com and it worked fine. Scanning to a network share also works well. For Linux users out there, this printer works well with Pop OS (Ubuntu derivative). Prior to buying I had researched the printer and saw that Canon had Linux drivers, even though no mention of it being officially supported. After adding the printer to my wireless network Pop OS detected it automatically. It worked for a few days then started having issues. Installed the Canon drivers and it has worked perfectly since. Installed Samba and was able to scan to a network share on my computer without issue. I work in IT and sometimes have to work with printers at work, and appreciate that this printer has a nice web interface so managing from Linux is no issue. No Windows based configuration programs required.

This printer does everything you’re office printer does and surprisingly efficient. The only problem I’ve had to do deal with the application to run the scan function is finicky. I’ve had to uninstall and install the software application a few times on multiple occasions which can get frustrating if you do it often enough. Luckily I don’t do it that often. Most of our work is printing and that through a remote device such as a phone or tablet and It work’s great. Print quality and speed are good as well. It is a bulky device ( ~ 50 lbs), so you will have to plan for a location or support frame that can bear that load.

Needed to replace a (highly rated) Epson inkjet that was two years old and had began to give print quality issues. A printer is one of those devices that when it stops working correctly or dies, it's a huge problem! Decided to splurge for a color laser to see how that works out, I've only ever bought inkjets because of cost. We print mostly text documents, but need color occasionally. Out of the box, this thing is huge! It is an AIO (all in one except fax because we didn't need that function) but wow. Dimensions on paper are one thing, but the physical presence of this printer cannot be ignored! Setup was a bit bizarre. If you put in the wrong WiFi password in initial setup, it won't forget your mistake unless you reset it to factory settings. Also, there is no option to "see" the password, only asterisks. No matter how many times I re-entered the correct password, it still remembered my initial wrong password. The touchscreen is OK, but it's kind of clunky and takes a bit of getting used to because it takes a fairly heavy touch. Only had it for a day, but initial impressions are good in regards to print quality. Printed a photo on regular 8x11 paper in landscape mode and it was pretty amazing looking. We don't print photos at home often, but it can be done as long as you aren't doing it often (toner costs) and aren't really picky on quality. Text printing is far faster and better than any inkjet I've ever had. It is very noisy in operation compared to any inkjet, but it doesn't seem out of place compared to other lasers I've used. But those have all been in an office setting. At home, you'll definitely know this thing is printing! As long as it lasts more than 3 years and toner cost doesn't get bizarrely expensive, I'll consider it a win.

Bought this for school and office at home. Setup is super easy. I recommend connecting to your wireless router so it can print from any device that is connected to the WiFi. Prints/copies quick and accurate. It is a large printer and weighs like 50 pounds, so something to consider.

I previously owned an InkJet printer. I don't print much and it kept having the ink dry up when I went to use it. So I decided to give this Laser Printer a try since the prices are so good now. It's very easy to setup but be careful unpacking as the tape covering everything can be difficult to remove from some parts. It's also very easy to connect to your network. You do not even need to plug it into your computer to install the software for it. I started it up from another room, used WPS button to connect to the network and then installed the software on my computer, it found the printer without a problem. I was printing in less than 5 minutes! I printed a color picture just to test it's photo printing and I was stunned how well it looked even on regular paper. Well worth the purchase. No complaints at all.

This was the best priced laser printer and it did not disappoint!!! It’s a little complicated at the beginning. I still don’t understand the paper sizes and have not successfully printed any pictures but that’s def user error I am not savvy at all. I was able to easily connect this thing to WiFi and I print from my phone quite alit. So easy, fast, and good quality. I would say that after 10 color copies to give it a rest. The following prints will come out smeared or bleed with color. Seems like it gets too hot and the ink bleeds. I don’t do full color copies often but when I do I am mindful to print ahead of time just because of this reason.

My former printer was a higher end all in one inkjet and after much research I decided to convert to a laser printer. This printer is everything that I need. Print quality is great, functionality is great, and the price was fantastic. Pros: Fast, intuitive installation. Great image out of the box. Good scan quality. Duplex printing. Cons: It is HEAVY. The touch screen is crowded and pushing the buttons on the left and the right is hard to get used to because it feels like you are touching the frame, not the screen. I'm sure that I will get used to this with time.

The overall size is actually a bit larger than expected. However, the copier seems to work fine so far. It may take a little time before I'm completely comfortable with it since it is vastly different than the previous HP All-In-One I used for years. Hopefully, I no longer have issues with constantly running out of ink. This model is on the way to being my favorite copier yet.
