Upgraded to mirrorless. Bought to go with a Canon R6 Mark II. What a change over the EF version and adaptor I had for 6 months. H+ shutter speed did not work properly on the EF, on the RF lens it’s fast. Color, overall tone and sharpness is excellent. Getting used to the telescoping lens design. Wish it was still internal but the lens is easy to carry and use. If you go to a mirrorless camera I highly recommend spending the money on the new RF lens. Works like a dream. Faster. Sharper. And the photos quality is so much better. I shoot several high school sports activities indoors and outdoors. The lens is fast and can lock on to the action quickly. The f2.8 is perfect for all events.

This len is one of Canon’s best and delivers exceptional image quality, strong background blur, and cinematic compression—perfect for portraits and high-end video work. The f/2.8 aperture gives you that clean, blurred background look, while the autofocus and stabilization make it reliable for both handheld shooting and moving subjects. It’s especially powerful for emotional close-ups and music videos, which fits exactly what you’re doing. The only real downsides are the price and limited use in tight spaces, but since you already have a wide lens, that’s not a problem for you.

This lens almost never leaves my camera body. It is so sharp and has amazingly fast autofocus. And the 2.8 + compression makes it hard to capture a bad photo. The build quality is great and has taken a beating on the many trips i've taken it on. And I like how small and compact this lens is compared to other options. The external zoom never really bothered me and I would still prefer this over the newer Z version.

The Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM was the lens I dreamed about for years, and now that I finally own it, I can honestly say it has transformed the way I photograph. This 2.8 70-200mm lens is amazing but so is the F4 70 -200 mm lens. I was torn between the two. It is a half year price tag for the 2.8 but look at it as an investment, especially if you use it to make money if you feel like you don't use it consistently than the F4 would be the way to go. you really can't go wrong with either one. They are both amazing. I noticed a slight difference, but not much in the photos. The detail when editing is amazing you can't go wrong with either one. If you're on a budget the F4 is the way to go. It's a little bit smaller and lighter. But for me, I looked at it as an investment and went with a 2.8 upgrading from my EF 2.8.

The image quality is excellent. The auto focus tracks the moving target accurately. I recommend the lens especially for portraits. The light weight and compact size is a plus. Overall I am happy with this lens and highly recommend it.

After switching to an R5 from a 5D Mark II, I decided to get the EF to RF adapter so I could use my EF 70-200mm 2.8 IS II and it was… alright. The lens still performed well, but by the time I had the adapter and lens attached to the R5 it just felt too bulky and heavy for travel. With some airlines being pickier than others, I wanted to make sure my backpack would pass airline weight restrictions. A friend recommended going down to an f/4 lens for a lighter lens, but if I can have a slightly heavier lens and not have to pack a tripod or monopod, then it’s worth it for me. I also love the bokeh of the f/2.8. I then saw that this lens was more compact and lighter than my EF lens while maintaining a fixed f/2.8, so it was the best of both worlds. Aside from the size and weight the image quality was superior compared to my EF lens. The autofocus was also way quicker especially when shooting in Servo. The lens image stabilization combined with the in-body stabilization was so steady to the point where I removed the tripod mount. I still use it when I plan on using a tripod, but for lighter travel I remove it to save the weight. The lens hood is a a bit wide than I’d prefer, it’s not terrible. It was one heck of an upgrade and I can already feel the difference on my back when traveling and especially my neck. Sharp, quick, light and compact. I regret not just being this when I got the camera.

Another fantastic lens if you can afford it. The compactness versus the EF version is really nice. I much prefer the extension plus a smaller lens versus the EF large size. It makes the lens a little less conscipicuous. I think for a travel lens, this is really a nice option. Not too large, big focal range, big performance through the range, and unfortunately big price to go with it. If you can afford it, it's a lovely tool to have on the camera.

I don't have the words to say how much I love this lens. I use it for every professional gig I do and I've taken it with me on some trips too. It's very versatile and not overly daunting to carry around.

amazing low light capability and durable. I dropped this lens twice and felt my soul leave my body. Once when the cheap tripod tipped over and the lens went face first into the dirt and wood chips unprotected. No damage or scratches. The second time when a cord got tangled and pulled the lens off the shelf where it fell 3ft onto a wood floor. Again, no damage. Maybe I am just lucky, or maybe Canon built a durable lens. Overall, the photo quality is great, and I appreciate the external zoom for photography as it opens up creativity with abstract shots. This lens is also great for Lanscape, portrait and video. I am happy to have this lens in my collection.

Excellent lens! Yes, it’s expensive but if you’re a professional photographer this will change your business. If you’re a hobbyist and can afford it, you’ll love the results! The L series RF lenses are amazing but the 70-200mm f2.8 takes the cake! This lens is an ESSENTIAL part of my kit.

Portable and lightweight, excellent quality and picture quality. The only disadvantage is that the stretchable design is difficult to keep clean

I primarily use this lense for athletic events - swimming, soccer and lacrosse. It is quick, sharp and and at F2.8 lets in a lot of light for quick stop action.

I was hesitant at first due to the premium I had to pay for the F2.8 version but as soon as I shot the first few photos I knew it was the right decision. It’s super sharp, and the IQ overall just leaves me in awe.

I love my 70-200mm lens. I used it for some soccer photos and loved how I could get close shots of the players and can't wait to try in volleyball. I also have used this lens for weddings and it helps get a variety of shots without being super close.
